Bananas....

We've been so busy lately, I haven't been able to blog, we were definitely too busy making cardboard Spartan costumes. The whole sixth grade had to wear a costume representing a culture that they learned about this year in social studies. Those not wearing costumes had to be a slave for the day and serve and clean up after those in costume. Those wearing the best costumes were given the title of King and Queen of the Fair and allowed to eat their lunches with plates, cups and silverware. May I present King Buddy.....
Once again, thank goodness for Pinterest! The day after his Culturally Costume Fair was Buddy's last day of school, so as soon as school was over we hopped on a plane, just to arrive in SLC, UT 18 short hours later, just so we could take this fantastic picture! Sheesh! What we'll do just for an awkwardly shot picture cutting my dad's head off! He looks just like us, but with wrinkles, so we're good, you can just imagine Buddy's goofy face with wrinkles and the picture works out alright afterall.
After we rested up a bit, Buddy went with one of his cousins to the racetrack....
He must've had a good time, since he's been asking to go back EVERY SINGLE DAY!
He's asked so much that I finally had to make a wish for him to stop asking.....it finally came true.....
Yesterday, we took some of his cousins whitewater rafting.....
The cousins think Buddy is a little weird!
Since I couldn't bring my cellphone onto the raft, the kids were kind enough to do a recreation of their roles down the rapids.....

I'd say the pictures are an accurate recreation!!!! After the rapids, we went somewhere Buddy has been wanting to go for a while.....
This morning we had high aspirations to reach the top of Mount Olympus
Basically, we just wanted to reach the top so we could don on our toga gear and do this....
Ummmm......maybe it's because they have a different set of gods on Hawaii (which we are used to) than the Grecian Mount Olympus gods,  but we were unable to conquer it today, so we took these pictures instead.....

We'll work on our lung expansion and water bottle carrying capacity for next year! Good news though....when we got closer to the top Buddy's nose and throat started getting rid of the crud that he's been carrying around making him cough for the last few weeks! Wait, did I say this was good news....
Yep, that would be my shirt that Buddy blew his nose on after he'd completely filled his own....Actually it is good news, because as much as seeing snot doesn't bother me, it makes my sister want to vomit!!! Hahahaha! Do you ever grow out of loving it when you accidentally make your sister sick to her stomach??? I sure hope not! So all in all a super fantastic, maybe next year after our lung transplants, day!

Good news.....

Buddy and I are hiking the Narrows in a few short weeks, which means we've been doing this for the last few weeks....
Yep, that's my boy hiking with a weighted backpack. I'm sure the 35 pound weights that he's packed will come in super handy in the Narrows....you never know when you'll get the urge to do some power moves!!!!! In other news, remember that Hawaiian Voyager Canoe that Buddy didn't realize was due until the night before so he didn't quite finish it at standard level? Well, a few days ago he was the School Fair to show it up.....Guess who's canoe was front and center....
Yep, it was that bad in person too......Whoops, on a brighter note though, one of his teachers came to find me to tell me about how all the teachers talk about Buddy. Apparently he thanks ALL of his teachers after EVERY class, EVERY day! According to his teachers he's a bright mark in their day.  I may have gotten something in my eye while she was talking to me. In other, other news, today was Buddy's last wrestling tournament....

He still loves it, and hopefully he'll be doing it again next year. In other, equally awesome news, Buddy came home from school saying that he learned how to make banana lumpia at school and insisted I stop at the store so he could replicate the creation. I would never encourage such horrid pursuits at my house....

So of course I stopped at the store and stuffed myself silly! It was delicious! Lastly, since we were in Hilo today, we had to jump of the pier....
That is, Buddy had to jump off the pier one time and then quickly decided it was too cold to replicate the jumping again! I attempted a toe dip....he was right! So all in all a super fantastic, Buddy is a good boy, even if he only wants to jump in the cold ocean once...a day!

Weirdo.....

There may be something wrong with my kid.....

Or really, really right!!! I go with right!!! Also, he shoved 6 more pens in that pocket and THEN declared he might have too many pens! What a weirdo! So all in all a super fantastic, love my weirdo, day!

Change of plans....

Remember how last week Buddy had us trek down into Waipi'o to get some driftwood for a science project? Well, he worked on it over last weekend...

Then, he  said he would finish it during the week......I think every mother in the universe knows how this is going to go down! Turns out a project that he thinks is due Friday, ends up being due Wed....which he figures out on Tuesday night......errr.....it was going to be an awesome voyager canoe.....
Now it's half of an awesome voyager canoe. Oh well, at least he did 100% of the work himself.....even if I will be cringing when I have to see it next week at the school wide project display. In other news, Buddy's school had it's May Day performance, he likes me (or hates me, I haven't decided) so much that he invited me to come see it twice (they had a dress rehearsal this morning). I was greatly impressed with the kids, they did awesome! You know what I did awesome???? Taking an action shot of Buddy doing the Haka....
Errr....once again, huge parenting fail. At least I got to redeem myself with the second performance...

Yeah....maybe not so much, especially since Buddy asked if I videotaped it for him! Whoops, and he was super excited about performing this too....he even invited his BFF to come and be tortured entertained. My parenting skills must be at an all time low this week! So all in all a super fantastic, just not getting it quite right, day!

Awkward.....

We've been trying to hit our awkward quota for the week....

Awkwardness achieved!!! So all in all a super fantastic, go awkward or go home, day!

Newsworthy.....

A few important things happened this week.  Buddy has decided that his nose has better things to do than to just be a resting spot for his glasses and has been test driving contacts this week. I'm not sure what the other things his nose will be doing now that it's free, but it's free and open for business.
Also this week, Buddy met Hank Smith. Buddy has not laughed so much at church.....EVER(although, it is an LDS church, so loud and extreme laughter is probably frowned upon). He was so enthralled,  that after the fireside he stood in line to shake his hand and take a very, very, very blurry picture. Buddy requested the picture and I still haven't had the heart to tell show him the one and only picture I took....I have officially failed as a mother. On the upside though, one of the ladies in our ward gave us some Hank Smith CD's.....and the giggling has continued! I informed Buddy that this guy gets paid to give talks and make people laugh. Buddy is now seriously considering a career as a professional public speaker!
So all in all a super fantastic, thank goodness Buddy knows how to speak so he can be a professional speaker, day!
