Metal Mouth....

You know, you just plain look silly when you're standing all alone with sand on your head....
Of course when there are two of you.....
That's a whole other story!!!!! In other news, Buddy got his braces today....
He stared at himself for a good 5 minutes while the orthodontist was talking to me, giving himself the goofiest of grins! Nothing like a little bling to make you look goofier!!!!! He is quite proud, and in pain, but mostly proud. Also today was the Blue and Gold Banquet. The boys had a blast, but Shane was sure to tell me that I need to be louder......errrr, pretty certain my voice isn't going to be deepening any time soon (well, I think I'm going through menopause, so maybe it is). Also at some point some of the kids got confused and didn't go to all the game stations and thought they had to stay at the same one......which actually has me close to tears because the Budster was one of those kids and he never got to do the plunger crawl with me. I was wondering why he kept at one of the games, turns out he thought he had to stay at the one he initially got placed in....turns out I'm really bad at giving directions! Anyway, here are the games: we had (my favorite) plunger crawl....
There was spitball bell ringing....

And obstacle course racing, complete with a plunger bow at the end...

The kids had to carry as many boxes as possible around the obstacle course..
Thankfully that one is all over now because I've been saving boxes at my house for 2 months now, we are quite happy to be able to actually walk into the laundry room again!!!!! The boys did some skits.....
Which was quite the crowd pleaser...
And one of the mom's made the most bomb-diggity decorations ever!!!!!!!

Can you say holy cow patties that lady is GIFTED WITH AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!  So now we're home and I am exhausted and still slightly sad that some of the kids didn't know they were suppose to cycle between stations....and that I didn't get any pictures of Buddy.....or that I didn't get to race Buddy in the plunger crawl! Oh well, next time, so all in all a super fantastic, letting it be, day!

Girls night out.....

I went to a baby shower tonight to hang out with the girls, apparently Buddy didn't need to go to a shower to hang out with a bunch of girls....
Hmmmm, maybe next time I'll wise up and stay home! FYI-Buddy wants to make sure everyone knows that he didn't really like the girls night....a little too "girlie" for him (although they were playing chutes and ladders with a Diego board, and you can't get more manly than that)!!!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, 2 days till braces, day!

Top of the world....

Buddy has been BEGGING for a very long time for us to take him up to the snow on Mauna Kea because he "misses it  [the snow] soooo much".  Today was his day....

Hopefully that meets our quota for the next 3 years! So all in all a super fantastic, making ice pops out of ice, day!

Helping hands.....

Is it awkward that we've been playing non-stop with the plungers intended for the Blue and Gold banquet?.....

Maybe I should just pretend that the boys are just in charge of quality control for the games we're going to be playing? Errrr, I'll go with that, otherwise I'd just feel weird about it all. In other news, Buddy finally met his match....
So all in all a super fantastic, helping hands, day!

PhD?

The other day, Buddy had a field trip and I was lucky enough for the teacher to ask if I could be a chaperone ( I think me stalking Buddy's classroom all the time is starting to really pay off). Anyway, I was trying to get Buddy to hurry to school that day because the bus was going to leave for Hilo at 8:10 and my boy was just standing in front of the bathroom mirror....
When I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was just getting some practice in on wiggling one ear at a time.....I guess that takes precedence over a field trip? Anyway, we went to the Imiloa Astronomy Center....actually we went on a very long bus ride and happened to make a pit stop at the Astronomy Center....

When I was looking at the picture above I was thinking I needed to somehow make a note so you knew which one was Buddy.....but I think he's pretty easy to pick him out! I have to admit, the educators at the Center were awesome! They were super excited to teach and the kids gobbled it up! At one point one of the astronomers (yes, the educators were astronomers, which I'll say is pretty darn cool)  asked the kids what an exoplanet is, Buddy raised his hand and gave quite a lengthy response . After Buddy was done answering the question, I told his teacher I didn't even know what that was.....that's when his teacher said, "you know I don't know how he does it, he can go from the goofiest kid on the planet, to having a PhD the next second".  In other news, today we got our shipment of plungers from the mainland today (translation for that is, one of the other mom's in Cub Scouts had family come to visit and they brought us 10 plungers from the dollar store for our Blue and Gold banquet next week)....

I've never been so excited about plungers in my life.....Buddy is excited too...if you couldn't tell. Although, after he played with them for a while he wanted to "test" them in the toilet. Call me silly, but that's the last thing I ever want to do with a plunger (now I'm shuddering with vividly disgusting memories)....Blech! So  all in all a super fantastic, preparing for our doctorate....possibly in plunger utilization, day!

Big boy....

When Buddy got home from school, I let him watch a show on Netflix for a break before starting his homework. He picked a show called "Alaska's Mythical Monsters". He was very intrigued by the start of the show which began with multiple alleged citings of Sasquatch.....He was also very scared......which led to him come to stop  me from cleaning the house so I could sit next to him and suffer along right beside of him through the program...
Is it totally wrong that I hope part of him never grows up so he'll always want me to keep him safe? In other news, Buddy is a fantastic babysitter!
Just ask him! So all in all a super fantastic, growing up, but hopefully not too fast, day!

Assimilation....

Buddy turned one of his robot toys into a spy machine today.....
He had my phone connected to Shane's phone via Facetime so they could spy from another room. Should I mention here that the robot walked in on me in the shower and someone giggled their head off (thankfully, for my self esteem, not Shane)! So all in all a super fantastic, crafty, day!
