Celebrations....

Tomorrow is Shane's birthday, the boy's I believe, are helping him ring in his new year...

Believe me, they rang it in well and loudly for about 10 minutes!
For the piece de la resistance, a birthday present for the birthday boy, of course to cover his birthday suit...

Shane must have the best wife ever, just sayin'. Of course maybe she'd be a better wife if she got it to him before his birthday, but we'll just aim to get there before the next one ( we could consider it a two in one).
In other news, Buddy requested to go to Hawaii as soon as possible. So although March 6th isn't exactly today, it's sooner than we initially planned on. Buddy and I have been doing the "going to Hawaii dance" all day. Of course, my mom has been crying on and off all day (she is sure to assure me that she's not upset I'm leaving, just Buddy, and all this time I thought I was her favorite child)!
We looked up the temperature in Waikoloa today, it was 78 degrees, so Buddy and I continued to do our "going to Hawaii" dance and ignored my mothers futile attempts at waylaying our shipping off date. Buddy decided that since we were going so soon he better practice up on his skills...

Of course that would be his fishing skills, with just a net none the less(he'll be as good as a native Hawaiian in no time!
So for now, a super fantastic, counting down the days, day!

One hundred...

Isn't it sweet, Buddy decided to let everyone know on a scale of one to one hundred how much he loves me. Or maybe they were just celebrating the hundredth day of school. Nah, I'll go with the love!
All in all a super fantastic, are we in Hawaii yet, day!

Puppy Dogs...

Dear mom,
If I make this face long enough and whimper loud enough, do you think you will wake out of your "worked night shift, slept for only three hours" stupor? Just wondering?
Love,
Buddy
P.S. mom if that doesn't work how about me jumping cannonballs off of the four poster bed onto your stomach, that should work, right?
All in all a super fantastic, when do I get to retire?, day!

The case of the missing arm...

Does anyone else's six year old like to pretend they are missing appendages and then insist on taking pictures for evidence? Just wondering?
All in all a super fantastic, losing our arms (which I guess is better than our minds), day!

Genteel senses....

Last night my brother's kids were spending the night. It is quite apparent that he is raising his kids a little (OK a lot) more polite and mannered than I'm raising Buddy. Buddy and Elizabeth were playing with the Cowboys and Indians and I overheard this...

Buddy: This horse has a penis, look you can see it.
Elizabeth: Don't say that word!
Buddy: Why shouldn't I say horse?

OK I got a huge giggle out of it, Elizabeth however needed an apology and a discussion with Buddy that some words that we say aren't suitable for those of with a "genteel" nature. She's forgiven us though and now the kids are killing each other....

Just the way it should be! In other news, Shane will be on his way to Maui in a few short hours. Close your eyes for the next mushy part. We love you Shane, you're the best husband I've ever had, and Buddy's favorite dad!
So all in all a super fantastic, sword fighting day!

Butt Day....

When I picked Buddy up from school yesterday he declared it was Butt Day. He said he learned it in school (so of course it has to be true, right?). So to celebrate Buddy stripped down to the nubbins when we got home to show off his all important butt for most of the day. Of course today Shane had to get in on the action and declared today $(*&#^& (just insert male favorite organ here) Day (not sure how he celebrated since he is in Seattle shipping his car before he leaves tomorrow)! So what did you do on Butt Day? To celebrate our holiday we invited cousins over. Of course when you come over to my house be prepared to be involved in some serious picture taking. Unfortunately, I frequently wonder if we are really related to these cousins. You wouldn't believe the resistive efforts to sticking butts up in the air, seriously! I believe that was my favorite pose when I was a kid-OK still is but I'd never admit that, that or the fact that when you do this pose your suppose to make an obligatory fart sound!

So all in all a super fantastic, Happy late Butt Day, day!

Media Mogul....

We've been busy, Shane is leaving tomorrow and we have been moving, and moving and then moving some more again. Buddy's school is sad that he is leaving, the principal said he was the life of the school, I think I'll agree (OK, I'm totally biased on that one). Buddy made a video one day last week when I was sick and not too motivated...bless you iPhone for all the wonderful features I can do whilst in a reclining position! Anyway, he made his video about gun safety while we were packing up the guns. Let me assure you, Buddy was very serious about this issue and wanted to make sure to "let the kids know". He wanted to go door to door and make sure everyone watched the video, thankfully he was appeased when I told him I'd post it on YouTube. (Of course if you know me, when I say I'll post it, I totally mean Shane). So Buddy has had 1,000 hits on his gun safety video and he is rather pleased, at least he's not making the mad face at me for not going to the neighbors house (I know, I'm a bad mom)

So here is Buddy accessorizing himself with some of my mom's fancy jewelry, perhaps for his next stint on QVC?
All in all a super fantastic, we're going to be famous, day!

Illustrations...

The other day I was sick and stayed in bed for most of the day. When Buddy came home from school he was very excited to show me one of his new Karate moves he learned that day. Then of course being the Buddy that he is, decided he should not only be the athlete, but also the sportscaster, so here is the show...

Look out Bob Costas we've got a double whammy coming your way!!!
All in all a super fantastic, tomorrow is yoga, day!

Dream Killer....

Today Buddy came home with this picture drawn on the back of his schoolwork. On the way out of school he kept telling everyone there was no tooth fairy. He even insisted the school secretary make a copy of his picture and post it at her desk, lest she forget. Whom do you suppose told him such a tale, look closely...

Hmmm, I think I'm seeing a resemblance a little below the shoulders and a bit above the waist...

Yep, I'm back in the running for mother of the year, heck, maybe with the ruckus he says he caused in school with that scandalous picture, maybe I'll even be parent of the year.
All in all a super fantastically dream killing day!

Bright ideas...

The other day when I was picking up Buddy from school he wanted me to drive around until I found a field of flowers. Hmmm, small problem, we live in Utah and it's winter. I would have offered him a field of snow to tromp around in, but truthfully I was afraid he would take me up on that offer (which of course would mean that I would have to tromp around in the snow, and I'm just not that good of a mother)! The rest of the car ride home was filled with talk of all the wonderful things he would love to do in a field of flowers (you know, run of the mill answers, smell, pick, run, stomp, dig!) So in memory of the good old days when there was a field of flowers to just laze about in...

That is a good idea on such a cold, yucky day!
All in all a super fantastic, can't wait to move to Hawaii, day!

As seen on TV....

Buddy got a pillow pet yesterday. I'm not sure how it happened, we were buying groceries, Buddy saw a pillow pet and then he began telling me how they were washable with durable stitching and I just couldn't help myself. Of course when he told me about the stitching he was holding the pillow Vanna White style and running his hand along the durably stitched face and paws. Thank goodness they are so versatile, when I came home Buddy was playing with his like this...

I'm not sure why they didn't advertise this on TV, oh wait, now I see why...

All in all a super fantastic, glad the holidays are over so someone can stop watching commercials before I go bankrupt, day!
