Sharing....

When Shane moved to Hawaii, I had a laundry list of things to purchase, to bring over to the island when we joined him. First on my list was a kayak.....I LOVE KAYAKING....Thank goodness that purchase was made and I we've been using it ever since we arrived......Let me correct that statement, Buddy has been using it ever since we got here! See that blip out in the middle of the ocean......
You guessed it, my boy once again commandeering my kayak. He's quite the expert, he took Shane and I both out around the buoy marking the entrance to the bay, of course he paddled the whole time, because sharing is just unheard of when it comes to kayaks!!!!
Well, he did let me hold the paddles for a picture....
I guess I should be grateful for something? So all in all a super fantastic, did you know that the Summer Olympics has kayaking......so maybe I have a future gold medalist along with future president/comedian (kinda the same thing anyway, right?), day!

Where is my manual?

Here's my sweet boy who starts second grade tomorrow. At dinner I filled him in on all my fantastic tales of second grade.....turns out I lied a lot and pooped my pants (thank goodness the Budster and I are such kindred spirits). In other news, we have been debating A LOT about home schooling our little ragamuffin, perhaps tomorrow will be his last day too? Hmmmmm, then my tales of pooing my pants in second grade may have been in vain....nah, who am I kidding? Pooing your pants and telling about it always makes a fantastic tale! So all in all a super fantastic, eternally debating, day!

Babysitting 101....

Buddy has a new weapon in his babysitting arsenal....it's called the robot........I think it works phenomenally well.....

Errrr, well, maybe not as well as giving the babies back to the mothers, but I think he's onto something!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, practicing our big brother dance skills, day!

Geckos can't fly.....

Since Kevin has been here, the boys have been doing a lot of (this is a direct quote)"boy things". Which means, I've been bored out of my mind! But that's OK, I have aunt Martha and a cranky uterus keeping me company these last few days! First the boys played with geckos.....

Apparently geckos can't fly, but in other news, they are extremely docile after nearly drowning in your "hot tub" while placed on the aforementioned airplane (see above pic).....Then the boys did some serious recycling....
Obviously this "boy" activity wasn't all it was cracked up to be! Thankfully, computer time is all that it's cracked up to be....
Well, except in my mind, but I keep being reminded I'm not a boy so I just don't understand!
Thank goodness laughter has no gender bias! So all in all a super fantastic, boys ruling?, day!

The filler.....

Today Buddy got to play replacement big brother to his "best friend's" little sister......

Buddy loved every second of it, he even attempted to carry her up the stairs to our house when we got back from swimming (attempted is the key word here)! I won't mention the times he offered to help her go to the bathroom, but that's what big brothers are for.....right???? So all in all a super fantastic, brotherly love, day!

Watering hole....

Yesterday Buddy and I went into Waipio Valley for girls camp. Buddy whined at the thought of having to hang out with a bunch of "teenage girls".....Seriously, where does the kid get this stuff? Anyway, he quickly changed his mind as soon as we started the treacherous drive down into the valley. Honestly, what kid doesn't love a scary, literally cliff-hanging 15 minute drive? My white knuckles thoroughly enjoyed the ride too. Anyway, the property that we stayed on had rope swings, rivers that we actually drove our car through, then went night prawning in, wild horses, plenty of room to ride the "dirt bike" (Buddy's newest camping accessory), and my personal favorite.......not one, but TWO flushing toilets (you can tell where my priorities lie). Since we left to go to the campsite Monday morning after I had only napped 2 hours after a night shift, I was clearly not thinking clearly and I forgot my camera....so the only picture I have is of  us about to cross one of the rivers to go back home....
Dang me and my memory, I really wanted to rub it in with some awesome pictures, cause I'm mature that way! Anyway, we had to leave this morning and go pick up Kevin at the airport. Kevin was hungry when we picked him up, so we drove him to a local taco shop so he could eat like a local? Hmmmm, anyway, Buddy was really, really thirsty, so I found him a local watering hole....

Thank goodness he didn't get his pants wet....

Errrrrr, what was I saying? So all in all a super fantastic, well hydrated, day!

Awesome.....

I stole some photos off of Shane's phone from the camping trip yesterday, I believe my little man just may have it made....

Seriously, I've always wanted to throw a tomahawk......of course when I'm throwing it I'm imagining I'm all kinds of awesome and coordinated so I look really cool doing it. Perhaps even in some awesome superhero garb?  Hmmmm, maybe some things are best left in the imagination! So all in all a super fantastic, super tired because someone was checking every 10 minutes to see if I was awake yet, day!

Now for some breaking news, while I was writing the blog today, my little evil genius came up with a new game.....

Buddy wants to call it the "wheel of siracha", I would like to call it the "wheel of pain"! Thank goodness for dads....

They're always good for a few laughs....
Mom's are for nurturing and dad's are for torturing, isn't that how the saying goes?

Uniforms.....

The family went on a mini-trek ward camp out yesterday and today. I'm pretty sure Buddy didn't get the memo of the appropriate pioneer wear to wear for accurate representation.....
May I introduce exhibit A...
Then my favorite, exhibit B....
(Buddy got to be the leader and carry the flag for us....talk about awesome!)

Too bad I have to work tonight, because I'm curious which uniform he would whip out for exhibit C!  So all in all a super fantastic, dressing for the occasion, day!

Workin' it.....

It appears that Buddy's trying to advertise that he lives in the coolest neighborhood in the universe....I'm thinking I may have to agree! Tomorrow we're headed off to a ranch to go camping and we're taking our guns....of course their air soft guns, but we sounded pretty rough and tough before you knew that though, right? So all in all a super fantastic, playing, day!

Tsunami.....

There are a few things you should know about tsunamis (at least our local one)....First, it's always better to have a friend to suffer through with.....

Second, be prepared for a rough ride....

Because if you're not, it may knock your pants off....
You've been warned! So all in all a super fantastic, knocking our pants off, day!

Bachelor Pad.....

Buddy babysat himself for 2 hours this morning during a time gap of me coming home from a night shift and Shane going to his day job (I'm not telling what his night job is, but it's pretty awesome). As a family, we decided we'd forgo waking up a babysitter to take the boy to and instead let him sleep in(which he does very well). It was a good plan, until about 10pm on my night shift and I started to do the mama stressing.....what if he wakes up scared, what if there was an earthquake, what if the house magically imploded? I was quite stressed and the kind nurses that I was working with let me give my change of shift report first so I could skedaddle home fast.....if you work in the Medical field then you know that as soon as you plan something the flood gates open! Grrrrr, Shane assured me when he left Buddy was sleeping and was doing just fine, not that the sentiment helped me on my 30  minute drive home. When I got home Buddy was cuddled up on my bed sleeping soundly.....then he continued sleeping soundly until 10am, at which point he woke up and expressed his disappointment that I was there and ruined all his "bachelor" fun! Sheesh, talk about a  disappointing greeting. To think I stressed the whole way home that he was going to be crying and afraid. At one point he asked me if I wanted to go run some errands so he could have the house to himself again! Hmmmph, guess I know my place now that Buddy is all grown up....

Well, maybe not too grown up! So all in all, surviving the house implosion, day!
