Mother of the Year.....Again!!!!

Yesterday, Buddy pulled out of the trash for probably the fourth time some artwork he did back in November. He immediately confronted me and asked me why I threw his "beautiful" work away. You know, 7 year olds just don't seem to comprehend OCD. No matter how much I tell him about my compulsion to throw things away, he still gets his feelings hurt. I don't blame him honestly, I mean, it was a picture he's already pulled out a couple of times. I keep throwing it away because it doesn't seem very special to me, but obviously for him to go dumpster diving, it must be special to him. Well, after breaking his heart again, I decided to not listen to Shane and put this up...
(Shane's worried about the hole in the wall, I'm worried about the hole in someone's heart made by a way too tidy mother). As for the artwork, it has been saved and resting in a place of honor....
Apparently Buddy put a lot of blood, sweat and tears in that Thanksgiving artwork, and you do well to not forget it! In other news, last night when we came home from cub scouts Shane taught Buddy how to make a blow dart....
When you have a blow dart you have to have a target....
No really, you do, or you'll have a bunch of holes in your wall (not that we do, why, did the landlord say something?). So all in all a super fantastic, blowing it, day!

Everybody was kung foo fighting....

Don't you just hate when a ninja sneaks in and does your homework for you?
Tricky ninja's! So all in all a super fantastic, sneaky, day!

New Girl in town....

Buddy has a new playmate, compliments of a new pilot moving into town (luckily bringing his family with him). You know, it's too bad that Buddy is so shy and stand offish. I sure hope that they can forge a friendship down the line...
Gee, maybe he'll make a better impression next time? So all in all a super fantastic, rooting/tooting, day!

Apology accepted....

Today I got an email from my dad with an article attached to it that he said reminded him of me. In the article it talks about moms that are really involved with their son's lives and how society, at times, frowns upon it (translation, think mamma's sissy boys) but how research actually proves that children that are raised by very motherly mothers actually do lots better physically and mentally (to that I say... no duh). Then, while at the grocery store I ran into an acquaintance from church that told me I was a really good mom. It's enough to make me have a big fat head about being a super mom ( I really should wear a cape). But then again, no one is seeing the behind the scenes, like how I had to apologize to Buddy for the bazillionth time today for him being an only child. We did well this morning, playing until noon, just me, him and Shane. Then he got bored, really, really bored. I'm sure it would have been more exciting if I didn't have a torn meniscus and I squeal like a little girl every time I move my leg. Needless to say, he got bored of me and our closet full of board games quickly! We called, texted and walked over to everyone we could think of's house. Sadly, it's Saturday and no one could play. So I apologized, and he forgave me like the sweet little thing he is. Besides, it is so easy to be the mom to a little kid that holds my hair back and pats my back while I vomit (sad, but true... I smell a great husband in the making)! Plus, when we were walking to all of his friend's houses on the street to see if they could play, every time I had to stop and cry like a little school girl he patted my leg and gave me sweet words of comfort. I have a very easy job when I have a quality product like this....
to work with! He even poses cheesily on command, talk about a winner! So really, I'm no super mom, I have a super kid (totally not biased with that one). Should I list all his super hero traits? Like super burps, super farts, super stink powers? Still trying to come up with a costume for my super hero, unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding snot covered material that smells like farts (you would think there would be a big market for that). So all in all a super fantastic, forgiven infertility, day!

Embarrassment at it's finest.....

Perhaps my next investment should be a wife beater shirt for Buddy? High quality family bonding movie night at it's finest captured on film, I am so proud! Buddy has already placed his request to stay up all night watching movies(not going to happen as sweet as his request was). All I have to say is, I like that he's still young and naive and innocent, but seriously....how many times can you watch "The Polar Express" without going certifiably insane? No really, tell me, I want to know cause it's my 1,894th time and I think I'm getting to my breaking point. He is so funny, he keeps telling me how great this movie is, clearly we are not watching the movie through the same eyes!!! But I'll take it while I can get it, the mom of one of his classmate's says her kid's favorite movie is "Twilight". Yikes, that's setting the bar pretty high for a first grader! Not sure what that bar is, but pretty sure I do not want to be there! So all in all a super fantastic, not growing up, day!

Quick change artist....

Ballerina by day....
Pirate by night...
In his defense of the first picture he said he was making a heart for the girls (stinkin' flirt)! So all in all a super fantastic, changing it up, day!

Creatively distracted....

When Buddy got home from school, instead of doing his homework straight away like he's suppose to, I caught him red handed (or blue handed as the case may be)...
I guess I won't complain about him and his short attention span, since he still let me do this at the end of the day...
Yep, that's right, my big boy is letting me hold/rock/sing to him like he's a baby. He even agreed to let me do it to him when he's a teenager! I am one lucky girl! So all in all a super fantastic, getting my priorities straight, day!

Not even close....

So this morning, we all had the day off, so I forced my two beach rebelling boys down to the beach....
Well, we never actually made it to the beach, but we could see it from the pool. Besides, the pool was a salt water pool, so it's like the beach minus the sand...I say win-win for sure. When we got home, Buddy and I finished his snack for his special snack day at school tomorrow....
He's so excited he actually helped this time (usually, he just picks the snack and then he checks up on me once in a while to make sure I'm doing it right....told you he's a great supervisor)! Hopefully you can tell that they are sailboats in the middle of a Jell-o sea, but if you can't I guess we'll hope that a bunch of 1st graders have a better imagination? Then, Buddy and I created a marshmallow shooter for the cub scouts to replicate tonight...
After so much love for the snack, I thought he'd think I was awesomely creative. Errrr, yeah, not so much! Although the marshmallows were a hit, the shooter, not so impressive! He even went so far as to look through my cub scout craft book and picked a new craft to do tonight. The craft includes a bunch of hang gliders, maybe he didn't get enough with the bookmark stunt doubles last week? So back to work I go! So Buddy had a short playdate, which gave me some time to perfect this...
Let's just say that the hang gliders were such a hit with Buddy, that during the cub activity whilst all the other boys were making their gliders, my creative genius sat at his seat and cut his straw into a million pieces! I think that says, it was no hit at all. We did end up making the marshmallow shooters as well, making a mountainous mess in the process. Who knew boys liked to shoot things at each other? Oh wait, I totally did! So all in all, a super fantastic, creatively destructive, day!

Ninja sword swallower.....

So all in all a super fantastic, using our Sunday wisely, day!

The appeasers....

Thankfully I have a group of kids around that are a little more than eager to pose for pictures....
Hams, the whole lot of them! Buddy is having a sleepover, hopefully sleeping is on the list of things to do. That is, of course after the obligatory sword fighting (by the way, they are sword fighting like ninjas....I wouldn't want you to be confused). So all in all a super fantastic, sleeping?, day!

Growing up...

Yesterday, we went to a farewell party for one of Shane's co-workers. While we were sitting down to dinner, one of the other guys sitting at our table asked Buddy what he wanted to be when he grew up. He thought for a minute for his answer...
After some internal debating, his answer....ninja! He's definitely got the moves for it. Unfortunately, his new career path already has him moving out of the house, thanks to one of Shane's co-workers that happens to be Japanese. He told Buddy that he needed to move into his house, which according to him, is full of ninjas, because "white people aren't ninjas"! Sheesh, hasn't he seen "Beverly Hills Ninja"? On second thought, maybe he has a point? Buddy was so excited about moving into a house full of ninjas, that he gave his new Sensei a very large and very long lasting hug that made me wonder whether Buddy was going to come home at all with us last night. Today, Buddy has been practicing his moves, he even played a little "mini ninja's" on the computer. Buddy has also been reminding me all morning that ninja's are silent....of course he's singing that they are silent at the top of his lungs, but I guess that's a start! So all in all a super fantastic, moving on out, day!

Supervision....

I think Buddy is going to be a great supervisor some day. I mean just look at his form...
Seriously, just look at him...
That's the edge of his plane he's carrying in the picture. Not sure if I should chalk that up to priorities (afterall, he is holding on to some precious cargo), or if he has forgotten his chivalrous manners? Hmmm, maybe I need to send him (and perhaps his father) to a school that teaches you how to be a gentleman? In other news, his classmates LOVED their Valentines and I think I've reached my yearly hug quota in one day! Buddy was so impressed with himself that he hasn't even looked in his Valentine box yet to see what he got from the other kids (now that is impressive). So all in all a super fantastic, loving, day.

Hanging around....

So what do you do when you have all your classmates in the palm of your hand....
I don't know about you all, but we like to strap them onto some candy airplanes...
Then hang them out to dry....
How else would they know that Buddy wants to be their Valentine?
(FYI-those stunt doubles actually double as bookmarks...of course the Budmeister had to have two...pretty sure he's planning on lots of stunts). In other news, my little Valentine got a special award at school today for being a complex thinker....finally all those fart jokes are paying off in the smarty pants department. So all in all a super fantastic, flying, day!

A....Mazing....

We made some awesome mazes today, afterwards Buddy had a playdate that was so fantastic, that when he came home a shower and multiple qtips were required to get all the boy dirt off of him! When Buddy got dropped off the other boy's dad was apologizing for all the dirt. Seriously, no need to apologize in my book, that means it was a playdate well played!!!!!So all in all a super fantastic, playing, day!

No fun....

Buddy told me he didn't have any fun today, hmmmmmm, poor kid has such a boring life.....
I feel bad for him, don't you? Thank goodness we get to have a redo tomorrow and hopefully do something not so boring! So all in all a super fantastic, fish supply for a year, day!

Friday, February 10, 2012

Oh my....

I was going to post some lovely pictures and tell you about Shane and Buddy going on a man date while I was working last night and them discovering all the joys that are involved with bidets.... Seriously, Shane said Buddy couldn't wait for me to get home so he could tell me that they basically flooded a bathroom from trying out the bidet so much! While I was looking in Shane's phone to upload pictures from last night, I came across this instead.....
Definitely beats the pants (and shoes) off a bidet anytime! So all in all a super fantastic, ummmm, I'm at a loss for words, day!

Apparently....

Apparently Buddy was sick today....
Hmmm, obviously I'm a sucker and a little certain someone fessed up to his feigning illness around lunchtime. The feigning part resulted with someone writing quite the embarrasing apology note to his teacher.... that is after completing 25 pages of school work and a full verbal synopsis of our recently completed "Spiderwick Chronicles". Apparently that same person has a hard time matching clothes...
Oh well, you can't be perfect all the time, maybe our perfection day will be tomorrow? So all in all a super fantastic, (cough, cough), day!

Picture Perfect....

So lately I've started checking out what all the hoopla was regarding the Pinterest website. I've found lots of creative things that I keep thinking, I could do that.....Yep, I can definitely do what they do, I just keep getting slightly different outcomes. Today, Buddy and I created a boat, you should have seen the inspiration, it was a beautifully constructed cardboard box sailboat filled with beautiful children. I got this...
I'm pretty sure I was close to having mutiny, that is until I enlisted a few scallywags in my endeavors on the Fantastic Coal Boat (that's the boat's name, I'm thinking Buddy is thinking everything sounds better with fantastic in front of it...who can blame him?)...
Take that Pinterest! I didn't even need your ideas for the hats, that was all mine....or all Buddy's? Potato, Potato (hopefully you read that in your head with two different pronunciations or that last bit wouldn't make any sense). Now I'm upping the ante with posting my own creative...ummm, creation. That's right, the world's first paper eye holder, for all those times when you're just too tired to carry your eye in your head anymore....
You're welcome world for our creative awesomeness! So all in all a super fantastically, creatively challenged, but thankfully not internet challenged, day!!!!

Asian festival....

Today was the Asian festival down at the Queen's Shops! It started off with Buddy being pulled into a few pictures with a bunch of Asian strangers (nope, not odd at all). Then hanging with Buddy's favorite Asian....
Wait is this post starting to sound a little racially charged, yeah, to me too. So let's restart, we saw the most fantastic drum show...
Seriously, it was so good I would have even paid money for it, but as it turns out, we were pretty lucky today (must have been feeding all that money to the Chinese Lions last week). Of course a festival wouldn't be complete without the obligatory Lion dances (at least in our book, you should check it out, we've got all kinds of fancy rules in there)...
Of course I think Buddy's favorite part (other than the drums, of course), was the fantastic game with a bunch of girls from his class playing....push you under the dragon. Yep, that's right a handful of hooligans pushing each other under the Lions cloth to join the dancers. Someone's idea of fun...
It never hurts to have a bunch of cute girls pushing you, even if they're trying to get you into trouble. So all in all a super fantastic, fantastic, day!.
