Metal Mouth....

You know, you just plain look silly when you're standing all alone with sand on your head....
Of course when there are two of you.....
That's a whole other story!!!!! In other news, Buddy got his braces today....
He stared at himself for a good 5 minutes while the orthodontist was talking to me, giving himself the goofiest of grins! Nothing like a little bling to make you look goofier!!!!! He is quite proud, and in pain, but mostly proud. Also today was the Blue and Gold Banquet. The boys had a blast, but Shane was sure to tell me that I need to be louder......errrr, pretty certain my voice isn't going to be deepening any time soon (well, I think I'm going through menopause, so maybe it is). Also at some point some of the kids got confused and didn't go to all the game stations and thought they had to stay at the same one......which actually has me close to tears because the Budster was one of those kids and he never got to do the plunger crawl with me. I was wondering why he kept at one of the games, turns out he thought he had to stay at the one he initially got placed in....turns out I'm really bad at giving directions! Anyway, here are the games: we had (my favorite) plunger crawl....
There was spitball bell ringing....

And obstacle course racing, complete with a plunger bow at the end...

The kids had to carry as many boxes as possible around the obstacle course..
Thankfully that one is all over now because I've been saving boxes at my house for 2 months now, we are quite happy to be able to actually walk into the laundry room again!!!!! The boys did some skits.....
Which was quite the crowd pleaser...
And one of the mom's made the most bomb-diggity decorations ever!!!!!!!

Can you say holy cow patties that lady is GIFTED WITH AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!  So now we're home and I am exhausted and still slightly sad that some of the kids didn't know they were suppose to cycle between stations....and that I didn't get any pictures of Buddy.....or that I didn't get to race Buddy in the plunger crawl! Oh well, next time, so all in all a super fantastic, letting it be, day!

Girls night out.....

I went to a baby shower tonight to hang out with the girls, apparently Buddy didn't need to go to a shower to hang out with a bunch of girls....
Hmmmm, maybe next time I'll wise up and stay home! FYI-Buddy wants to make sure everyone knows that he didn't really like the girls night....a little too "girlie" for him (although they were playing chutes and ladders with a Diego board, and you can't get more manly than that)!!!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, 2 days till braces, day!

Top of the world....

Buddy has been BEGGING for a very long time for us to take him up to the snow on Mauna Kea because he "misses it  [the snow] soooo much".  Today was his day....

Hopefully that meets our quota for the next 3 years! So all in all a super fantastic, making ice pops out of ice, day!

Helping hands.....

Is it awkward that we've been playing non-stop with the plungers intended for the Blue and Gold banquet?.....

Maybe I should just pretend that the boys are just in charge of quality control for the games we're going to be playing? Errrr, I'll go with that, otherwise I'd just feel weird about it all. In other news, Buddy finally met his match....
So all in all a super fantastic, helping hands, day!

PhD?

The other day, Buddy had a field trip and I was lucky enough for the teacher to ask if I could be a chaperone ( I think me stalking Buddy's classroom all the time is starting to really pay off). Anyway, I was trying to get Buddy to hurry to school that day because the bus was going to leave for Hilo at 8:10 and my boy was just standing in front of the bathroom mirror....
When I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was just getting some practice in on wiggling one ear at a time.....I guess that takes precedence over a field trip? Anyway, we went to the Imiloa Astronomy Center....actually we went on a very long bus ride and happened to make a pit stop at the Astronomy Center....

When I was looking at the picture above I was thinking I needed to somehow make a note so you knew which one was Buddy.....but I think he's pretty easy to pick him out! I have to admit, the educators at the Center were awesome! They were super excited to teach and the kids gobbled it up! At one point one of the astronomers (yes, the educators were astronomers, which I'll say is pretty darn cool)  asked the kids what an exoplanet is, Buddy raised his hand and gave quite a lengthy response . After Buddy was done answering the question, I told his teacher I didn't even know what that was.....that's when his teacher said, "you know I don't know how he does it, he can go from the goofiest kid on the planet, to having a PhD the next second".  In other news, today we got our shipment of plungers from the mainland today (translation for that is, one of the other mom's in Cub Scouts had family come to visit and they brought us 10 plungers from the dollar store for our Blue and Gold banquet next week)....

I've never been so excited about plungers in my life.....Buddy is excited too...if you couldn't tell. Although, after he played with them for a while he wanted to "test" them in the toilet. Call me silly, but that's the last thing I ever want to do with a plunger (now I'm shuddering with vividly disgusting memories)....Blech! So  all in all a super fantastic, preparing for our doctorate....possibly in plunger utilization, day!

Big boy....

When Buddy got home from school, I let him watch a show on Netflix for a break before starting his homework. He picked a show called "Alaska's Mythical Monsters". He was very intrigued by the start of the show which began with multiple alleged citings of Sasquatch.....He was also very scared......which led to him come to stop  me from cleaning the house so I could sit next to him and suffer along right beside of him through the program...
Is it totally wrong that I hope part of him never grows up so he'll always want me to keep him safe? In other news, Buddy is a fantastic babysitter!
Just ask him! So all in all a super fantastic, growing up, but hopefully not too fast, day!

Assimilation....

Buddy turned one of his robot toys into a spy machine today.....
He had my phone connected to Shane's phone via Facetime so they could spy from another room. Should I mention here that the robot walked in on me in the shower and someone giggled their head off (thankfully, for my self esteem, not Shane)! So all in all a super fantastic, crafty, day!

Awesome.....

Some awesome things have been going on today.....Exhibit A.....
Although, I'm not sure anyone other than me will think it's awesome that I'm ALMOST done with decorations for our Blue and Gold banquet.....I'll just live on an awesome high for a few more hours, because I know I still have games to coordinate.
Then, Exhibit B.....
The Primary hosted a temple family day, entertaining the kids while the parents got to go in . For part of the entertainment, the kids got to go on an outdoor tour. I'll just speak for the little heathen Buddy, touching the cornerstone wasn't all he thought it should be...

Although, I'll admit, I'm not sure what he thought it should be? Perhaps I should have sung like a choir of angels when he touched it for a full effect.....although with my voice, the opposite effect would have happened! The good news is that the kids got to make temples out of marshmallows. The other good news (if you're Buddy anyway), the Primary leaders are suckers when it comes to the Budster! Buddy played the pathetic kid part, complained he couldn't eat ANY  of the provided breakfast or lunch because of difficulty chewing due to the spacers in his back teeth (prepping him for his braces next week), and ate more marshmallows than a human should probably consume in a 24 hour period. Of course, the good mother that I am, I am making a  dinner I of purred burritos.....YUMMMMM! I'm a good mom, I know! HA! In other, other good news,
The boys are playing like boys, and Buddy hasn't cleaned his room in 3 days (good for him, not good for the OCD in me that has to keep closing his door)! Errrr, maybe the not cleaning the room part isn't so much of a good news, but let's just pretend! So all in all a super fantastic, rocked baptisms like a YW, day!

Good thinking.....

Being the good mother that I am, I helped Buddy with his exercise regime this evening....
That would be him pushing me in a wagon. Then I think I upgraded from good to great by making sure he didn't get hit by cars during his training....
Yep, I know, I totally nailed it! So all in all a super fantastic, just looking out for my boy, day!

Potty mouth....

Buddy's been begging Shane to make him a potty to go with the plungers that were printed out for our Blue and Gold banquet, since apparently the plungers really needed  something to "plunge out". Buddy picked this nice little toilet out last night  from the array of toilet blueprints available to print on the 3D printer. It even double duties (or doodies) as a cup......aren't we lucky, and admit it, just a little bit fancy? In other news, next week someone is getting these placed....
Buddy has been very excited about getting braces....that is until they put in spacers today and it hurt like the dickens......now he's slightly afraid.  He doesn't care so much about his crooked teeth, matter of fact last night he and his friend Tyler were laughing about how crooked his teeth are! Buddy was even  fist bumping himself for the awesomeness of it all. Now if only the rest of us could get in line with the fist bumping our imperfections, I think the world would be a way more awesome place! So all in all a super fantastic, not a potty mouth anymore, but then again we're sleeping, day!

Sneak peak.....

So in two weeks this is going to happen......
That would be our Blue and Gold Banquet invitations created by our Primary President.....fantastic aren't they? If you don't know about the Raving Rabbids, it's a video game where you are loaded with plungers to attack the alien rabbids (that would be the crazy eye'd rabbits....). Thankfully Buddy was good enough to test out one of our games for me (what a sacrificing soul he is)....

Sheesh, and for a second there I thought boys wouldn't be into laying on the floor and pulling themselves along by sheer plunger power! Also, I'm planning on quite a few more of these.....
Not 100% sure what I mean by that statement, perhaps the crazy rabbid look in their eyes.....perhaps the goofy plastered faces, or possibly the papercraft in Buddy's hand......either way, I'm ready.....well, I will be ready in two weeks (at least I'm really hoping to be)!!!!!!  In other news, the boys created this masterpiece and Buddy insisted that it was so beautiful I needed to take a picture of it(of course, as Buddy's number 1 fan I wholeheartedly agree)!
So all in all a super fantastic, bring on the blue and the gold, day!

Distractions....

I told Buddy not to come out of his room until he finished his homework.......
I found him doing this......

At least he didn't come out of his room before completing his homework. Hmmm, perhaps I should rethink the mandate for homework to be completed in his room, unless his homework is actually to avoid doing homework. In that case I think we've totally nailed it! Thankfully, he has finally emerged from his room with his completed writing assignment, just in time for bed....My parenting skills are at an all time high today!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, very distracting, day!

Taking lessons....

Buddy has been kind enough to show me the ropes  on how to be a boy today....

Apparently I need more lessons....
So all in all a super fantastic, at least I'm the master of one lesson today (that'd be the goofy master), day!

Responsible?

Buddy stayed home sick today. Yes, he totally could have gone today, but I'm not a huge fan of the cootie sharing that the school already does. Plus, after staying awake half the night listening to him cough, and then staying up the other half listening for him to breathe because I gave him a double whammy of medication I totally  we totally deserved to sleep in and rest today. I had him call his teacher and get his homework assignment for the day, to which his teacher thanked him for being a "responsible student".  Oh look, the pigs are flying again! In other news, Buddy placated me by letting me take a picture for Facebook.....
So I could post some of the advantages to being afflicted with "color vision deficiency" (aka colorblind). Seriously, when we got the diagnosis from the eye doctor he acted like we should be devastated (ummm, we weren't and we already knew).  So Buddy will never be able to disarm bombs.....pretty certain I won't be losing sleep over that loss. On the bright side of what he can do: solve a Rubik's cube in record time,  be a great companion on St. Patrick's  Day when you have forgotten to garb yourself in the obligatory green, and you always dress impeccably (because everything in your closet matches). Colorblindness for the win!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, not so deficiency deficient, day

Supermom.....well, kinda.....

Buddy is so sweet and everyday while walking into school, he makes sure to invite me to have lunch with him. Shane thinks I'm silly and spoiling him by going to lunch with him EVERY SINGLE DAY, but I know the day is coming sooner than later that he will not even acknowledge my existence in front of his friends.....
I'll take it while I can get it! A few weeks ago he invited me to library time to help him pick a book since he's a little finicky about his reading material (think hilarious thoughts) and according to him, the librarian doesn't have time to help him. Errrr, there is only one librarian and 25 mobile and not so quiet kids! After the first time I showed up, the librarian herself invited me herself to come and help his class on library days....Anyway, this past Monday was a library day and the first half of the time the kids were to make and write a Valentine's Day card for a veteran to be dropped off at the local Army base. Buddy made a fantastic one with lots of hearts and then proceeded to ask the librarian if he could give it to me because I'm a nurse.....which, I believe in Buddy's mind is just like being in the military! FYI-she said no, and now some military personnel is stuck with a card with lots of "I love you mom"s all over it! I'm really hoping it goes to a woman......better yet, I'm hoping it goes to a mom, otherwise that could be one really awkward card! In other news, it's really difficult to figure out who is going to be the rabbit in pictures....
Sheesh, thankfully that's settled....
So all in all a super fantastic, wearing my cape while I type this (that'd be my super hero cape if you were wondering.....or my nursing cape, it goes well with my nursing cap I got at graduation), day!
