The look of disappointment....

Apparently, life after an "all boys party" just seems to make regular every day life seem kind of hum drum in comparison ...
At least from the looks of Buddy's face, perhaps we should try again....
That's better, I think. So all in all a super fantastic, after party, day!

Boy Rule....girls apparently drool.....

Buddy had his "Boy Only" Party tonight, it seems like these boys are growing into men before our eyes....
Thankfully, they're not growing so fast that they wouldn't play with a marshmallow shooter...
But then again, perhaps you never grow out of playing with marshmallow shooters (I didn't catch any pictures of the 2 men in attendance using the shooters, but let me assure you, they were active participants)...
You know if you ask any gardener, one of the main ingredients if you want something to grow is water. Believe me we had plenty of it....
Next up in our growing process, building...
and destroying...
(Let me assure you, they are quite the professionals at destroying). Since they did so well at the destruction, they decided to show off their manliness, by having some healthy competition. First up, bubble blowing...
Seed spitting...
Then, since they were so adept at building and destroying, they decided to do it again, this time with eggs (I tell you, today wasn't a good day to be in the bird family)...
Disclaimer: all the eggs were damaged in the making of this production. Then to end the party with a big bang, we decided to make a blast of it....
Of course, our friends soda, and mentos helped out a bit. The boys thought it was so exciting they ran in the soda explosions (yes I said explosions, 6 to be exact) like it was a water park ride.....
Silly boys, or should I say, silly, sticky boys! Now Buddy is ending his party with a fantastic sleep over that's including watching some "manly" show about wild hogs (yes I'm actually talking about hogs, not motorcycles). So all in all a super fantastic, party/ but not pooper, day!

Preparation and not just H......

Ever wonder what 1000 filled water balloons looks like? Yep, me too, but I know what 500 looks like.....
It looks good enough to have 14 boys completely saturated within 2 minutes. I think the boys are pretty excited. During lunch some of Buddy's classmates requested to add a burping contest to the mix (will it be embarrassing to them or me when I win that one?)! So now we have on our agenda water balloons, a life sized game of angry birds, marshmallow shooting guns, dropping eggs of the balcony (hopefully in a shatterproof casing), a burping contest, a farting contest (also suggested by a classmate), watermelon seed spitting and gloop. Wowzers, hopefully it's a boy's dream come true, but if not, I guess we'll make a disaster trying!!!!! So all in all, a super fantastic, ready for a mess, day!

The beginnings.....

We've started preparing for our "BOYS ONLY" party in 2 days....
Buddy was a lot of help in preparing the first of our 1500 water balloons that we are the proud owners of. Yep, like I said, lots of help with the first. Then he decided he had bigger battles to contend with...
Thank goodness Shane gets the day off tomorrow, cause I think I might know something he can do to pass his time while I go shopping for some last minute party supplies (yes, I am laughing on the inside). So all in all a super fantastic, ready to party it up, day!

The village....

You know the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"? Perhaps I'm taking it too literally? Whilst I was slumbering after a night shift extravaganza, the village took my kid to the beach, fed him, entertained him, bandaged a scrape he got on his back and then took a picture to share with me....
(He's on the top tree branch) This village stuff is working out well for me (perhaps not the other villagers, but Buddy and I are pretty stoked about it!). So all in all a super fantastic, village living, day!

Get rich quick....

When we got home from church Buddy wanted to do some painting. How creative and sweet I thought, of course then I started thinking that maybe I had a junior Picasso on my hands.....
I must have had a temporary brain fart of who exactly my kid is! So it's no Picasso, it's way better. I was half tempted to see what I'd get on eBay from another picture he painted that I like to call "Covered in Blindness"...
Since Shane has been trying to talk me into buying another piece of "fine art" lately, and we are having quite the disagreement of what is fine and what is art! But I think people will pay anything if you have a cool enough name (but that's just a theory from the "crart" (that's crappy art) that he's been showing me). In other news we turned a regular old pvc pipe into a sword...
Yep, we're amazing how we can turn basically anything into a weapon! My parenting skills are so above par by the likes of that! So all in all a super fantastic, painting it up, day!

Uninvited....

Since Buddy loves to socialize and all things boys, I decided to combine the two and throw a party in that honor! This Friday I will be entertaining the manliest of manly men (errrr, boys) to celebrate all that is dirty, messy and stinky!!!! Hurray!!!! Buddy was more than excited to draw the picture for his invitation explaining the party ......
Nice! He's not excited at all about the concept, especially when he sees other girls and tells them about the "boy only" party. Seriously, hasn't this kid ever heard of decorum? Yeah, probably not, I think I know his mother, and she's a bit on the slackery side when it comes to teaching manners (whooops, we better work on that)!!! So all in all a super fantastic, partying it up, day!

Wardrobe malfunction....

Today while Buddy was exiting the car after school (that'd be through the sun roof of course), I noticed a little certain someone had a rip in his pants. Yep that's right, a nice little rip right down the backside. Probably wouldn't have been that big of a deal if someone actually wore underwear underneath his shorts, but since he's refused to wear underwear since we moved here ( don't judge me, it's hot here and arguing with him about it just seemed silly...pretty sure the world won't end just because he's not wearing underwear), there was a nice direct shot at his bum! I wasn't sure if he was embarrassed about it or not (that happened to me once in second grade, with underwear on of course....I was mortified and didn't leave the girls bathroom until a teacher's aide sewed up my pants and dried my tears), he wasn't, he laughed and said only one other boy had seen. Of course then he mentioned his "girlfriend" had seen too, "but that's why she's [his] girlfriend now". Wow, didn't know his flat white bum was such a girl magnet! Go Buddy! I'm glad he has the personality to pull off ripped pants like I never could! Afterwards, he had a Buddy boss day and had a few of the regular crew come and hang out....
That is of course after a much needed wardrobe change! So all in all a super fantastic, ripping it up, day!

Bad mothering 101 (actually it's 201, I think I've reached a whole new level)....

This morning I was telling Buddy that I planned to meet him at lunchtime, as long I got out of my dental appointment in time. I was expecting an acknowledgement, or maybe some excitement in those plans... Instead, I got a stare down, hands on hips expression and then a "Mom, seriously, you're going to the dentist, I haven't even been all year". Hmmm, am I suppose to schedule those for him? I thought once kids were able to use a phone they were on their own. Oopsy! He's was right, he was a bit overdue. Anyway, to try to make up for my major faux pas, the dentist was nice enough to accomodate an appointment right after school...
I believe Buddy was placated by my peace offering and he doesn't look like he's too broken up about my slacker momma skills...
Now if I could figure out who's in charge of scheduling his baths....his feet are horrendously dirty!
So all in all, a super fantastic, scheduled, day!

Home school, is it really that cool?

Last night Buddy was crying his little eyes out, begging not to have to go to school. Instead he opted to be home schooled for "8 hours" (his requested time, not mine, since regular school is only 6 with lunch and 3 recesses in between). So this morning we started with our usual writing and math homework. Then Buddy decided we should do some science. Then Buddy, being the social butterfly that he is, decided to call a few other home schooled peeps to come and do science with him....
What's that you say? Glad you asked, because I wouldn't have felt right showing this graphic picture otherwise....
The kids were so good at identifying parts, they even found and correctly identified an ovary (of course they called it an egg, but seriously, how smart are they)!!! After everyone left, Buddy declared it was the best party ever. Uh oh, there goes my good intentions of making a boring, work all day home schooling experience (errr, did I just declare myself as a bad mom? Let's just pretend that didn't happen). Hopefully, the boy will return to school tomorrow, otherwise I'm going to have to do some serious research on what exactly he's suppose to be learning (although, I'm pretty sure that first grade curriculum's always have dissections at the top of their list, so we can check that off). So all in all a super fantastic, learning, or was that having fun, or was that fun learning? day!

Caretaker....

Buddy has declared he wants to be a "Gecko Doctor" when he grows up. Hmmmmm, didn't know there was a degree in that, but I'm pretty sure he earned something after he performed CPR on a dying gecko....
Thank goodness Buddy was performing with the newest CPR guidelines of allowing chest compressions only. Otherwise, I think I might have been grossed out, and then made him rinse his mouth with bleach....BLECH! Then, to take good care of his patient, he not only made a bed, but he also wanted to make sure his patient would be comfortable, so he put a window in so he could see...
I think he should bonus points just for his face with this picture...
Unfortunately, the gecko didn't make it. So Buddy is planning a funeral play date for the near future (not sure if that's after the autopsy or after he lets it "rot until it stinks up his room"), yep there's that boy that I know and love! So all in all a super fantastic, specialized specialty, day!

Luck of the draw....

Last night Buddy had a friend sleep over and I got to stay awake all night and work (seriously, don't be jealous). Right after I got home a naughty leprechaun started making mischief in our house. Weird....
The boys formed a hypothesis that leprechauns must be real because no one would mess up their house on purpose. Such smart young lads! I had high hopes of making some Irish food like corned beef and hash....but who am I kidding, that would actually take work and effort! I'll call the fact that Buddy is wearing a green shirt a total win for today. Maybe next year I'll pick up that thing called cooking (but probably not). So all in all a super fantastic, luck of the Irish, day!
