Launch Party!

The other day Buddy wanted to invite some of his cousins over for what he called a "launch party". Not sure where he heard that phrase, but I did ask what we were launching, his answer... "why singing and dancing of course!"
So here are a few pictures from Buddy's first annual launch party ...


Today was Buddy's first day of kindergarten (all day, every day), I would like to announce that I proudly walked him there, dropped him off and was glad that he was growing up. Like I said, I'd like to announce that, instead the instant I walked out the door I was a ball of blubbering mush and called my mother ( I won't say how many times). He on the other hand, walked in and gave his teacher (who happened to be his preschool teacher) a hug and then started scoping out all the new girls in his class.
Here's the only picture I could take before I broke down into a goo ball and embarrassed the poor boy...

(I think the look he's giving me is the, gee mom, could you hurry up, there are some important things I need to be doing.)
So all in all a super fantastic, growing up kind of day!

Squirrel Gravy?

I walked into my parents kitchen this morning to forage (don't judge me, I like my mom's) and she had a recipe book opened this recipe...

I know we're from the south and my sister and I have been known to fight over who eats the chicken gizzard(seriously it's good), but squirrel gravy? Really? Do those who make squirrel gravy need a recipe? So the question remains, what do you do after you eat your squirrel gravy? Well, since your insides are probably all twisted up, you just need to play a good ole' fashioned game of Twister to re-righten(I'm a nurse, re-righten is totally a professional term, trust me)your insides!

So all in all, a super fantastic, I'm including the rest of the recipe for your de-boning pleasure (you're welcome), day!

Innocence...

In six short days, my sweet little baby is going to start kindergarten. I'm trying to put on a brave face that it's going to be fantastic for him. Well it is, but I'm not sure I'm ready to give up my thoughts of Buddy being my very, very little boy. I guess they need to grow up sometime. At least when he goes to college he's already told me that I can be his roommate ( I was thinking about getting my masters anyway), and when he gets married, he's says he's still going to live with me (by the way, don't be jealous but he already has reserved seating for me in the engine when he's the engineer of the shinkansen). Hmmm, I wonder if he will change his mind? In the meantime, I'm getting all the snuggles and taking as many pictures of the evidence that he was little once that I can!

All in all six more fantastically blissful days of youth to go!

Embarrassed?

Sometimes when you have a "little sister" and you've been playing with her and your mother whips out the camera, the only thing you can do is turn your back to them and pretend it never happened!

All in all a super fantastic, we've got our eyes (at least we thought we did) on you, day!

Hanging out...

Today I went for a MRI of my back (no worries, just 15 years of being a nurse has finally gotten to me). I was placed in a long tunnel, with very loud noises, and held as still as possible (mind you I've seen many a MRI done, usually with patients that are totally out of it and moving around). I thought I was doing a good job, then I was told that I needed to breathe through my chest and not use my belly. Really? Have you ever tried to lay on your back and just breathe through your chest? I did for the next 30 minutes. I'm pretty sure it didn't work! Buddy had wanted to come too, anything with tunnels and loud noises has to be exciting, right?
Afterwards, I hand selected my favorite kids (OK, they were the only ones at my parents) and decided to play a game of who can break a bone first!






By the way, a girl next to us won! But I'm thinking climbing in an A-line skirt may not have been choice outfit of the year, but who am I to judge, I use my stomach muscles when I breathe!
So all in all a very super fantastic, climbing up the walls day!

Heaven...

Previously I posted that This is the Place was like heaven to Buddy, I changed my mind. Heaven is being surrounded by seven fantastically fun cousins and then having some of them play Lego's with you while at a slumber party at your house!

All in all, a super fantastic day!

Sea-sick...

It seems the kids ran into a rough patch while at This is the Place, somehow Hyrum is weathering the storm quite nicely.

Oh well, after a good tooth brushing, the kids enjoyed the rest of their adventure, minus the puking...
