Nervous?

Wonder what the neighbors think? At least we know what they wear!
This week I've been working a ton, or sick a ton, so I let Buddy play hooky from school. We decided to go to Boondocks for some unlimited fun (with our unlimited passes). I have no idea how Buddy knew about laser tag, maybe it's a thought that just happens to connect to the Y chromosome and no one needs to talk about it, but he wanted to play, and that we did, for ten hours. Yes I smell slightly funky , and yes Buddy fell asleep in the car, but I have to say it was the most fantastic time EVER! By the way, I totally rock at it, strike that, I am freakin' awesome!
All in all a super fantastic day!

Passing (gas) with flying colors....

So after much deliberation, my results are as clear as my colon! Thank goodness I had such a nice doctor that took pictures for my 5 year old boy to see inside. Gee, who know a kid would get such excitement out of those kind of pictures? Maybe I have a future engineer/proctologist on my hands, the world definitely needs more of those, in my opinion the world needs more Buddy's (I know I wouldn't mind a few more).
So all in all a very super fantastic day!

Two peas in a pod, and the shiz in between....

So the last two days we have spent the nights at my parents, shamelessly using my parental connections to help me take care of Buddy while I've been hanging with the porcelain god. Buddy, thank goodness, is in great hands with my dad who I believe is on the same maturity level.

They built a pulley system in the barn and Buddy has been raising and lowering a box for 2 days straight, sad but true (don't judge me I've been stuck on a toilet)! Buddy learned to tie a knot...

And papaw learned to sleep with his eyes open, since whenever they closed someone (surely not Buddy) would hit him so he would wake up!

So in two hours I'm off for a colonoscopy, nothing says good times more than a clean colon with a camera shoved up it!
So all in all a super fantastically poopy day!

Making new friends....

So last night Buddy and I stayed up making him some new friends...

OK, they're not traditional friends, but that didn't stop Buddy from wanting to take them out today to "explore the world". Although he did tell them that the other Lego's had never been outside before and they'd better keep it a secret so the other one's wouldn't be jealous. So here are a few pictures of our exploration...

Amazingly the car, never landed in the canal, although the controller did! Seriously, Buddy is so all boy, at times I have a hard time figuring out what to do, then I remember...

A little dirt and destruction goes a long way! When that fails, we can always share Wallace and Gromit (which somehow have managed to land their way into a place of honor on the picture wall)!

All in all a super fantastic day!

Hey dad...

Someone is missing you, but still acting normal, well, normal for him anyway!
All in all a super fantastic day!
By the way, here is a picture of the mighty bean that was purchased against daddy's wishes. Not that I was keeping it a secret, but I believe Buddy has discovered the joys of telling on his parents...

Buddy wanted to make sure to include a picture on this post so I could make sure the whole world knew I was in trouble. Maybe I'll take up wearing a MB on my chest made out of scarlet letters?

Yep, I'm going straight to HELL...

So this morning I woke Buddy up and asked him if he still wanted to go to the race or school. The answer is so obvious, the race of course, he smiled so big and started kicking his legs super fast on the bed and announced that he was the "fastest runner in the world". So after a 45 minute drive, in the snow, and getting lost several times we arrived at our destination. Then we were told there was a mistake and the race was only for employees of a certain company. So after I walked out quite mad I must say, I wrote a letter, and not a nice one, how could you be nice when you donated some seriously hard earned cash and had a boy crying that he couldn't be in the race because the person in charge of the on-line registration forgot to mention the race was only for a specific company. So yes, it's official, I am going to hell for writing a complaint to a charity that is based on doing good, and for babies none the less, maybe that will send me into a darker abyss?
So to make things better we went to our gym and Buddy and I had a race. Buddy reigned victoriously and is now wondering where his fleet footed trophy is, and I am wondering if he's just practicing his facial expressions for a career in future stand up comedy?

So all in all a super, going to outer darkness for sure, day!

So it begins...

Today Buddy came home with a note... from a girl... she said she loves him...

Nope, it's not from Lily, although she mentions her in the letter. I'm wondering if this is just the beginnings of the romancing of my little man. By the way, the little man has picked up tipping his cap to the ladies while we are on our daily strolls! Seriously, has he been watching black and white classic movies while he was suppose to be in bed? Where do they learn this stuff? In other news, Buddy has a new best friend, his name is Hak, he lives in Cambodia and Buddy made a bracelet for him at school today. We haven't met Hak, but Buddy believes they will be truly besties because of the bracelet (Buddy made one for himself)...

His principal is leaving for Cambodia tomorrow, taking the bracelet and a picture of Buddy with her (OK all the kids who donated to a charity based in Cambodia got to make bracelets and pictures for themselves and another child at the orphanage that she is going to volunteer at, but Buddy sure did sound fantastically special for a minute huh?)
In other altruistic news, Buddy and I are doing a March for Babies with the March of Dimes on Thursday. He's been wanting to race (OK, frequently we race and he usually wins-yes, I am embarrassed to admit that) so what better way to race than to do it in the name of charity and around hundreds of others doing the same thing! We're starting out doing a mile, but if all goes well we're aiming for 5K's later in the season!
So for now, all in all a super fantastic, played all day so someone wouldn't sadly notice dad left for work today, day

Visual disturbances....

So we know that Buddy is colorblind, his dark greens to him look black, but I had no idea that Shane suffered from pattern blindness...

Sheesh, I wonder if there is a cure for that?
All in all a very super fantastic, play outside in the sun kind of day!

Sitting on the dock of the bay...

Needless to say, we love where we live right now, since this boat dock is literally right across the street from us. Buddy has come out of his shell even more so, saying hello to everyone and engaging them in conversation. He's funny, he'll actually start talking about the weather if he's not quite sure what else to say. Today, however, he talked to this one lady and invited her to our house, poor woman couldn't just say no, she said she'd be at the pond tomorrow. Guess who wants to wake up early and go to the pond "straight away" first thing in the morning and wait for her! Gee, thanks lady!
So all in all a super fantastically warm day!

Attack of the Killer Bunnies....

Have you heard of them? They're lethal....

Sure they look cute and cuddly, but wait until you try to capture a picture of one of the elusive ones, they'll turn on you...

In other news, Buddy is still on his Spring Break, which means that he's sleeping in all week, oops wait, that's Shane. Buddy is still getting up at his regular time, and I am working. I've taught him to turn on a movie on for himself (OK, poor mommy skills but I don't want him to escape -you know what I'm talking about), however I must have forgotten to teach him how to get a nutritious breakfast! Shane said he woke up this morning to Buddy watching a movie, eating some ice cream and tortilla chips, yummm! How I wish I had a picture of that! So since I'm missing that picture, I'll just say, THE END (a dirty one at that)!

So all in all a super fantastic, got to come home early from work, day!

Spring Break...

Buddy is currently on spring break, to take full advantage of his vacation, he's decided to travel to exotic places on a shoestring budget. Here he's taking full advantage of his luxurious accommodations...

And of course, always the thinker, he is protecting his eyes from future sun damage while we're on our spring break...

So all in all a super fantastic, oh how I wish I were on a break too, day!

Officially...

I think my boy has grown up...

That's him, he used to be my baby, now he is planning a biking trip... during the night.... by himself....without his training wheels. Don't miss the super cool skid mark behind him from his fancy on the dime stopping maneuvers.
All in all a super fantastic, hanging out with dad day!

The Chili in my eye...

I have a very interesting job, I often see people at their best and their worst. In 12 hours I can be a part of extreme joy, or utter devastation, sometimes repeated several times a day. It's hard work, mentally and physically. Today we went to lunch with a family that I took care of over a year ago. It was amazing, the strength, grace and good humor of this woman is so humbling to me, she is truly the essence of super fantastic (and makes me feel good to be a nurse). We went to the Spaghetti Factory (p.s. did you know there is a trolley train there) and Buddy was in train heaven!

After the luncheon (sounds formal doesn't it), we went to a birthday party for one of the sons of a friend of mine at work. Excuse me if I sound not so culturally brilliant here, but holy crap, not sure if it's a Mexican thing (Blanca assured me it was), but there was candy, candy, candy. Wow! There was candy on the cake, candy with the food and of course there was candy in the pinata! If you don't know, I am quite the candy keeper (meaning I keep it then throw it away when someone isn't looking), I don't like it and so I don't buy it, but Buddy loves to collect it. The first piece he had was a chili centered mango hard candy. Seriously! He came running over to me crying/spitting out this candy-of course spitting some into my eye on the way (ouchy I must say), sweet little Blanca (my friend) was saying " oh sorry Buddy, I forgot you wouldn't be used to this hot stuff". Really chili in candy, for kids, holy hots!

(We're saving it for dad)
Buddy had a great time, plus he met a girl (in the wise words of Buddy, duh), her name is Eliza and he followed her everywhere to be her protector. He even showed her his muscles to prove it and she was impressed I'm proud to say!
So all in all a super fantastic day!

Happenings...

So I guess this is what happens when you take your 5 year old boy shopping at Anthropologie....

(It's actually a really cool hour glass, he's been timing everything, but of course he was drawn to it like a magnet in the very feminine store)
This is what happens when you don't pay attention to whose coat your putting on...

And I guess this is what happens when your teenage brother is hanging out at the house...

(If you can't tell they're playing computer games, which has been quite the theme in our house today, until I took Buddy out on his Buddy and mommy date, and yes that date did include me shopping, but he has to learn to endure, I'm just helping out his future wife!)
All in all a super fantastic, happening kind of day!

Kites...

So is it just me, or was it a cruel trick my dad played, making us run forever to get/keep a kite off the ground. Who knew that with a little wind you don't actually have to do any work? (OK, the aforementioned statement doesn't make me sound like the biggest brainiac, but seriously, ask any of my siblings, flying a kite was next to torture, great exercise, but torture). In retrospect, maybe my parents were on to something?
All in all a super fantastic, hanging out with the cousins, kind of day!

On the third day of Easter...

We're still hiding eggs at our house, thank goodness we haven't had one go missing(yet) although I wander around in rooms for what seems like hours trying to find the egg that I hid a little too well for Buddy. Unfortunately Buddy feels that Easter hasn't happened yet, I guess the event wasn't all it was cracked up to be...

So when Buddy officially decides it's Easter, I'll let you all know so you can celebrate in style!
All in all a super fantastic day!

The celery in the middle....

Today while making a family sandwich, you know mom and dad are the bread and the kids are the meats or cheese or some other fancy condiment Buddy announced he'd be the celery in the middle. Hmmm, must be that private schooling paying off (at least for the posh sounding sandwich)!

So after we had our fancy sandwich, we of course had to find a way to burn off those extra calories...

OK, maybe the private schooling isn't paying off after all! (FYI-my mom was totally mortified that we did that today)
So all in all a super fantastic, celery in the middle day!

Sucker....

Note to all of my future children:
I am a huge sucker for children that want to stay up past their bedtime to read books...

I am also a huge sucker for funny faces...

So if you want to live the good life, you will learn at an early age to combine the two, and you can pretty much get as many loves, songs and re-tuck-in's as you want well past your bedtime!

Shane says I'm a pushover, hmmm? I'll have to think about that while I'm tucking someone in like a Bed Bug, again!
All in all a super fantastic day!

Girls love pink.....

So today Buddy came out of the bathroom holding his penis and complaining that he had a "thorn or splinter in it". If you have boys, you understand that that statement could totally be true, somehow having an extra appendage takes on a whole different meaning with the things they attempt to do with it! So the mommy/nurse (one in the same I think) in me takes over to see if there truly is something in his boy parts-while I'm pulling back the foreskin he says, "see, it's pink in there, girls love pink". Aside from the internal giggles that I'm trying to control, images of my overtly flirty boy showing his "pink parts" to all the girls at school fill my head!
In less disturbing news Buddy won an Easter contest at our apartment complex for guessing how many jelly beans in a jar! He won one of those fantastically huge baskets that I always dreamed of owning when I was a kid!

Seriously, could he be more of a goofball?

I wonder where he gets it from?

So all in all a super fantastic (uh oh, someone has the butt pee)day!
