Let me take a selfie....

Someone has been hitting puberty around here hardcore. In honor of that, the aforementioned "someone" has been practicing all the necessary survival skills needed for those dreaded teenage years. First and foremost, the selfie....
He's still working on his duckface to really get it right. Thankfully, he hasn't hit full blown puberty yet, because he still did this on his own yesterday when we were leaving the pool.

And he still holds my hand while we walk to school....although today he was pretending he was a T-Rex with stumpy hands for me to hold onto, but I'll take it!
So all in all a super fantastic, trying to not grow up too fast, day!

Thankfully thankful for thanking with thanks!!!

Somehow I've missed a whole week of blogging....amazing what happens when you get distracted by silly things,  like taking care of your kid! It just so happens I've been taking real good care of my kid by letting him put up ALL of the Christmas decorations by himself...
Soldering  the train tracks to go around our Christmas Tree all by himself...
I did feel bad about this one, but he looked like he knew what he was doing, so I let him have at it....If it makes anyone feel better that I let my kid solder a project by himself for 2 hours, I did ask him if he was okay every few minutes......well, every 30 minutes. Well, I definitely asked him if he was okay every hour,  I'm a good mom like that! This past week Buddy has also been in charge of entertaining the troops...
And entertaining the older, more distinguished troops...
Of course I'm talking about the older ladies that were around me that somehow got cropped out of my photos.....errrrrm.... In other news, the Native Americans saved Thanksgiving....again! My friend (who happens to be Navajo) invited us over to Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. Thank goodness, because THIS IS ALL I MADE for the occassion....
One small, lonely and overcooked duck! In exchange, she will be issuing me a blanket of smallpox of my very own....I'm really hoping she was kidding, but her food was delicious, so I think it'll be worth it in the end!!! In other, other news, the boys and I were just horsing around today...

What can I say?  Some of us are just better horses than others! So all in all a super fantastic, taking real good care of my kid(s), day!

First time for everything....

Buddy took off for his first overnight camp out without his mommy.......
He's taking it so hard that he decided he should sit on the fence and wait 45 minutes until his ride showed up while strumming a few tunes. I'll just pretend that he at least thought about me once since he's been gone (although I'm guaranteeing that if he did have any thoughts of me they would revolve around me putting up his tent, washing his dishes, or unrolling his sleeping bag for him)!!!! Tomorrow Shane is going to work and my house will be boy free.....I guess I'll have to pull out the sappy chick flicks and fingernail polish and girly it up!!! So all in all a super fantastic, first night away, day!

Helpful....

I'm in charge of an Arrow of Light Ceremony tomorrow for a boy that used to be in my pack...when I actually had a pack. I started packing everything I needed for the skit tomorrow, which of course included some arrows....since it's an Arrow of Light, duh...
The boys of course, were helping me unpack! They're good that way! So all in all a super fantastic, being helpful, day!

Apparently....

Apparently when your gas tank is really low and you park on a hill, your car likes to pretend that it's really empty....
Apparently, it's also true that there has been a bunny sighting in the house....well, more specifically my bed. Thank goodness this bunny avoided extermination (from my bed) by just being darn cuddly and cute!
So there you have it! Apparently, it's a super fantastic day!

Occupied....

I had a work meeting after working ALL NIGHT LONG last night. To say that my bed was screaming my name when I got home after my 18 hour ordeal (not to mention that I had been awake for 36 hours at this point) is a straight up lie...my car  was screaming my name! Anyway, I somehow made it to my house to be greeted by a Buddy telling me he was bored and that we should pick up Tyler and go to the Hilton and swim in their pool......Apparently Buddy doesn't value the lives of those he loves if he thought me driving him (or anyone else) anywhere at this point was a good idea!!! Thankfully the boys occupied themselves while I took a power nap...

Glad they know how to occupy themselves, that comes in handy! So all in all a super fantastic, occupied, day!

Slightly worried....

Since we order so many things online to our little rock in the big Pacific, we get lots of catalogs. I gave one to Buddy the other day to start looking for things he might want for Christmas ....because Santa can take up to 2 months to get here via the delivery routes! Anyway, Buddy handed me his completed catalog this morning.....

If you can't read what it is, let me help you out....IT'S A LIE DETECTOR KIT!!!!! Well, considering that we live in a house with 2 adults and a Buddy, I was just wondering who he thought he was going to catch lying. Turns out, he just wants to start practicing on being able to to cheat a lie detector test!!!!  Errrrrmmmm, pardon me, I have some mothering to do! So all in all a super fantastic, this kid needs a mom badly, day!

Obsessed?

Buddy has become a little obsessed these days....Since his BFF spent the night last night, they decided the first thing to do this morning should be to go out shooting. Well, that sounds awesome...until you take into account that we have to wear long clothing and boots to go rambling through the hillside brush, and a minor little detail of the fact that we live in a very hot area of Hawaii where it hits around a million degrees ten minutes after the sun comes up (I'm exaggerating by a half million degrees). Anyway, I complied with their sweet request. Three minutes into our shooting festivities and we were all done!!! So we had to move onto our next obsession...the Hilton Pool where we have a membership, compliments of a very awesome birthday present from Shane. To say these boys are excited is a bit of an understatement! I mean where else do you get free head rubs?
Free palm sized boogers...
And can paddle boat to your heart's (or legs, I haven't decided) content...
It was so awesome, I even joined in on the fun....

I think my pick was better than the boogers! So all in all a super fantastic, Buddy is already asking to go tomorrow, day!

Parenting win....

Since tomorrow is Veteran's Day and Buddy has the day off of school, Buddy got to have his BFF (Tyler) come over right after school. I took the boys to the pool where they played with guns (water, of course) for 5 hours and only after they became pruney frozen old men, did I bring them home for a  sleepover. Just when I worry about their dysfunctional violent upbringing, I catch them watching this...
Sorry, I was trying to be stealth because they're embarrassed to have been caught-but that's 3 episodes of Care Bears that they have watched since being handed the remote to the TV.  All is right in the world again! So all in all a super fantastic, getting a healthy balance, day!

Growing up...

Buddy got a text today from his BFF to come join him on a play date...

A play date shooting with their matching guns!!!! What happened to the good ole' days when they were content just digging huge pits under my house...
So all in all a super fantastic, growing up, but still cute as can be, day!

Quality time...

Yesterday I deleted the Facebook app off of my Iphone....again. This time it's for keeps (I really hope) because I have better things to do than to get sucked into that time waste. Like playing hide and seek with my favorite boy....
And cuddling  on cliffs...
Because we're cool like that...and he's totally worth it! So all in all a super fantastic, best thing ever, day!

Time...

Buddy had to stay home from school this whole week to prevent a Elementary wide outbreak of oral herpes...
That's right...I hope the whole school knows the sacrifice he placed in order to keep them safe from the dreaded "cold sores".  Thankfully, we used our time wisely and watched TV (at least in Buddy's estimation that was a wise choice), we also talked about his future where he assured me that he would live in my basement FOREVER!!!!!! Not sure what emotion I'm suppose to have with that one, fear or joy....right now I'm going with pure joy. In other news, since Buddy is entering puberty these days, we've also started using our time wisely by instituting a morning sniff test...
Somehow, I think our time would be more wisely spent just making him take a shower first thing in the morning...then in the afternoon, then  after dinner....then again at bedtime....but that's just me! In other more fantastic news, today was my birthday. Somehow Buddy got it in his head that I'm really wrinkly and my age should be 3 years older than what it is based on his self made wrinkle test. At least Shane made up for it by taking us to the pool for the day. Water makes everything better....including my wrinkles...at least until I get out of the water again!
Darn pruny skin! So all in all a super fantastic, at least I don't have a big head about my looks, day!

Hungry....

This is what happens when you're baby hungry and your only baby is sick.....
Oh yeah, I've still got it. So  all in all a super fantastic,  big baby, day!!!
