Buddy and I have been living it up since we got to Utah to visit my parents....Buddy discovered a thing called "vinyl records"....it became a lot more intriguing when my mom introduced him to a "record player". Buddy immediately requested to go to the nearest DI (deseret industries, or thrift store for those of you not anywhere near Utah). He picked up the only 2 records that didn't have scratches, a Flinstone record and one about a whale. Buddy thought they were super weird so he went back to repetitively listening to my dad's Lawerence Welk collection (I'll be honest, it's not bad)!
We ended up going to a Guitar Center Store yesterday, basically, just because we could...
Buddy was in heaven, the angels around him in that heaven encouraged him to play EVERY SINGLE INSTRUMENT he could get his hands on.......we, of course, walked away with a new mandolin. Thankfully, Buddy had his skyped music lesson last night and his teacher (that I absolutely love) was super excited about Buddy's new purchase and told him that the mandolin was his favorite instrument! I'll take that as high praise for the instrument from a guy that plays 15 instruments!!!! So yay on Buddy and his choices! Buddy also picked up a new vinyl record at the Guitar Center. We have been listening to Star Wars all day, I'll be honest, it's not bad either. I'm thinking my kid MIGHT actually have some good taste in music! Since we've been in Utah, Buddy has suckered multiple family members into letting him drive their riding lawn mowers. He somehow got my sister's stuck on a rock....which I'm only just now realizing I forgot to help him unstick....whoops, sorry Donna. Then two days ago he got my dad's out and then thought it'd be really funny to chase me in the backyard with it. I was actually pretty appreciative of the effort, since I've been eating too much of my mother's cooking since I've been here and have needed to drop a few pounds. I think my dad might've been in on the cahoots...but not for the weight loss, probably for the payback of being a horrible teenager!
On Saturday, we went to a store where we ran into two of my nieces and my nephew-in-law. Buddy was so excited to see other humans not over the age of 40, that I took them go-cart racing to celebrate....
They were pretty stoked if you can't tell! We also went to play Laser tag and I tried to send my oldest niece into labor to help my sister out.....it didn't work unfortunately, but the kids had a great time nonetheless! Monday, I took Buddy to Lagoon (local amusement park)....
and shoved him into as many rides as I could handle! Yesterday, we went indoor rock climbing! Buddy loves rock climbing, and unfortunately there is nowhere to go on our island, so we finally went. Buddy is finally old enough to belay me, so this is the first time in forever that I've gotten to climb! I'll be honest, I was nervous that he would let me fall to my death with the first couple of climbs. He did fantastic! Although he thought it extremely hilarious to keep me a foot of the ground when he got me down EVERY SINGLE TIME! Here is the one and only picture, because I didn't want either one of us to get distracted because death by fall sounds horrific!....
Not sure of what the plan is for today, tomorrow he wants to make it over to Zions National Park....not sure if that is going to happen since there has been a ton of flooding in this state, but we'll see! So all in all a super fantastic, kinda tired, day!
