If curiosity killed the cat, why is the cat killing my boy?

It seems my boy has developed an allergy to cats, at least an allergy to the cat at our friend's house (it only took a couple times of visiting with Buddy nonstop rubbing his eyes and constant nose running to figure that one out.....what can I say, we're smart)! Seriously, my kid has some bad timing! A year and a half earlier and we would have had a great excuse to hide away from the in-law's psychotic, devilish cat! Sheesh, how selfish can you get? Anyway Buddy went to another party this evening. He may get an award for attending the most party's in a week (although, since it's the same group of kids party hopping, I guess they will have to share an award). I wonder what kind of award you would get for attending the most parties? I'm thinking pie in the face, giant water balloon dump on the head or just a big ole' tummy ache from the ridiculous amounts of candy being ingested (surprisingly, he hasn't developed a tummy ache, but then again I have drugged him up on some Benadryl tonight, so not much complaining going on right now)!!!!!! After he awakens from his drug induced coma, I'm hoping to do something unheard of tomorrow and possibly hit the beach. Maybe we'll even let Shane come with us for good behavior? So all in all a super fantastic, drugged up (in a nice, legal, safe way), day!

Lost at sea....

Is it awkward that I let Buddy invite a friend to the beach so I could let them get "shipwrecked" in the middle of the ocean with only a flimsy raft to keep them afloat?
Errrr, would it be any better if I abandoned them in a kayak?
Would you think better of me if I told you after 4 hours of the boys roughing it being "lost" at sea, I treated them to a shaved ice?
After all, it was the least I could do! Plus, let me just add, that for most of the day it was just the boys roughing it out it the ocean, cause the waves were super choppy and only the experts were allowed to brave the waves. Good thing I happen to know a few expert oarsmen! So all in all a super fantastic, drifting away, day!

The continuation of the sleeping deprivation....

I had to (or got to, as my dad would say), go to a class for work all day long. Buddy got to hang out with his "best friend" and play. Pretty sure Buddy got the good end of the stick, cause I was stuck all day intubating fake babies and putting in umbilical lines in real umbilical cords (OK, that part was pretty cool). When I got home, I was exhausted! Thank goodness for my "shopping spree" from yesterday, so my boy and I could play a game of bananagrams....
I'm just not sure what to do with the pearl necklace and mirror compact we bought too? Anyway, we loved the game, even if I was too tired to tell Buddy he was a rotten banana for spelling some words wrong! Verbal communication with your kids is highly overrated anyway! So here it is, 7 pm and I'm already going to sleep. But I'm a good mom, I even told Buddy to put himself to bed in a timely fashion (how's that for trust). So all in all, totally exhausted, day!

Sleep deprivation....

I'm starting to think that I may not make my best decisions after one hour of sleep. Exhibit A....
This was purchased after Buddy and I left a birthday party and had just devoured some cupcakes! Buddy asked, and for some reason it sounded like a good idea! It's amazing I'm not 300 pounds and in the poor house after my "shopping spree" today! Hmmmmm, at least I did make one good decision today, I made Shane do the shadow puppets today....
Oh wait, that was Buddy's idea, let's just go back to exhibit A and call it a day shall we?
All in all a super fantastic, going to bed, day!!!

Tarzan.....

I think we've been watching too many survival shows, at least my boy can make his own shelter....
Add enough leaves to make it waterproof....
And give himself a black eye by trying to replicate a zip-line!
Seriously, with all the movies that have zip-lines you'd think it'd be easier. Stinkin' Hollywood! In other news, Buddy is going to a doll party tommorrow! Perhaps I'll find something pink and frilly to send him in (believe me, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be going if it weren't for his "best friend" being there....of course his friend has to be there it's his sister)! Anyway, I'm hoping for lots of embarrassing pictures from tommorrow, cause I'm pretty sure we don't have enough of those. So all in all a super fantastic, living in the wild, day!

Saturday Night Fever....well it's Saturday night, but I don't have a fever.....

Today we couldn't think of anything better to do, so we hiked all the way to Keanalele Waterhole just to practice our awesome pointing and hip swing moves....
Pretty sure that boy of mine is going to make me a fortune when he gets older (errr, was that out loud). Anyway, he'll make me that fortune if he doesn't kill himself first. One his friend's came over after going to the waterhole, they were "playing" quietly for a REALLY REALLY REALLY LONG TIME. Of course his friend's mom and I were just chatting it up until time for them to leave, thinking how awesome it was that they were playing so nicely and quietly. I'm thinking we must be amateurs at this mom thing or something, cause she went to the front of the house to gather up her kids, just in time to stop her girl from going down their homemade zip-line. Buddy at least was thinking safety first and had come in the house to put on a shirt and a helmet, not that that would save him from the 20 foot steep drop down our front yard. Errr, am I suppose to watch my kid still? I really thought once they could put on their own clothes and were potty trained they were on their own! I have to give the kids credit though, they even made a fort made out of twine and pine needles to rest in after tiring (or killing, however you want to look at it) themselves out on the zip-line. My boy, pure boy! Pretty sure I wouldn't have it any other way! So all in all a super fantastic, still alive, day!

The ending bash....

Buddy finished first grade today. The comment section on his report card didn't contain anything about his amazing literary, or out of this world mathematical skills, instead his teacher got down to the nitty-gritty and said that he has kept her entertained this year! To that, all I have to say is, when you hang out with this crowd....
You're bound to be entertained. We had water balloons that of course seemed to disappear way too fast....
Thank goodness, someone had their wits about them to pray for more water balloons....
Of course someone else had their wits about them to horde the last few.....
Although perhaps he wasn't thinking that once they caught up to him! Of course no party would be complete without the "manly" men showing off their muscles...
Or a good ole' boy wrestling match....
Although I will say that no party is truly complete until you don on your ski goggles and chase someone wearing more toilet paper than is socially acceptable.....
So all in all a super fantastic, next time I'll forgo the three days of filling water balloons and just show them the climbing tree....
day!

Boo hoo...

I went paddle boarding today with a friend...It was awesome! I just forgot to suck my arm in for the picture, lets just say the camera really adds 10 pounds... of arm fat!
When I left to go this morning, someone may or may not have cried their little eyes out that they didn't get to go. Those tears may or may not have been real (I'm thinking he has a career in soap operas). That same someone may or may not have talked the grandparents into letting him play hooky from school so he could perfect his craft of goof on command...
Pure stinker that one! In other news, our party is tomorrow and hopefully it'll be the bash of all bashes! Buddy has been excited and helping me fill water balloons, or really overfill water balloons so they pop. Hmmm, I think I want to rephrase that helpful phrase into unhelpful. He's also coming up with a list of friends he wants to spend the night afterwards. Of course if I let him, the party would last 48 hours and everyone would sleep over! I think I may need a bigger house! So all in all a super fantastic, guilt crying, day!

Runny.....

Today Buddy had a fun run at school....
Pretty sure they meant funny run....
Yep, they definitely meant funny run! So all in all a super fantastic, 500 water balloons done, 500 more to go for the end of school year bash of all bashes, day!

Hungry and games?

With all the hubbub of the Hunger Games movie being released, I have realized more and more that Buddy's aversion to all things "girly" stem directly from his father. It seems that unless there are cars, science experiments or it involves playing on the computer, my man wants nothing to do with it! Therefore, since my partner in crime (I actually mean Shane, cause taking a 7 year old to see Hunger Games is a bit disturbing) will have nothing to do with that movie, I am making do with not seeing it....but then again, real life is way cooler than a movie any day....
Katniss has nothing on these boys! In other news, the official water balloon filling preparations have begun! 200 down, only 1000 more to go, no big deal! So all in all a super fantastic, thank goodness I fed the hungry kids after their games...
day!

Free Babysitting....

Thank goodness I have a babysitter for when I'm taking a nap before a night shift....
Of course, when I say babysitter, I actually mean arts and crafts to fill his time so that I don't get a little certain someone coming in my room every two minutes asking me what I want to do. All I have to say is that I'm glad he's using his time wisely...
Now do I apologize for the anatomically correct art, or think my boy is a genius? I shoot for genius for sure, otherwise I may have to admit at this point that our house is super hot these days and my boy has been running around in his nubins since the in-laws got here (I'm half tempted to join him)! Told ya we were making a good impression! So all in all a super fantastic, time filling day!

Brrrr.....

We took the in-laws up to Mauna Kea today, it's really enjoyable....
At least until you drive all the way to the top and remember that you're a warm blooded creature....that and oxygen is good....
In other news, Buddy and I planted a garden today....
Thankfully, I believe he has learned some gardening tricks from my side of the family...
Errr, doesn't everyone stick the seed up their nose before planting? Hmmm, strange! Anyway, I was thinking that perhaps we could put Shane to good use and string him out like a scarecrow! At least he'll scare the small children away, maybe not the birds, but the children yes! So all in all a super fantastic, much warmer now, day!

Impressing the in-laws....

Since Shane's mom and stepdad are here, we decided to put our best foot forward and really impress them with our awesomeness. First Buddy wowed them with his Hula at the Ho'olaulea...
Seriously an amazing hula capped off with a bored face, can't get better than that! Then, we took them to the beach to amaze them with our awesome beach going powers...
I mean, seriously, who else is smart enough to bring not one, not two, but 3 spray bottles to the beach, just in case they want to get wet? Hmmmm, I tell you that kid is a genius! Then our impressive showering capabilities (errr, the grandparents weren't there to experience it, but I felt like it would really make a good impression if they could see his brillance at it's best)....
In other news, Shane wanted in on the impressing list and shimmied up our coconut tree yesterday, so he and Buddy could do this....
I'm not sure if Shane actually made the list though, his shimmy up the coconut tree was extremely lackluster since he gave up 2 seconds in and used a ladder instead! All in all a super fantastically impressive day!

Domo arigato....

My son was kidnapped today and forced to ride in a car with a bunch of strange people that played "Japanese" music in their car. Of course the kidnapping was more of a taking him with them to cub scouts, and the strange people happen to be the people we beg to hang out with us on an almost daily basis (it really is daily, but I didn't want to sound stalkeresq), and the song I believe was really a Japanese lesson (but it's all Greek to me). When Buddy got home he sang me his Japanese song and I sang him mine....or at least the only Japanese song I know....Mr. Roboto! He said he didn't like my song at all, I think he must be hard of hearing, cause seriously, who can shun Mr. Roboto? Especially when you have a fancy choreographed robot dance to coincide with your awesome singing! Anyway, when Buddy got home, his friend and her sister were over visiting....not doing much, just chilling, and growing our awesome stache's out...
I know I said I'd stop with the mustache pictures, but there is nothing more irresistable than a baby with a handlebar mustache, wouldn't you agree? That, and I may need a 12 step program soon. Anyway, since it was bedtime, Buddy read them both a bedtime story....
Buddy even let Sydney pick the book...
Obviously, this "manly man" is very happy about the choice! Oh well, he quickly made up for it after they left and he started reading a book filled with burbs, farts and boogers (and that was only the first two pages)! Tomorrow Grandma Judy (Shane's mom), and Grandpa Kirk are coming, which means I'll have more people to sway the vote to my side in the go to the beach vs. sit at home and be a bum debate! Yay! So all in all a super fantastic, domo arigato, day!

Told ya....

When I said mustaches make everything a million times funnier yesterday, I really meant it...
Sorry, I promise to keep my mustaching down to a minimum, or at least blogging about mustaching down to a minimum, cause I just can't help myself! Well, actually Buddy can help, but he usually gives me a full beard and I think beards weigh my face down too much. In other news, Buddy and Shane had some art time together and Buddy embellished Shane's rocket, by adding a working satellite and "space junk" floating around...
After that, Buddy asked me what I wanted to do tomorrow and I replied, "fly to the moon". He balked at that and responded that they don't let kids do that yet....so I guess tomorrow we will be building a spacecraft, a space suit and enlisting the help of our local congresswoman, at least that's what Buddy put on the agenda! So all in all a super fantastic, fly me to the moon, day!
