And the award goes to....

So how do you keep a 6 year old occupied on the island of Hawaii when you are baked to a crisp and unable to step a foot out into the sun without crying for your mama? We are very, very lucky, we are renting a house that has an attic... an attic that is that has lots and lots of someone Else's "treasures". So here's to Buddy, winner of the best kid of the day award, and receipent of the "what the heck is this" award!!!!

What does a kid have to do to just go surfing around here? Hopefully tomorrow I won't be thinking a skin graft may be in my future and we'll get to explore some more! In the mean time, we'll just sit on the lanai with our mixed drinks!!

So all in all a super fantastic, well at least it's still Hawaii, day!

Lucky?

So we took Buddy to register for school today. Buddy must have eaten Lucky Charms this morning because they said we were all ready, except he hadn't had a TB test. How is he so lucky? Poor kid can't go to school until the test is administered and then read 2 days later. That means he can't even go to school until late Friday and guess what next week is, if you guessed SPRING BREAK you are totally right! So instead of a day of higher education at school, Buddy got a little intro to reading the tides, currents and the basics of surfing (OK it was really boogie boarding, but he likes to call it surfing, so who am I to stand in his way). Here he is practicing his moves on the sand before he hit the waves, just like POINT BREAK if you ask me!

Some of us unfortunately forgot our Lucky Charms...

Pardon the nakedness, and I was trying to suck in, which really isn't that effective on my back, but just so you know I tried to not make the picture quite so shocking. Of course Buddy was my photographer and he really thought it'd be funny to show my butt, I think we went through 20 pictures before we finally got this one. So Buddy wants to go surfing tomorrow, maybe I'll find another layer of skin before then!
So all in all a super fantastic, someone is seriously lucky, day!

Uninvited....

So it appears we have some freeloaders in our midst! I mean it is Hawaii, so who can blame them, but seriously, do they have to bring their whole families? And really, do they have to be always climbing up the walls, and leaving their droppings everywhere?

Of course Buddy, being the pure boy he is has spent most of the day chasing them around the house and catching them, that is after our obligatory hanging out at the beach...

I've been finding Buddy in all kinds of positions today while he's been chasing his prey...

He's caught 4 gecko's so far today, one was even inside the grocery store we went to, I think I'll start calling him Buddy the Great Gecko Hunter...

I wonder if people will pay money for that?
So for now a super fantastic, chasing geckos, day!

Home Sweet Home...

Did you know we moved to Hawaii? Not that Buddy or I are so super excited about the move. We took a very exhaustingly, long trip to Seattle to visit the in-laws and drop off the car. Buddy was sure to tell EVERY SINGLE PERSON he saw during that trip (mind you it took two days and a hotel overnighter) that we were driving (by ourselves of course) to Seattle and then moving to Hawaii. I passed it off as just a cute kid thing, but on the inside, let me assure you I was bursting to tell them the exact same information (minus the alone part, so we could escape the freaky roadside killers). Approximately 2 hours ago we arrived at our new home, where we took off our shoes, and watched a beautiful sunset from our lanai. So here is just a mishmash of pictures of the house we are renting, of course with it's own lemon tree, and a little smidgen of some cute Buddy pictures, because who can resist (I know I can't)....

Buddy wanted to send a shout out to his peeps from Dancing Moose Montessori, of course a shout out in Buddy style...

So all in all a very super, very surreal, fantastic, day!

Embarassed?...

I'm starting to wonder if my dad is embarrassed by the crew of ragamuffins that keep surrounding him.....

Nah, who could be embarrassed of this?

All in all a very super fantastic, family party day, and specifically to my brother John..... ALOHA!!!!!!!

Hard working...

We haven't posted in a week, that's because Buddy has been hard at work. First redecorating mamaw's house while she was away...

Then our container arrived for our big move...

So someone had to prepare it for moving in our furniture. As you can see I'm pretty helpful. I sent papaw in to help while I supervised...

Maybe I shouldn't show the pictures of him wearing the harness I put on him to help hoist the couch into the truck bed? Oh well, I'll just post another of him redecorating...

For a small fee, he'll redecorate your house too! You know you're tempted!
So all in all a super fantastic, anxiously awaiting our retirement, day!

Starstruck....

One of Buddy's teacher's is an actress, yesterday we went to one of her plays. Some one's mother didn't pay attention and notice that his teacher was only in the play every other day. Someone wasn't happy with their mother, although that certain someone loved the play and said "it's better than the movies"! Tonight I corrected my mistake and we went to go see Mrs. Erin in HAIRSPRAY. She played Amber the mean one, and boy did she do a fantastic job! Buddy was so awestruck he didn't wipe that goofy grin off his face until, well, actually he's sleeping with it on. He kept leaning over and confessing his undying love to Mrs. Erin through the entire play. Then he gave her a standing ovation every time she came on stage. She even gave him a backstage tour, poor boy just held her hand the whole time and couldn't even talk he was so in awe of her. Hopefully she'll bring some pliers to school tomorrow so she can get him off of her, because the way things were looking she has no hope of escaping his schoolboy advances! At the end of the show he announced that he wanted to be an actor, thankfully we are one step ahead of the game and already have our head shots...

Watch out world, here he comes!!!
All in all a very super fantastic, loving on Mrs. Erin, day!
