Halftime....

Buddy is not a huge fan of church...God, yes, church....not so much! While he was stretched out across me during Sacrament meeting (his usual stance, if not actually in my lap being rocked like a baby...trust me, you have to see it, it's quite funny to see because he lip syncs to all the crying babies to increase the dramatic effect of it all). Anyway, back to my story, Buddy was draped across me during Sacrament and then I hit him in the arm and told him he needed to fold his arms and close his eyes for the Sacrament prayer. To that he responded with a joyful glee "It's already halftime? Yay"!!!! Seriously, this boy!

In other news, Shane's mom and step dad have arrived. I've already suckered them into helping me with the Boy Scouts this Thursday as accident victims for our First Aid Merit Badge.....heehee, grandparents are good for suckering into things! So all in all a super fantastic, apparently loving our halftimes, day!

All the cool kids.....

Over the past weekend we've had 2 different sets of friends come visit us from Utah. I would say we're pretty popular...until I look at the statistics. 2 different sets of friends to visit for 4 days  during our last 5 years here, is pretty much not the definition of popular. But that's okay, because who cares about popularity when you know you're really hanging with the cool kids. It's starts young folks!!! Exhibit A....
That's Buddy and his friend Kohki in the Peace March at school on Friday. I didn't realize what Kohki's sign said until last night when I enlarged the picture....then I giggled my head off and thought Buddy had picked a good friend with that one!
The next day, when we hung out with our friend Dave, Buddy decided that Shane and I had picked a good friend.....and then proceeded to harass him into playing with him at the beach ALL DAY LONG....
But more importantly, Buddy leeched EVERY SINGLE CAR RIDE he could out of Dave....
Then he FINALLY decided he was done using Dave, so he booted him out of the picture completely....
Yep, that's my boy! So all in all a super fantastic, Buddy's stealing all our friends, day!

Ideal life...

Sometimes I like to believe I my life is like an episode of "Father Knows Best", with our sweet little family and idyllic ways.....
Then I remember that it's more like the "Three Stooges" around these parts

So all in all a super fantastic, life in the movies, day!

Awakenings....

Yesterday the boys were doing some maintenance on the rat cage. While they were doing the updating they put Tiny (the rat) on my couch to play and hang out. Then we all went to bed.....you know where this is going, don't you? Around 5 in the morning our motion sensor light went off in our bathroom....which was a little weird, I rolled over in bed and the sheets kept pulling on me weird. So I readjusted the sheets and it still felt really weird around my arms. So I turned on my phone light and lo and behold a nasty little rat was staring right at me! I picked it up to put it back in the cage, cursing the boys the whole stumbly way back to Buddy's room. The rat started squiggling and fighting me....our rat does not squiggle and fight, which had my 5 am comatose brain praying that this was truly our rat and not an impostor that had snuck it's way to my bed! Finally, I reached the caged and it was empty....huzzah, it was our rat and not a rabies infested sewer rat that was fighting me! The boys got a stern talking to when I returned to bed...they just laughed!!!!! BOYS!!!!! In other news, Buddy went to the doctor's yesterday for the umpteenth time this week because of a stupid cough that they keep kicking him out of school for, and today I became an MD because I'm diagnosing my kid and giving my second opinion that includes drinking a smoothie
and riding it out!!!! I'm pretty certain he won't get kicked out of school anymore! In other, other news, a few months ago I forced Buddy into joining rugby because his tweenage rollercoaster was making me crazy...so I thought tackling others would help him get that emotion out. He hated it!!! He cried and cried after the first practice saying the kids were mean (which I don't doubt, don't be messing with the Polynesians and their rugby now) and that he didn't want to go back.  He pleaded for me to talk to the kids and his coaches so they would be nicer. I forced him to go, told him to just tell the kids that he didn't know the rules and ask them for guidance and boom! Today, 2 1/2 months later, I ask him if he wants to skip rugby because we have some family friends in town and "no, I really like rugby, I'd rather go" was the answer....and then I fainted! So all in all a super fantastic, recovering from my fainting episode, day!

Tit for tat.....

Sheesh!!! What is it with kids these days? You force them into an undersized chair so you can laugh relentlessly at them...in public of course....
And then they revolt and force their nasty feet on your head in the morning!
That's okay, I showed those boys, they may have dirty feet, but my hair hadn't been washed in 4 days so I'm not sure who really won that game of grossness! So all in all a super fantastic,
maybe you had to be there, day!

Breaking our break....

Buddy totally lucked out this winter break...not only did he get horribly sick on Christmas, but he also got to spend his last week of winter break hanging with his best friend. Errrrr, that didn't come out right.....that makes hanging with his best friend sound horrible, or maybe being sick on Christmas was super awesome? The boys made this awesomeness (video included)....
Of course the boys broke it about 5 seconds later, but thank goodness for the awesome people that make tinker crates, because another one is in the mail! Seriously...I love tinker crates and I'll be honest, this one is my favoritest ( I assure you that's a word) so far! Unfortunately, we didn't get around to doing too much on our break.....

That would be a game of night time Ski Ball the boys came up with....thank goodness for our multi-faceted skate park! I think the teenagers that snuck into the skate park while we were there were totally jealous of our awesomeness....or slightly peeved at being interrupted, I'm totally going for jealous though! After a while the lingering stench of two tweenage boys just hanging around the house all day got to be a little overpowering though....thank goodness they make water for that...

There was even a spin cycle to really get the smell out! Unfortunately, that water was just a little too salty and sandy to really get them clean so we had to go in search of some fresh water (because a shower would just be too boring). Fresh water found!!!!!

Fresh water dunking completed....

Although I'm not too sure how clean you can really get with a wet suit on...
But I'm not one to argue with awesomeness! So all in all a super fantastic, glad he's back at school today so I can continue to be lazy, day!

Tween sitting....

Buddy's best friend's mom went on a vacation to Disneyland....without taking Buddy's best friend.....Sucks for him, but total score for us! I just had to gear up for the job....
Who knew a trash can would be so handy with tweenage boys....well, in retrospect, that one's kind of a no brainer!!! Yesterday, I took them to a PG-13 movie. Yesterday, I walked them out of a PG-13 movie. To make amends for my poor decisions (not for walking out of the movie, it was horrible, but for thinking the movie would be okay in the first place.....oh Will Ferrell, why do you have to have such a dirty, dirty mouth?) I tortured them with a submarine ride....

Ahhh, these boys! They're just to easy to please! Let's get back to the torturing....
Yep, that's better! So all in all a super fantastic, is it tweeny sitting or tween sitting, day.
