Leg'go my Legos!

Buddy has rediscovered his love of Lego's, we built all last night (that is, after we came home from the Sherman/ Mr. Peabody movie) and all this morning.....

Then some families came over for dinner tonight....families with small children.....families with small children that don't know how to read......families with small children that don't read and don't follow the rules posted on Buddy's wall...families with small children that don't read, don't follow rules and break apart Lego creations with a vengeance!  We are currently in the middle of a Lego meltdown, which Buddy was generous enough to pause long enough for me to update my blog (hey, a girl's got to have some priorities).....And now back to the rocking and crying! I would say I don't know where he get's that sour attitude from, but it's all me. I'm embarrassed to admit, but I am one Negative Nancy and it's unfortunately rubbed off on the BudMeister! Uggghhhh, why are all his negative attributes always passed down from me? Seriously! Colorblindness-me, nearsightedness-me, funky teeth-me, potty humor-me (OK, I'm totally proud of that one), hairy eyebrows-me (although Buddy is quite proud of this attribute) and now the Negative Nancy syndrome! Well, what better motivation to change that frown upside down than  a Buddy! So all in all a super fantastic, changing our attitudes, day!

Derby!!!!

Today was our pinewood derby....
Buddy won a 1st place trophy for his den...
Although the trophies were all made out of his knick-knacks....so I'm not sure if he won anything at all?
When we were done I had the kids get on their hands and knees and sweep the floor with a puff ball to help clean up!

I'm a good Cub Master that way you know! So all in all a super fantastic, derbied out, day!

Future....

You know that saying  Whitney Houston made so famous : "the children are our future"? Behold our future...
Heehee....the future looks pretty darn awesome (and slightly messy) to me! Not sure what the boys were actually trying to accomplish here, or possibly not accomplish here, but it was definitely a job well done! So all in all a super fantastic, sandy future, day!

Inspector.....

We're in the process of attempting to buy a little slice of paradise , so while Shane and I were hanging with the Home Inspector the other day.....
Buddy took over the important role of pet inspector. I think Buddy may have gotten the better part of the deal. Thankfully his work was quid pro quo. so I didn't have to shell out big bucks for the inspection! So all in all a super fantastic, somebody had to inspect the dog, day!

Escape.....

Buddy and I got stranded on an island over spring break. So we did what any other sane person would do.....gather our supplies and start building a raft!

The raft was surprisingly difficult to assemble, but thankfully we were stranded with a few other friends to make it a little more tolerable, since we abandoned the raft making about 45 minutes into the project ...
With a few nets and poles, I do believe we can survive  this island.....

Of course it doesn't hurt that we were stranded only 2 hours away from home. Now when I say stranded I mean stopped with a fully functioning car placed in park. We have thankfully returned to the land of  FLUSHING TOILETS!!!!!I am very thankful for flushing toilets, they may be my favorite thing of the day....well, other than Buddy (shhh, don't tell Buddy, but I think I may love flushing toilets more than him today...he can have tomorrow)! So all in all a super fantastic, spring breaking like a boss, day!

Fenced in....

We've been suffering from a minor case of the Spring Breaks. Thankfully, I found a cure for that....

I even let them out for good behavior, because I'm that nice! Tomorrow we'll be headed down to Milloli'i for some serious camping!!!! Thankfully, we've been there a few times before, so I already know they have cages there for my kid watching needs! So all in all a super fantastic, keeping the kids safe, day!

Family bonding......

I've been really sick the past two weeks, so I feel I haven't played with my family as much as I should have....so today I put on my big girl panties and mandated that we all go out in the yard and climb the coconut tree...

Turns out we aren't as adept at climbing as we hoped to be.....also we're not as adept at taking pictures that make us look like we're really high off the ground instead of the measly 3 feet! But, turns out, Buddy is quite adept at taking funny pictures of his parents.....

Which, I'm pretty sure, trumps coconut tree climbing any day! In other news, we went to the store to buy a shirt for Shane and came out with a hat....for Buddy!
But seriously, that hat was just begging to be worn by Buddy. Buddy has promised to wear it EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE!!!!!!!!!  He calls it his "party hat" ! I'm pretty stoked about it myself, Shane refused to get the matching one in his size....what a party pooper! So all in all a super fantastic, family fun, day!

Performing Arts?

There isn't much out here on our rock in the middle of the Pacific (as far as performing arts go....well, and a million other things, but I'm focusing arts in this post). So when I saw a show called "Feet Don't Fail Me Now" coming our way, for one night only, I snatched up some tickets, snatched up my boys and improved their lives culturally.....
Well, it was a 2 hour performance, what did you expect? The show was a fantastic mix of tap dancing, big band playing, beat boxing and singing.....with a grenade sound effect with everyone laying on the floor dead at the end that made Buddy giggle with delight (I'm hoping that doesn't mean years of therapy down the road).
It was so loud that the boys were given complimentary ear plugs....which the boys put to good use as evidenced by Buddy's selfie in the car ride home! In other news, I found a new way to supervise Buddy completing his chores...
My supervisory mobile even has a built in horn for when he gets distracted....which is coming in quite handy. Also, Buddy got to take home the school bird for spring break......
He assures me that by the time the week is over they will be the best of friends. Of course I told him if he kept taking him into the bathroom with him, he may not have the chance to be the best of friends when the bird dies a horrible death of toxic inhalation. Also, I almost forgot, he lost a tooth today.....
Which is weird because I thought he was done with that....but at least it wasn't a top tooth or I'd feel pretty jipped about those braces! So all in all a super fantastic, cultured, day!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Today  we had Cub Scouts. I've been filling in for several months as the bear leader. Today I came up with what I thought was the quintessential scout activity! Flashlights out of batteries, wire and a flashlight bulb....what could go wrong?
Has anyone actually seen Buddy before? Grrrrr, he talked SOOOOOOOO much and distracted the boys from their task that only one actually completed his flashlight (Buddy included)! Seriously, that kid needs a muzzle! Too bad he doesn't have lower braces so I could just sew his mouth shut, easy peasy like! That would actually be pretty handy in my case.....hmmm, I wonder if the dentist would be up for that? Just kidding, kind of, not really, but I wouldn't want DCFS on my case! Oh well, at least the kids walked away with the working components versus an actual working flashlight....that has to count for something.....at least I really hope it counts for something! By the way, all is well and good with my boy....somehow I can't stay mad at that cute face! So all in all a super fantastic, motor mouth, day!

Torturous....

It appears as if they are making water torture chambers a little bit bigger this year!
So all in all a super fantastic, need to be tortured more often, day!

Maturity....

I believe Buddy is growing up right before my eyes!!!!! Last night, he went to bed without any facial hair (so to speak of anyway). This morning he woke up sporting this....
I'm not sure, but I believe he was doing some reconnaissance work on some fellow church goers. He brought his spy glass and was giving everyone that went to the pulpit a thorough once over! Is this the part where I add to the enjoyment that the primary sang in sacrament today? One thing I know for certain, this kid is never boring....
That, and we're going to need some sunscreen for that! So all in all a super fantastic, growing up right before my eyes, day!

Gamey??????

Buddy's primary teacher (who also happens to be the mother of Buddy's BFF) asked me to help host a party for her class. She was on top of food, and I had the entertainment (go figure). We did a bunch of games (I know, total shocker). I think I've found a new favorite though....Frozen T-Shirt!!!! Super simple, super easy, super fun and super hilarious (to watch at least, pretty sure my good humor may have been dampened if someone were trying to make me wear a frozen T-shirt). All you do is freeze wet t-shirts and then release the children....

Buddy's was on the winning team.....but like I said before, not sure if I would ever call wearing a frozen t-shirt "winning". Of course when I asked Buddy what his favorite game was, it is truly no surprise that a gun was included....
So all in all a super fantastic, warming up, day!

Family bonding.....

Shane insisted that we take a family walk tonight to the local grocery store..... I mean, I totally get it.....

Hang out with your family =good

Exercise=good

Getting your groceries=good

Telling your dad you feel sick to your stomach, he makes you go anyway, then 1 mile in you start puking in the bushes= not so good!

Here are my boys before the real fun began tonight....

In other news, I have a confession....well, actually Buddy has a confession, I'm just sharing it for posterity's sake! When Buddy is sick he has comfort movies that contain strong female leads (think Tinkerbell, Disney Princesses), tonight we are being graced by a horrible Barbie movie! He'd be so embarrassed if he knew I was telling anyone, but I'm sure down the road he'll thank me for making sure the world knew to make him feel better! So all in all a super fantastic, wondering how many episodes of Barbie I need to watch before I lose IQ points, day!

Getting a raise.....

Today Buddy babysat himself for 10 minutes, earned a white belt in his Kajukenbo class.....
Then when I told him I didn't feel well after our bike ride this evening he made me dinner, pulled out a makeshift bed complete with linens and pillows, and brought me some tylenol (complete with an apology that he couldn't find the adult package, only the children's). FYI-all that was done without me even asking....I'm pretty certain I must be doing something right! Also, I'm pretty certain if actually paid him in something other than hugs I'd be in the poor house right now!  So all in all a super fantastic, good kid, day!

Flashbacks....

Since today was chock full of a million things and not a one included taking pictures, I decided to post one of some really cute boys washing dishes in a stream in Alaska. Well, one is washing dishes, the other is just looking cute.....wait, if memory serves me, both were just looking cute and I ended up doing the dishes. Oh never mind, here are some cute boys! So all in all a super fantastic, forgot my camera, day!

Energy....

Buddy came home from school yesterday and announced that he wanted to build a go-cart that was powered by wind, solar and guinea pig energy! Hmmmmm. That just makes me wonder what the heck are they teaching in school these days?
And this makes me wonder if Buddy can't is not only color blind, but perhaps horizontally striped blind too?
That would explain a lot! So all in all a super fantastically not matching, and not caring, day!

Object of affection.....

Buddy has really gotten attached to the plungers from the Blue and Gold Banquet....
Seriously, I went to go sit beside him on the couch and he was snuggling it!  Whatever works I guess. Maybe that means he'll be snuggling with the plunger instead of climbing into my bed in the middle of the night?
One can only hope I guess....Just kidding, I think I would actually miss him coming in to snuggle with me at 4 in the morning, I would sleep better, but I would miss him! So all in all a super fantastic, getting good use out of those plungers, day!
