Game day...

Is it me, or do these boys really know how to prep for a game. First, combat stretching...
Then of course the most important preparation you could do....putting your game face on....
Yep, all that hard work totally paid off! In other news, it's my anniversary. Me and my love already went out to have a romantic dinner, at an early bird special....and here I thought we have only been married for 11 years, not 100! We also walked away with 4 left over containers of food, because not only have we been married for 100 years, we are also turning into food hoarders! Hmmmm, I guess there could be worse things!  So all in all a super fantastic, celebrating, day!

Bad to the bone...

You don't want to mess with us, we are apparently a tough crowd....
Nah, just messing with you....I enforced a sick day for the Budster (AKA a walking germ spreading machine) He only stopped complaining when when he called his teacher to get his homework assignment? Seriously, who is teaching this kid responsibility, because apparently I'm only teaching him swagger.....
In other news, I made Buddy the Breeding family sick day staple....
Which means that he will be completely healed by morning, at least I'm hoping so, because my anniversary is tomorrow and I planned a romantic dinner for two, not three! Oh well, I can quickly shuffle things around and not feed Shane....I'm a good re-organizer, can you tell? So all in all a super fantastic, living the gangsta life, day!

Who is this kid....and mustache party here we come!

Buddy has woken up with a sore throat the past 3 days and is progressively going down that all too familiar road to sickie land! When I picked him up from school today, I mentioned that he was getting so sick, that maybe he should stay home tomorrow and rest. His response,"no mom, I can't miss tomorrow we are putting together our portfolios and that is probably important". Ha! I had to look in the back seat to make sure I picked up the right kid, that's when I saw him reading the newspaper?.......Wait, what happened to my hooky playing, seizure faking Buddy?  Buddy is loving this year, he even rushed inside the house once we got home, so he could work on his writing assignment (in case you are new to this blog, getting Buddy to write one sentence in the past has led to more than a half an hour of tears and thrashing on the floor in a pathetic lump)! Of course, the fact that the writing assignment was about Lagoon (Buddy's amusement park of choice), didn't hurt at all. In other news, I saw some really cute kids and offered them some candy....

In other news, remember when I talked about living out my dreams of being in a parade? Tonight, I offered up to live out another of my biggest dreams, the kid(s) that sell at least 10 things of popcorn gets to throw a pie in my face (woohoo, although I am really starting to question my childhood). Anyway, here is the link for Buddy's online sales so hopefully I can mark one more thing off my bucket list...http://www.trails-end.com/?scout=b7143cba0e352f4 ! In other more planning news, I finally came up with several mustache themed games and even though we haven't done them, I thought I'd share since the internet is seriously lacking and someone else might be struggling! Ok, here we go: Sticky stache ,  Vaseline on the face, the face dipped into a bucket of cotton balls then raced to the other end of the course to place all the cotton balls stuck on the face into a empty bucket, first full bucket wins., Steal the stache, I'm going to glue mustaches onto a clothespin and have the kids put the clothespin on their right shoulder. Then the kids will run around and try to grab each others clothespins (they are out when their clothespin gets taken). The last one standing wins. Then find the stache....this is a play off of my LEGO party, but I bought a boat load of mustaches to hide in some jello and they have to find a mustache with either their hands or faces (I'm thinking faces because, let's face it, the messier the better in my book). Then last but not least, splash the stache. I was going to have a few large shaving cream shaped mustaches and let the kids fling water balloons at it. First team to get the mustache to completely disappear wins! Buddy told me he thinks we should have at least  two more games....and here I thought I was a creative genius! Sheesh! Anyway, readers in the anonymous internet abyss, let me know if you can think of any more games....other than pin the mustache on the whatever because no offense to the creators of that game, but it's pretty lame when you're more than 3 (but maybe Buddy and I are just jaded party snobs)! So all in all a super fantastic, give me some ideas, day!

Not for everyone.....

Not everyone was meant to be a game show model....

I truly hope you enlarged that picture of me so you can really appreciate my gimpy eye! In other news, I had a lunch date with a like-minded business partner at the local elementary school....
While I was eating, at least 8 kids approached me to make sure that they are on the  list for Buddy's birthday party .....a whole month away! The kids then launched into a debate which party was the most "epic", their words, not mine! After reminiscing with the kids which party was best: the Boys Only, Wacky Races, Nerf Gun, Lego, or End of School Bash we all decided that they all were "epic". Buddy then decided he wants to have a mustache theme for his birthday party. Unfortunately, Pinterest, who is my usual arch-enemy for too many good ideas has absolutely no  ideas! Grrrr! I guess that means I need to get creative, but stuff like this happens when we get creative around here....

Ok, so I'll let a bunch of kids play around with 20 pounds of sugared candies while I surf the internet for the party.....I think that could work! So all in all a super fantastic, party planning, day!

Spotting....

Maybe it's the fact that I got married by Elvis and my 11th wedding anniversary is this weekend so I may have Elvis on the brain, but I think I had an Elvis sighting at a sushi bar tonight....
I mean, Elvis loves sushi, right! Well, sushi and doing the robot! So all in all a super fantastic, getting an autograph, day!

Shoulders.....

Mothers.....sometimes they give you a shoulder to cry on, and sometimes they just give you a shoulder to climb on....
Who knew that with motherhood,  you not only got to push a bowling ball out of your body, but then you get to become someone's personal jungle gym! Sounds like a total win-win to me! So all in all a super fantastic, climbing on up, day!

Marching orders....

When I was in first grade, I may or may not have led my teacher to believe that I was marching in a parade.... in the front.... as the head baton twirler (I may have been a pathological liar..the baton twirler thing  is nothing compared to the time I told my classmates  I was in the Olympics when I was in second grade) . Today all my parade marching dreams came true....
Of course instead of me in a baton twirler uniform, I was dressed along the lines of this....
Errrr, it really didn't live up to all my childhood dreams, but maybe because I wasn't wearing a sparkly dress and holding a baton. No worries, at Christmas there is another parade held at twilight and one of the other moms has always wanted to make a float! Yay, I get to live out another childhood dream of riding on a float during a parade!!!!I wonder if the boys will mind very much if I crown myself as a princess and wear the frilliest dress I can find and do a continuous princess wave while we go along the parade route? Ahhh, I'm sure they'll be down with that! In other news, I decided since walking slowly in a parade wasn't enough torture for these boys, I should experiment with water chamber torture tactics....
It was raining and they still wouldn't let me "rain on their parade"! Silly boys! In other news, Buddy got a new pet today....
In other, other news, mysterious  miniature smelly packages wrapped in aluminum foil have been found all over my house! So all in all a super fantastic, living the life I always lied about, day!

Entertainment.....

It's good that he can amuse himself for hours on end! So all in all a super fantastic, entertaining, day!

The force is strong with the young one....

Buddy begged to be able to wear his costume to school this morning. He initially wanted to walk to school while playing his "theme" song that I downloaded this morning. Then,  he decided that his cape would wave impressively if he rode his scooter instead! Too bad I'm a horrible mother and decided that he shouldn't wear his costumes for innumerable reasons, one being that it's totally against school rules. Ha, who am I kidding, I'm a total pushover....
I did make him take his costume off before crossing onto school property....cause I'm a rule follower that way. In other news, Buddy may be marching in a parade on Saturday and he is more than excited. Now I'm off to go cuddle with the dark side. So all in all a super fantastic, impressively flapping our capes, day!

Theme songs?

This sweet little thing asked me to make a recording of his theme song so he could play it while he was walking down the halls during school.....
Of course he was dressed like this when he asked.....
So the theme song that he hummed made me a little less afraid and a lot more sense.....Seriously, how awesome is he for only being 8 and  already selecting a theme song! I think if I picked a theme song when I was 8 it would have had something to do with Miss Piggy in it! Miss Piggy seems to pale greatly in comparison to Darth Vader's notorious walking tune! In other news, Buddy's going to be Darth Vader for Halloween....I know, big surprise with him in the costume and all. He's very committed to his role, he's even shaving his head so I can put makeup and fake scars on his head so he can look like the jacked up Darth under the mask! Of course he wants to play his "theme music" while he walks so everyone can get the full effect! Next thing you know, I'll turn into one of those ridiculous mothers that make a Tie Fighter out of cardboard just for Halloween....
Errrr, what was I talking about? In other more awesome, less Halloween news, our friend Alan took this picture of my boy in  Kauai.....
It's making me seriously consider hiring a professional photographer to capture the rest of my ENTIRE LIFE on film.....I'm sure I could get a reasonable rate, plus seriously how awesome would it be if all of the photos of your day to day were by a professional! I'm thinking Photoshop, lighting and angles could really be my friend. Hmmm, I'll have to go over the family budget in the morning! So all in all a super fantastic, thinking of a better theme song, day!

Back to the grind....

The last few nights I've gone to bed at 8:30 like a preschooler, because honestly, I am just that tired! Here are my updates for the last few days that I've been attempting to get my beauty sleep.....(FYI-I still look exactly the same and I'm demanding a refund from the coiner of that phrase)! Anyway, here goes.....Sunday at the butt-crack of dawn we took a helicopter ride over Kauai.....

It was breathtakingly gorgeous....
But truthfully, I was so tired that I would have rather been sleeping......back to that again!  I think there may be a theme going on here!!!!!  We left Kauai Sunday evening and found part of Buddy's Halloween costume in our mailbox. Just so you know Buddy isn't natural....
Well, as far as the color named  on the box is concerned anyway. But then again Buddy being unnatural isn't anything new, is it? As far as the latest news goes, something keeps circling me while I'm in the bathroom trying to do my business. I would squish it, but it's way too cute!
So all in all a super fantastic, going to sleep, day!

Trophy wife?

Shane decided to book us into a ridiculously overpriced resort for our vacation (trust me, I am not complaining, just laying down the facts). Anyway, while we've been staying here we have noticed quite a number of, ummmm, well, "trophy wives". Shane asked me if I'd bee his trophy wife for our stay here....

I'm pretty certain that I have ascertained awesome "trophy wife" status with my " trophy wife" lady like behavior! In other news, we went on a hike that included a rope ladder to get to the beach (awesome)....

Buddy took his boogie board for a walk....
Then he decided it might be funner if he took his dad for a walk (swim) instead.....

After we got sand stuck in every orifice possible to last for a month, we decided we should take a bath.....with a bunch of strangers......in our bathing suits.....
After our awkward bath, we decided to love on each other.....
We almost have that perfected, but I think we may need to practice more, especially before the teenage years set in! Lastly, we went to a pier to take pictures with Shane....
I told Shane to make a goofy face.....I think he's failed miserably!!!!! Thank goodness we have one of these at home to give him some pointers....
Or at least show him how to use his pointer fingers! Then I told Buddy to go jump in a lake!
We couldn't find a lake, so I guess a boring old ocean will have to do! Tomorrow we're going on a helicopter ride. Is it wrong that I could really care less about going on a helicopter ride? Although, now that I have my "trophy wife" status, the hulabaloo has gotten to my head and I just find everything extremely mundane (truth is I have to wake up way too early for the flight and I'd rather sleep in, but that's just me!). So all in all a super fantastic, vying for trophy wife of the year, day!

Mothers!!!!!!!

So what do you do when your son starts grumping during a vacation? You bust out your awesome mama moves and have an impromptu photo shoot....

Duh! Mission accomplished! Not sure which mission I was accomplishing, but I assure you it was thouroughly accomplished! So all in all a super fantastic, raining since we landed on Kauai and ruining my dreams on nonstop lounging by the pool, day!!!!!!

Best laid plans....

A crown from Shane's tooth fell out last week, and he's yet to get it re-cemented in. So, in honor of Shane getting  one step closer to old age, we made him a meal he could gum to death.....
Yeah, he had a meeting after work so Buddy and I were left gumming the meal like 80 year old men! Not too bad, I'm looking forward to my old age.....especially if it means we get to gum away at chocolate pudding every night....
In other news, we're going on an airplane ride tomorrow to Kauai.  Hopefully our plane has a little more leg room than this....
So all in all a super fantastic, seriously soft, day!

Alec...

Did you know that Buddy started out with a completely different name than the one that ended up on his birth certificate? After today,  I'm thinking of going back to my original plans....or perhaps a new nickname....
Alec.....Smart Alec, that is! Today during soccer practice I told him to put his listening ears on, this is his response! FYI-it really didn't help! So all in all a super fantastic, smart Alec, day!
