Building bridges...

Shane's family has been in town, timing turned out pretty well for that since this week was Shane's birthday, we even went out to dinner to celebrate the occasion....

Then today, we decided to take them down into Pololu'u Valley, which was a great idea, till we realized it had been raining for a while and flooded out the creek. Thank goodness for our building knowledge, or possible great anxiety of getting cold wet feet? 

As soon as the bridge was built, all the other travelers started using that too.....I'm not too sure that was the best idea, since that meant more foot traffic on the other side that had been a bit more secluded just minutes earlier. Oh well, Kiara and I celebrated by showing off our flexibility and balancing skills.... 

Kiara seriously needs more help!!!! Ha!!!! Then Buddy's mouth started to not feel well, and his mouth started bleeding, so we had to high tail it out of the valley.  Too bad we couldn't find any resting spots with a view...

All I have to say is Buddy has fantastic timing, because as soon as we got near the top it started pouring rain......once we got him into the car, he started pouring snores.....

So all in all a super fantastic,  at least he's feeling good enough to play video games......grrrr, day!

That is your answer! Tomorrow, he gets to go to work with me! I'm not sure if it's a perk or not that I work in an infirmary with an isolation room? We'll pretend it is! So all in all a not really super fantastic, isolating, day!

Crud....

Buddy was better this morning, then he got worse again....

I forsee many more doctors visits in our very near future! So all in all a super, not fantastic, but the crying has stopped....only because he's sleeping, day!

Does misery REALLY love company?????

Buddy kept me up all night moaning in pain. I was on some serious mothering duty with my running back and forth between Buddy and my medicine cabinet (which is totally overflowing these days). I'm not sure if it's a good thing I'm a nurse or not at this point, with all of the concoctions I've been creating to help the kid out. This morning we landed in the hospital for a few  hours for some tests, a lot of pictures, an ENT consult in Oahu and the results are......

Bring him back in the morning for further evaluation!!!!!

Okay, they did give him a huge dose of steriods, and started him on 2 antibiotics, as well as more antipyuretics in the ED. But seriously, they said the word "necrotizing" and "watch him closely to see if his mouth starts turning blue"??????Seriously??????? So we're home, we're exhausted, but hey, at least he's not blue yet!!!!! I did call my boss right after that necrotizing comment, that probably wasn't the best of ideas because somehow my waterworks got released and poured onto her.....but long story short, I won't be going back to work for at least a week.....Have I ever mentioned how nice my boss is? So all in all a super, not really fantastic, day!

Hiking can be hazardous to your health.....

We hiked on Sunday, and Buddy started doing this on Monday......

After a round of antibiotics, antipyretics and pain medications round the clock, 6 days later and Buddy is still here! At least I'm getting all of my Disney movies in! So all in all a super fantastic, seriously, this is getting ridiculous, day!

What goes down must come up.....

Buddy has been really busy lately.......busy cuddling guinea pigs that is......

After the aforementioned cuddling, I got a bit stir crazy sitting around the house just cuddling!!!!! I mean, I like cuddling and all, but two weeks of just sitting around the house cuddling was ENOUGH!!!!! So I mandated a family jaunt.....

 of course you can't mandate a jaunt, without mandating cuddles....because hey, after two weeks, we're kind of pros!!!!

 We also added a ropes course to our mandated jaunt....

 It was pretty awesome, we're planning a repeat Saturday since we didn't have time to explore as much as we wanted to!

 Turns out, it's pretty awesome to mandate things! So all in all a super fantastic, mandatory, day!

Passing on the cooties....

I came back from Utah sick, then the next day I powered through my sickness to join my running club, which only powered up my sick-o-meter!!!!  Turns out that you probably shouldn't run in a group when you have strep and a double ear infection. Buddy lucked out with my horrible laziness when I sent him to a dinner with a former co-worker.....

and forced him to play our newest version of scrabble.....

Honestly, this is the best newest game ever!!!! You have to make the word look coherent, pronounceable and with a complete definition....you have 10 seconds. It was awesome, best fun we've had all week, of course I've been laying down most of the other time, but hey, still the best fun! So all in all a super fantastic, guess who is coughing now, day!
