BANG...

Is it any surprise we're ringing the New Year in with a bang?

Now would you be surprised if we did some banging flash dance moves and recorded them for posterity?

While we were having the last meal of the year we were listing what we were thankful for. Guess what was number one? Nope, not me or Shane...the stinkin' BB guns! We finally got listed in spot number 3(after the laser tag). Of course when I told my boy my feelings were hurt, he changed his mind and said we were really number zero! So there we have it, we're big fat zeros!
So all in all a super fantastic, happy New Years, day!

Grandmas....

Thank goodness for grandmas, and I don't just mean Buddy's . Today I had to go to see the Employee Health Nurse at the Waimea hospital to do some labs/paperwork for a part time gig I have lined up, and Buddy luckily(although not in his opinion) got to tag along. Thankfully for all involved, (well most everyone involved) the lady that shares the office with the Health Nurse happens to be an awesome grandma, even if it's not his grandma! Buddy now has some awesome connections that hooked him up with this...

Yep, that is a certification titling the Budster as a Lego Master, so now we have it in writing, so you can believe the hype! In other news, is it wrong that Buddy made his own dinner and has consumed 5 cuties already and still has this plated up?

So all in all a super fantastic, can you say diarrhea, day!

Parents...

I do believe my parenting has sunk (or risen, depending on who you ask) to a whole new level...

In additional news to my awesome gun buying abilities, I have honed in on my embarrassing potential. While we were driving with the radio on, I was bopping my head along for all of 2 seconds, and was promptly told to stop my embarrassing ways! Poor Buddy, he has no idea of the embarrassing road ahead of him, when will he learn?
So all in all a super fantastic, embarrassed, day!

Camping in the red light district....

After Buddy went on his Cub-o-ree camping trip, he's been begging to go camping again. After all, that was tons of fun, if you like being in a torrential rainstorm. Which, thank goodness, Buddy happens to. No rain this time, just lots and lots of wind. I'm talking about blow you away kind of wind. Most people had their tents tied to the trees and nearby buildings. I'm more of a naturalist I guess, or I didn't have a rope, so I improvised with some nice heavy rocks!

Ask any boy, rocks rock! We played at the beach, since it'd be silly not to since we were on the aforementioned beach....

I would make fun of Buddy for bringing those ski goggles to the beach, but I'm thinking of inventing a pair for the beach! He ended up being the only kid not crying about getting sand in his eyes....my genius, now to steal his idea and make lots of money! Wahahaha (that's my evil laugh).
When we were done with the beach we decided to adventure around the park. That adventure led us to a pole in the middle of nowhere. Of course Buddy, being the boy he is, quickly hopped on the pole. Then he said "mom, do you want me to pole dance for you?". I haven't read a parenting book in a while, so I'm a little rusty. I just couldn't quite come up with the appropriate response to that one!

Then we climbed a tree to watch the sunset. Well, it was a good idea, until I realized we had a great view of branches instead of the sunset. Oh well, the sun sets every day and how often do you get to climb one of these behemoth things?

Buddy then adopted himself into a nice Hawaiian family and roasted marshmallows with them. That would be before and after a few rounds of laser tag (thanks Santa)...

When we woke up this morning (let me mention someone slept like a rock, whilst someone else fretted a little too much about the windstorm), our neighbor caught an eel. It was awesome, Buddy not only got to see and touch the eel, but watch his head and spine being cut out! Yay, now his dream has come true...

Now what good is an eel head if you don't have a stick?

That's better! Now that we've returned home, we invited a friend over to do some expansion work on the trench under our house...

So all in all a super fantastic, vacation, day!

Connected...

There is nothing like being at a family party more than 2,000 miles away!

Buddy and his cousin Keyon hung out all day. At one point they were building Lego's separately together! Then they started texting each other. When dinner came, Buddy sat down with his phone beside his plate and then began frequently checking his phone. Yep, that's right, my high roller, all important 7 year old was expecting a call.
In other news, have you ever seen a kid so excited about getting a book?

Although I really don't blame him. I mean, have you read the greatness that is Captain Underpants, and have you met us?
Lastly, we are well on our path to shooting our eyes out...

Good thing Shane and I are such great parents that we are more concerned with recording the momentous occasion for posterity than actually helping out the poor kid, but you've gotta draw the line somewhere!
So all in all a super fantastic, Merry Christmas, day!!!

Shephards gone wild?

I wonder if hanging out with all those sheep has affected their brains?
In other news, we're climbing the walls waiting for Santa...

Of course we had to borrow someone else's walls, because putting foot prints on your own doesn't seem quite so in tune with the Christmas Spirit of giving!!!
Now if only someone would fall asleep so some serious Christmas magic would begin! Aghh, who am I kidding? He is the Christmas Magic!!!!
So all in all a super fantastic Christmas Eve, day!

The therapist....

So next week I start physical therapy for the third time in my life(no worries, just getting old, and my body is telling me that exercise is really bad for your health, who knew?). Thankfully I have my own little therapist that helps me do my ADL's (that'd be activities of daily living for my non-nursing friends). Yep, he helps me dress, he helps me stand, and most importantly he helps me remember to party....

Cause that's the most important thing...oh,and people... parties and people(at least that what I tell Buddy to make him think I'm a good mom). Now if I could just send a memo to my body about the partying thing, that would be fantastic!!!!
Earlier today Buddy entered a staring contest with this little guy...

Word to the wise, don't bet against the plastic elf!!!
So all in all a super fantastic, partying it up, day!

The Golden Rule...

So you know this one right? Do unto others....

As you would do unto you?

(That's my boy "busting his balls", don't ask me, I think it's a boy thing)
Now I'm just waiting to do unto the person that bought this for Buddy...

Yep, that's the little pied piper himself not only serenading me in the loo, but also on our 45 minute walk today. No really dad, let us repay the favor!
So all in all a super fantastic, doing good, day!

Awkward...

What? Doesn't everyone else's kids sleep with a mask on? Furthermore, don't all parents tell their kids that the mask is really a ninja mask, when it has some seriously girly undertones and their child refuses all things girly? Just don't ruin it for me, we've got a good thing going here!
So all in all a super fantastic, sleeping in, in style, day!

Superhero's...

I woke up this morning with my knee hurting a lot (all this time I always thought the disclaimer on workout videos to see a physician was more of a suggestion than a requirement). Anyway, since I was hurting Buddy took over as primary caregiver, he made me breakfast, gave me lots of hugs and then changed into his "superhero" outfit to do some vacuuming...

Yes, he wore his Cub Scout uniform yesterday, but he insisted he wear it again today. I guess he's been reading the helpful section in the Cub Scout manual. Since he was on a helpful superhero roll, he decided to have some friends over and put in the trench under the house that I've been needing placed (you never know when you'll need a trench in a pinch)...

Is it odd, or is it just a fact of life that in all the pictures I got, the boys are always resting and the girl is doing all the work? Hmmm, I guess the sooner she gets used to that fact of life, the better off she'll be with adjusting to the real world?
Anyway, they had a fantastic time, strike that, a super fantastic time. They only came out of the trenches for food, water and bathroom breaks (although Buddy was asking for special peeing permission to just let loose under the house....all I can say is that I am so greatful he asked)!
So all in all a super fantastic, saving the world one hole at a time, day!

The Ruse...

Ever wanted to check out the local fire station and feel awkward about just showing up at their door? It's amazing what doors will fly open if you mention that you're in with the Cub Scouts of Pack 120!

(By the way, those guys were so awesome and deserve lots and lots of cookies....probably not made by me though, they deserve something actually nice).
Now I'm wondering what other doors are going to start opening with my name dropping?
Christmas at the White House might be kind of cool. By the way, not to rub it in or anything, but did you notice someone's still wearing shorts in the middle of December? OK, you got me, I was rubbing it in a little bit, but does it make it all better when I mention I know a Cub Scout in the Aloha Pack 120?
In other news I started my 60 day body ripping regime. I'll post pictures only if it works....yay, something to look forward too, pictures of my blubber! Yippee!
So all in all a super fantastic, firemen rock, day!

Lessons learned from Brooke Shields...

Today while we were waiting for some friends to come over for dinner, Buddy decided to make himself more presentable. He sweetly asked if he could use my mascara and lipstick. I figured no big deal, I'm not using it, and then he presented me with this...

Seems he must have had an 80's icon as his inspiration, or is it just me? I'm pretty sure he won't be doing a repeat makeup performance anytime soon since he cried like a baby taking off his "makeup" in the shower. That's when I had to tell him that that was the price of beauty.
In other news, the friends helped Buddy put new flooring in his room....

Heck, I didn't know they were contractors, all along I just thought they were just regular run of the mill kids...Actually, I have to confess, Buddy did the redecorating all by himself, he's getting pretty good at it. First his face, then his floor and now this...

Awesome!!!
So all in all a super fantastically, bushy eyebrows, day!

Believing the disbelief....

I just got busted by Buddy in my Goodboy ruse. Let me explain, Buddy was in bed, with his eyes closed and silly little me thought he was asleep. With Buddy asleep and my bedtime getting near, I thought it would be a good idea to let Goodboy on the loose to do some nighttime sailing. Dun...dun...dun, enter the Buddy boy who catches me mid water scene creation. Then he tells me he knew the elf wasn't real because he did the unimaginable and touched the elf, the elf that according to the book would loose his magical powers if touched by a human child. I told Buddy that perhaps he didn't touch the elf long enough to necessitate the loss of magical powers. Instead of comforting what I thought to be a distraught child, I got "no mom, I touched him a lot to make sure his powers would go away". Hmmm, seems this kid is too smart and is on the verge of disbelief. Of course right now he's refusing to touch the elf, who is oddly sitting beside a boat, on the off chance that the elf is real. One word for that kid.....STINKER. You want to know what we do to stinkers at this house?

That's right, we regift them for Christmas. What? You don't? Interesting.
So all in all a super fantastic, fall asleep already kid, day!

Playing in the rain, well, kind of....

In other news, tomorrow is Buddy's last day of school for the year. To celebrate we ate a few Christmas trees, cause that's what normal people do. Afterall, all that fiber is good for the digestive tract...

It's so good in fact that we made enough to share with a bunch of 1st graders. Believe me, those 1st graders could use all the help they can get with their digestive tracts from the sounds of things!
As far as Goodboy goes, he got sick of Buddy asking where the angel for our tree is and delegated himself to the position....well, after he played with some sticks, cause why wouldn't he play with a bunch of sticks...

Lastly, Santa just bought my Christmas present online. Ummm, it's a workout regime that I bought for myself under the ruse of Santa because, let's face it I'd be pretty ticked off if Shane gave it to me (even if I wanted it, I think that behavior is embedded in the female genetic code). So when you read this Shane, thanks for the fantastic gift, it was just what I wanted....well, other than a baby, but I couldn't find any of those online!
So all in all a super fantastic, getting what we want, day!
