Sacrifices....

I think this island living is getting to the boy. Today while we were playing Lego's, some of the men got banished to planet Pluto where immediately a human sacrifice was laid. To make the whole thing a little more disturbing, the limbs and head were separated from the body ...

I'm not sure if Pluto was happy with the sacrifice, but I believe Madam Pele may be looking down on us with some favor (which will translate into continuing eruptions that stay on the east side)!
So all in all a super fantastic, lovin' the island, day!

KaBoom....

Mom and I went down big hills and big up hills on our bikes and when we got to the gas station, we went to the store which was next to it. Then, when we were done, we bought candy, and then my tire popped when we were at the gas station, because my mom filled the tire too full up, then, ka-pow! It blew up!

Hope you enjoyed reading Buddy's rendition of the events that happened today, thankfully he included the important parts, like the buying candy. Buddy wasn't too upset that I blew up (literally) his tire, but then again it's hard to be upset when you have a new job as a boat head model...

Day #2

So the other day I tried to come up with a a list of things to do for summer vacation. Did you know if you look on-line that people actually have lists of things to do, let me rephrase it, stupid things to do, like you never play with your kids or have any imagination. I needed help, not a list of... draw with chalk, play a board game, read a book, Lamersville. Since Buddy and I do not hail from the land of Lamersville, we made a list that included installing a zip line. We have quite the jungle in our backyard, a jungle that includes a 110 ft straight shot between two very large trees. Buddy and I are quite excited, now to talk Shane into the excitement, seeing how he will be financing and installing our marvelous idea. So in the meantime we decided to put up an obstacle course and have a Nerf Shooting competition (embarrassingly Buddy won both), complete with a side of good old hide and go shoot!

So all in all a super fantastic, anxiously awaiting a zip line, day!

Ready....set...campout?

So tonight I am doing my blog from the comforts of my tent, well my tent on my lanai. I made a list of things to do this summer and it appears that someone is trying to squeeze it all in on the first day! So here I sit in our tent, hoping that a wild turkey doesn't come along and try to peck at us through the night (hey, it could happen they hang out in my driveway all the time, although I don't know if they're good at climbing stairs). We're just enjoying the peace and quiet, pretending we're away from the modern world, while I'm on my laptop and Buddy is on the iPhone, yep we're rustic that way!

Anyway, Buddy's last day of school was yesterday, they had a fun run to commemerate the occasion, or possibly make the kids all have heat stroke, one of those two although I'm not sure which. Here are some pics of my boy. That's right he's the professional runner on the end...

This is right after he ran through the sprinkler (the other kids were avoiding it, Buddy is a thinker, a cool thinker that is!)

Here he is enjoying the limelight of his newfound running fame...

So all in all a super fantastic, first day of summer, day!

NO MORE TEACHER'S DIRTY LOOKS...

Guess whose last day of school is tomorrow, well I guess that was a no-brainer! To prepare for his next to last day, Buddy threw together a fitting ensemble, well, fitting if you're setting sail on the seven seas...

Today I was greeted by his teacher anxious to talk to me about my options for homeschooling....ummm...what? Buddy gave his teacher quite a credible story that next year I'll be keeping him home, poor boy was quite convincing. Obviously he just doesn't quite get it that his personality craves to be surround by lots and lots and lots of giggly boys and girls, not a boring mom that has been noted to make her trains talk "boring" lately. So for now, we are more than excited to begin our Super Fantastic Summer Extravaganza, not that we have any plans! I'm thinking the ocean may possibly be involved? What a concept and slightly unheard of for us!
So all in all a super fantastic, one more day, day!

The Beeder Beater, or is it the Beater Beeder?

So today after school Buddy and I attempted to make cookies for his last day of school on Thursday. Since I have assumed my role as a domestic goddess I have seriously amped up my grilling skills (I'm awesome, just ask me), but my baking skills need some serious help. Maybe I should just blame my ingredients, I mean they were fresh, but really...

(That would be my boy pretending to poop out the butter)
Who raised this kid, next thing you know he'll be using his penis as a gun, oh wait, yep already done that (just 10 minutes ago even). In other news, we took a break from the bike riding due to some serious wind around these parts (my bottom would like to thank mother nature from the bottom of...my bottom), so today we read some fantastic Horrid Henry tales, Buddy giggled and giggled. Who knew that a boy would like a book about stink bombs and a boy accidentally being stuck in a pair of girly pink/sparkly underwear. This is my shout out to Tony Ross the creator of the Horrid Henry series...you are a genius! After our book fest I showed Buddy how my brothers and I fought with our fancy space guns. That would be our fancy space guns that are invisibly implanted in our armpits but when our armpits are raised they make a "ping ping" sound. Yep, my family was fancy with our technology, we were the envy of the neighborhood. I do believe the day was a success, well, other than the cookies!

New Master and Chief...

A few days ago while Buddy and I were on a walk/scooter ride we ran into a gang. That's right a gang of Hawaiians on bikes (OK, the gang members were kindergartners and 1st graders on bicycles riding around in circles). Buddy scootered and scootered (I know, I'm totally making up words, just call me Roald Dahl) to keep up with them until nighttime. In the past, Buddy has had a bit of resistance to learning to ride his bike, compliments of a very bad experience with one of his parents trying to teach him to ride (one hint, wasn't me). After Buddy realized the awesomeness of the independence of his own two wheels, we whipped out his bike! Betcha can't guess who is totally awesome at it (I'm not bragging, I'm just relaying the official statement he provided to the people at the grocery store, park, play date, you get the picture). So in the last 2 days we have ridden around for about 6 hours, including some in the dark with our flashlights on! My pachang-chang is sore and Buddy keeps checking his "balls" to make sure they haven't ruptured, although he did tell me that there may be a leak in one (it's smaller than the other). So here is the newest Bike Master and member of the Hawaiian Elementary Bikers Gang...

So all in all a super fantastic, cheers for incentives, day!

B-listed

So today my budding actor was in the school's Ho'olaule'a (that's Hawaiian for musical) celebration. He's been excited about it for weeks, practicing around the house, making sure he had the proper attire (that would be a blue aloha shirt and a Hilo Hattie issued shell lei)and calling mamaw frequently to talk about the hullabaloo! That is, he was excited until he came home yesterday discouraged by the seating arrangements for his class. By random drawing his class was.... in the very back row. Very unfortunate arrangement indeed for this shining star...

As you can see he was not too happy being hidden by the crowd of "amateur" kindergartners. Oh well, he pepped up when his teacher told me it was tradition to take your kids home after the performance if you wanted to! You don't have to tell us to play hooky twice!!!
So all in all a super fantastic, shining star, day!

Kindred Spirits...

It seems that Buddy has a new kindred spirit, not only does she live just a hop, skip and a jump away, but she has a matching wiggle car (in awesome girly pink)...

Look, she already has perfected the Buddy cheesy face!!!! I see an awesome summer ahead!
So all in all a super fantastic, playing, day!

The classroom...

Last night Buddy puked up, a ton, it was stinky and gross and he complained of a bellyache all night until he fell asleep around 11pm. So this morning when it was time to go to school, he complained of a tummy ache, I thought it was possible but highly unlikely since I believe the cause of the tummy ache was a sugar overload from being offered a cupcake by mom, a never-ending bowl of ice cream from dad and a chocolate milk at bedtime (sugar induced coma anyone?). So today I tortured the boy with a day of reading, reading, more reading and a little bit of watching PBS kids. When Shane got home tonight though I lifted the DO NOTHING CAUSE YOU'RE SICK ban and let him experience the outside classroom. He's been looking at our solar panel on the house for a while, guess who has the coolest dad (whom I also have to give props to for cleaning up the vomit last night-seriously why do kids aim for sinks when the toilet is right there?) that took him out to explore and gave him a little lesson on solar energy...

Now mom, Buddy was worried you would freak out, so he wore his helmet just for you!
So all in all a super fantastic, faking it, day!

Embarrassed...

Ugggh, I have nothing to say for myself. I only allowed Buddy 30 minutes of gaming time today (I know, it's embarrassing that he is allowed any), but afterwards he turned on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and watched several episodes. Hmmm, good thing Buddy is a better parent than I am!
All in all a super fantastic, beautiful day in the neighborhood, day!

Frustration

I debated about posting this bit. Lately, Buddy has started to sing when he's reading.... adorable in my opinion(remember, I'm not biased). Small problem though, he gets camera shy when we want to capture it, so we haven't gotten it on video... That is until today when he let me record it. Unfortunately, he got frustrated after he got a few words wrong, but I figured my mom would love it!(She's a grandma, they dig that stuff you know). So watch if you want, I will warn you it's 5 minutes and he gets frustrated at the end making me feel like I shouldn't have recorded it (which was his wish to begin with), I know, Mother of the Year Award calling my name again!

Sunday Bonus...

You're welcome!

The right to bare arms and the Deceptor....

It seems that no matter what we do (including a huge kayaking trip to a remote location on our island), someone can't seem to escape a certain stance...

Maybe it's just me, but it seems that someone is a little too preoccupied with the video game he and his father play. By the way, it seems we have a Secret Agent in our midst. Sending him on a secret mission was the only way to get him to church without whining (oh, it's just my kid that whines about going to church, awkward)...

Snazzy, worked like a charm, now for the secret mission to keep our room clean!
So all in all a super fantastic, seriously needing to cut back our video playing, day!

Friday the 13th....

Creepy....

All in all a super fantastic, nothing like going for a swim after school, day!

Double duty...

This site wasn't working last night, so I guess we'll have to do two posts today cause Buddy is just too cute (but that's my professional opinion).
So yesterday we whipped out our kayak from under the house and took it for a spin, I won't tell my mom this, but Buddy took a spin in it all by himself a few times. While we were out we saw the Waikoloa Canoe Club (more like almost ran into them when we were launching). The cool thing about them is that it's mostly kids, I think I just might know a kid who thinks that is right up his alley....

(That's my boy taking his grandma Judy on an adventure)
I think some of us can't wait till we're 10 and can officially join the club and get back to our Polynesian roots (oh wait, we're not Polynesian). Oh well, we'll still join and do some races to make my mom's hair turn grayer than what it already is!!!

All in all a super fantastic, lovin' our kayak, day!

Shameless...

Is it shameless that I let Buddy push me in the hammock this morning until he got so tired that when he got in he fell asleep?

How about when Buddy put on a cute face and pleaded with grandma to buy him a stuffed bird (and not even the eating kind)..

In other traveling news, we went on a hike to the Thurston Lava tube...

Buddy shamelessly hitched a ride for most of the 1.5 mile hike, then when we saw people hiking on the Kilauea Iki...

He asked if we could do that 5 hour hike, yeah, my back thought that request was actually shameful!
So afterwards we went to Akaka falls...

(That's grandma Judy and Grandpa Kirk)
They apparently went to actually go see some waterfalls, we shamelessly tagged along to go stand on a stump (we're cool like that)...

So all in all a super fantastic, glad we're home and out of the creepy house that we were staying at, day!

Pairs, and the religious implications....

Didn't you know everything is better in pairs?....

At least that's what Buddy is thinking these days! When he was getting in the car this evening after a fun filled day, he got hit in his special spot. When he got in he said "Isn't it great Heavenly Father and Jesus made me two balls in case I break one?" Sure is Buddy, sure is (and super ouch)!
So in other less religious news we've had a fantastic day hanging out with Grandma Judy and Grandpa Kirk going kayaking, snorkeling, visiting tide pools and seeing some lava (cause we never see that on this island). The place we're staying is right on the ocean and close to some awesome warm ponds, but I think there's something creepy going on here...

Yikes, don't you agree? Anyway, we went kayaking, I think this picture may answer whether Buddy liked it or not...

So all in all, a super fantastic, living the dream, day!
