Lab partners....

Sunday was my 12th year anniversary. I usually post something to celebrate the occasion....but I'll be honest, I was a little peeved that my husband is about as romantic as a box of rocks. Honestly, I should have been happy I didn't get a box of rocks for my anniversary gift. Somehow, every year, I wake up with a temporary case of amnesia thinking my husband is going to woo the pants off of me (errr, pretend I didn't write that mom and dad). I think I'm going to wake up to roses, expensive jewelry and a long walk on the beach (OK, I just don't understand not getting the last one, I live on Hawaii for goodness sake).  Shane is not that kind of man, never has been and even if I'm married to him for 50 more years he will never be that man.
Anyway, we have been trying very hard to get pregnant....not that we haven't tried for the last 9 years, but with me turning 42 this year I feel like we have suddenly turned into a football team with only 2 minutes left on the clock and we are down 1 (OK, let's pretend I actually understand football lingo). Anyway, we've been getting some help from science, physics and the general medical world. Today while Shane was helping me out with this months' attempt, I thought....he may not be romantic, but he is a really great science partner, and that's way better than roses! So all in all a super fantastic, hopefully acing our science exam, day!

Company of others....

A few days ago Buddy got the most awesome present in the universe! He got a sulu ( there is a whole name to it, but I have the memory of a gnat) dress wrap from one of the mom's in our ward. Buddy has wanted one ever since we moved here (think dress skirt for men). Problem was, we couldn't find one....turns out they aren't Hawaiian, they're Fijian.....and they don't sell them online, you actually have to go to Fiji to pick one up. Who knew????  The only reason I know this is because 2 of Buddy's friends wore some to church one day and it started off the whole infatuation with the sulu, and me inquiring how to obtain one. Unfortunately, we have no plans  in the near future to visit Fiji (but we totally should, right?). Anyway, turns out, this family was awesome enough to think of Buddy when the dad was in Fiji visiting family( how beyond awesome is that?)! When Buddy showed up to church today he got razzed a little by one of the haole dads standing by the door. Buddy immediately wanted to take it off and started to be a little embarrassed. Thankfully, his friends pulled through and wore theirs today to save the day (I didn't catch a picture with all three of them)...

Just goes to show you that sometimes if you feel awkward and weird about something, if you just hang on a little bit longer, you'll probably find a few more people doing the exact same thing to make you feel AWESOME!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, strength in numbers, day!

Competition....

We had our pack night tonight. The new Cub Master was out of town, so I figured I'd get my last kicks in with the boys...It's amazing how you can get those kids to do anything if you tell them there is a game involved...
I'm thinking I should have just had them lay on the floor for the last year and half! Genius! Just kidding, it got better through the night! Now when I say better, I truly mean it in the only possibly Cub Scout way....LOUDER AND MORE CHAOTIC!!!!

The boys had a hopping blast....too bad we don't have pictures of the parents on the opposite side racing....

Or maybe it's a good thing we don't have those pictures!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, parents totally whooped the Cub Scouts tonight, day!

The wind beneath my wings....or something like that!

The wind was blowing pretty hard today when Buddy was leaving school. Buddy, ever the scientist, wanted to show some of his friends that the wind was so strong it could carry away even something as heavy as water....
Make sure to enlarge that picture!!!!
Did you do it yet? Yep, that's my genius of a son blowing water into the wind...unfortunately he forgot something called wind direction! Oh well, at least he could cool himself off! In other news, we hung out with the littlest Larson  (who is way taller than me) and her family. I'm not sure, but I think the kids get along....
Too bad the picture is blurry....hams if I've ever seen them! Of course, the deal was sealed when Buddy went to go talk to another diner (small town, so the chances of knowing someone else is greater) and the little boy wanted to stand by Buddy, so when he did, Buddy put an arm around him and kept talking with his friend! What a good boy...except for not knowing how to measure wind directions apparently! So all in all a super fantastic, blowing against the wind, day!

Grown Up?

When I was growing up, my best friend in the whole wide world was Kim Larson.  That girl was FUN!!!!! Since I was the youngest at home, once my sister left for college, it was just me and my parents, IT WAS BORING!!!! At Kim's house, there were 6 kids and Kim was the oldest...and her parents were actually fun (because they weren't mine, I assure you my parents are equally as awesome, but let's face it, I'm pretty certain few parents pass muster when you're a teenager), So with my house being boring and her's being extraordinarily fun, most of my weekends included me hanging out with the Larsons!
Kim's the one getting the bubble popped with the croquet mallet! (This isn't a picture of her family, just a picture from the good ole' BYU days from when we were roommates). Anyway,  the youngest of the Larson Clan happens to be visiting my island this week. Today, that little Larson that I grew up with, came over for dinner today. I swear the last time I saw her she was  6 (OK, the math doesn't really add up on that one, but it seemed like she was 6 to the 17 year old me). Now, she's at least 4 inches taller than me, married and expecting her third kid! What???? Seriously??? What is up with people growing up?
What?????
Sheesh, that's better! There's the little goober I know and love! So all in all a super fantastic, flashing back, day!

My foot!

I hurt my foot over a month ago...it hurts constantly, but a little less when someone holds the gimpy part in the middle. No matter what I promised, neither of my boys would touch my gimpy foot! Seriously, what is this world coming to? So all in all, I wish I could say super fantastic, but no one would hold my foot, day.

FYI: before people start asking about my foot, I've had an X-ray twice, to  which the doctor's office will only report to me that it's not broken. At least with this last X-ray, they called right after to schedule an MRI. Of course this being a booming metropolis with accessible healthcare on every block, I still have another week and a half before I get my MRI! Call me crazy, but the fact that I can't walk without pain and there is a huge lump in the middle of my foot, I'm going to go with there is something funky going on there....but that's just a guess!

Boy talk....

Tonight while I was cuddling the Budster  before bed, he told me "Poop", then he was kind enough to translate that "poop means: I love you".....I'm pretty sure I'm the most loved mama in the world in that case. In other news of my awesome mamaness, yesterday, I went to work for a few hours. I cleared it with Buddy the day before, that  he would be OK being left alone for an hour between the time I left and the time Shane got home from work. Buddy assured me he would be fantastic, and then 3 minutes before I left, he started getting scared. I'm talking about to cry, getting nervous scared.  The whole scenario lead to this today....
That would be my boy taking flowers to the MOST FANTASTIC NEIGHBORS OF THE UNIVERSE, that invited my boy to hang out with them so he wouldn't be afraid anymore. Now I'm just wondering if he was just looking at himself in the mirror freaking himself out? I think we may need to reconsider his wardrobe on the days that I work! Also, in other news, the Cub Scouts went on a hike today to a fresh water pond in Kiholo Bay...
This is them in a lava tube with fresh water in it, it's pretty darn awesome...and pretty darn dark!
The boys had a fantastic time, I can't figure out which part I personally loved the best, hiking over lava with a broken foot....or the part where my period started full force, which led to one of the boys pointing out that I was bleeding to everyone (most of the parents, and the missionaries tagged along on this one)! I'm pretty certain it's  a really good thing I have no shame anymore! Oh well, we're home and I'm looking for a Red Tent to go live in for the next week like they did in biblical days. I think I could totally be down with that! So all in all a super fantastic, poop, day!
