Pals....

It's good to have friends, they make lunch time lots more fun...
Tennis lots easier...
The only problem is getting a car big enough to fit all your best buddies....
Thank goodness we have a future engineer on our hands! Unfortunately, our future engineer thinks that only one door on his limo is a good idea, but in his defense, he did install a "wild spinning ride" in the back so the kids wouldn't get bored...What a thinker! In other news, I was sewing a newborn shirt today for a friend of mine that delivered a few days ago and Buddy started helping me! I don't mean to brag, but seriously, he's a good little stitcher (or is it bragging?)! So all in all, a super fantastic, loving our friends day!

Professionals....

Buddy has decided to try out a professional career in umbrella holding...
I'm ready for the money to start rolling in.... So all in all a super fantastic, walking in the rain, day!

World Peace....

Last time I was in Kona, I picked up some tennis rackets and balls, cause seriously, you can't take a trip to Kona without buying something because that would just be a big waste of gas!!!! Anyway, when I was a kid, my dad used to take me every once in a while to go play tennis. Neither of us was any good, but I remember having fun. So being the fantastic mother that I am, I took my boy to the local courts...
He had a fantastic time....posing for pictures....and then....he cried. He was frustrated that he wasn't hitting the ball, and then I remembered...I hated tennis when I was a kid too. Well, at least the first memory of tennis reminds me of my dad. Which is why today, we brought one of those (a dad) along for our court time...
Things were phenomenally better, who knew that playing a game of hit your mother in the butt with a tennis ball would make the world a better place? Perhaps I should just sew a target onto all of my pants to give the world a little esteem boost? In other news, Buddy wanted to put this picture in the blog today...
If you're thinking that the picture looks like him farting into a hat, then who am I to tell you you're wrong (because you're not). Buddy while posing, told me he wanted to take the picture to make the world a happier place. So there you have it, we are such givers, you're welcome! So all in all a super fantastic, giving, day!

Good investments....

A long time ago Shane and I bought a fancy sprayer nozzle at Home Depot. Who knew years later that same nozzle would inspire this....
Well, I guess I did, cause I don't think I've ever seen a boy not smile while holding a hose....
Hmmmmm, now so many things seem to make sense! So all in all a super fantastic, whatever it takes to get free labor, day!

Themes....

So I've been addicted to party themes lately, and with Buddy's end of school year blow-out fast approaching, I thought we needed a fantastic idea to send the kids off for the summer with a bang. I ran through my ideas with the Budster (which I thought were pretty amazing), they were all quickly shut down and the King Buddy made the decree that this year's end of school year party will be Princess Army, or Army Princess, or perhaps Army/Princesses. Buddy is apparently more sexist than I thought, and while he was describing his party, it seemed to me that he really wanted to throw 2 parties....one for the boys, and one to appease his girlfriend Jasmine(she's in the picture below). Hmmmm, he's more of a ladies man than I thought! I've been looking at Pinterest for Princess Army party ideas, and there's just nothing there, dang Pinterest, making me use my own creative thoughts....don't they know I rely heavily on plagiarizing others!!!!! In other news, I worked last night and I'm tired, so here's a picture from a lunch date with my boy from a few days ago (thank goodness the kids think that every lunch I attend should have a photo shoot included, or I just might never have any pictures)...
So all in all a super fantastic, open to ideas, day!

The silver lining...

A few days ago my iPhone was stolen. Thanks to them, I got to upgrade my phone to have a new audio capability which has ended with my boy asking my phone to asking all kinds of questions....mostly about poop, what makes farts stinky and what are the newest army games out there....
You can't tell me that Einstein wouldn't be doing the same thing if he had an iPhone!!! In other news, Buddy finished his creation in art class...
Now if only we could finish the other 639 art projects sitting on my kitchen counter, we'd be getting somewhere. So all in all a super fantastic, thank goodness for free (well, almost) entertainment, day!

Business as usual....

Since I have a kid that specializes in all things gross and yucky, last time I was at the grocery store I picked up some fresh squid just for him...
Hmmm, he took one glance and quickly told me that squid weren't awesome and next time I needed to buy octopus! Seriously, when did this kid become the seafood connoisseur ? Also, did I really spend a good 40 minutes gutting and skinning squid for no one but me to enjoy because it wasn't octopus (the answer is yes, lesson learned I guess)? After our meal Buddy went to Cub Scouts and has now returned to business as usual...
Embarrassing yes, but I worked last night and only slept for 3 hours today. Perhaps I should tell you he was definitely doing some research on the computer and not playing games.....it's research when you're looking for the level up button, isn't it? In other news, I realize I have it quite good and usually only work one shift a week, but somehow I'm working 2 (really 3 but I haven't broken the news to the boy) this week. When I told Buddy he told me that I was working too much and I should punch work in the mouth. If only that would help Buddy! So all in all a super fantastic, researching games, day!

The 3 Stooges....

So Buddy has become slightly obsessed (again) with the 3 Stooges and watches them every chance he can get (translation, when I'm napping before work). Personally I think he's trying to replicate them....
Pretty sure the other 2 haven't been let in on his little secret....they seem a little too serious....
Although I will say that there is nothing more comedic than watching 3 small boys bowling, just don't tell them I said that. I'm thankful that the people in the lane next to us were OK with our flash dance/bowl mob that occupied not only our lane, but theirs as well. In other news, Buddy won over 1500 tickets from arcade games....
He's quite the gambler (he gets that from me, I'm so proud)...of course what did he do with his hordes of tickets? He got a gun, duh!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, 1 stooge, day!

Defamation by defecation.....

Today we went on a 5 mile hike at the Volcanoes National Forest. Today someone may or may not have had to go to the bathroom, and someone may or may not have gone #2 in a steam vent crack in the middle of this....
When you gotta go, you just gotta go, whether you're in the center of a crater for all the world to see or not. So in a million years, someone may or may not find a fossil of human remains compliments of this little guy (or not)....
You're welcome world for our(alleged) contribution in the name of science. In other news Buddy has a field trip tomorrow to some tide pools. Perhaps we'll try to go to the bathroom before we head out on our journey for that one. So all in all a super fantastic, colon cleansed, day!

Whacha' lookin' at?

We didn't do much today. I went to work for a few hours to complete a class and Buddy and Shane did......something, I'm sure of it. When I came back Buddy had a friend over and they were engaged in a very thorough and very technical dismemberment of an old computer part of Shane's. Then I gathered up all my strength and made a very fancy dinner...
I know, impressive right! Tomorrow we're playing hooky (shhh, don't tell the school district) to go to Hilo to visit with one of Shane's friend's that is coming in on a cruise for the day. I'm sure I will be using every opportunity I get to have a teaching moment!!!! Errrm, ummmm, what were we talking about? So all in all a super fantastic, just call me super mom, day!

Spares......

Buddy came home from school excited to continue his creative process, so after homework he made a crane (all by himself, I might add)....
He did pretty darn fantastic, but then again, I am a doting mother so he could pretty much make a huge clump, call it art and I'd think it was amazing! Of course how fun is clay making if you don't have some spare kids hanging around to ooh and ahh at all of your creations!
Like I said, thank goodness for spare kids! So all in all a super fantastic, claymation, day!

Resident....

Today after school Buddy went to his art class. They made clay turtles that will be drying all week, so they can paint them at the next class. Buddy thought it was so fantastic that he requested to go to the store to buy more clay so we could continue the creative fun. Since I had nothing else planned, or since I'm on a serious sleep deprivation and would basically say yes to anything, we headed up to Ace (since it's the place, or at least that's what the ads have lead us to believe). When we were driving to the store, we passed a huge.....and when I say huge, I mean ridiculously gigantic boot. Buddy actually begged for me to take him there so he could do this....
for you! It seems we have a resident comedian in our midst, and I really couldn't be prouder. He was sad the pictures didn't turn out so fantastic, next time we'll plan our photo shoots better and I'll bring the good camera (sheesh, artists can be so persnickety). So all in all a super fantastic, sometimes it's good to not have plans, day!

Hi.....larious.....

Sometimes, you just have to be your own cheerleader! Just kidding, I was cheering and laughing right along with the boy while I was giving him his requested do! We kicked Shane out because we think he has a bad case of hair envy and keeps shaving the boy's hair all off! In other news, Buddy was sick and stayed home from church today. Of course not sick enough to keep him from waking me up every 20 minutes while I was trying to nap before work tonight to ask if someone could come over and play with him. Hmmmm, not sure I know many kids that want to play in a pile of snotty tissues, but maybe that's just me. So all in all a super fantastic, good thing we think we're funny, day!

Makahiki...

Buddy had his pinewood derby race today. First the kids had to (I mean got to) stand at attention throughout an opening ceremony....
Then, since the kids were in a racing mood, they got to hang out with some racing cars....strike that, they go to hang out with the sole racing car on the island (hmmm, I wonder who wins in the race against itself?)....
While we were waiting for the racing to begin, we did what any normal person would do and created a bird out of pond fronds....
Did you know you could even make a whistle out of them....
Of course, ours never actually worked, but Buddy is practicing up on his hyperventilation skills in the meantime....which I'm sure is a win-win situation! Then Buddy's car raced....
His car is the far right one, and he won (the first race only, but holy cow, that's good enough!)Not too shabby for a 7 year old and some guidance from a non-mechanically inclined mother! Afterwards, Buddy got to break an egg....
Obviously it wasn't on purpose....
Afterwards Shane was sure to tell me he would have designed the egg drop container differently (also the car).....Hmmmm, I'm just wondering where he's been the last 5 weeks that we've known, and been preparing for Makahiki? Then we went to some more fantastic booths, where the boy painted on a coconut (cause why wouldn't you, it's totally awesome)...
Rolled some stones....
Got showed up by a girl...
Then raced some boats...
You know, no big deal, just a regular run of the mill Saturday for us! So all in all a super fantastic, Makahiki, day!!!

11th hour.....

Since the pinewood derby is bright and early tomorrow morning, our resident man in the house decided to finally pitch in and help the resident little man with his car....
Glad he was there to help with the wheels, not sure if we could have handled the tough job of hammering, since Buddy completed the shaping, sanding and painting by himself (well, mostly). He's pretty darn proud, if you couldn't tell! He wanted to make sure you saw all the sweet angles of his car...
Believe me I have lots more angles of the car he wanted me to take, but I'm using my executive veto power to edit the pictures down, way, way down! In other news, Buddy invited some friends over for a sweet, innocent root beer party....
Ummm, who am I kidding, we haven't done sweet and innocent for years!!! Any party we have is just another excuse to do this....
So all in all a super fantastic, ready to race, day!
