The 1%....

Buddy is having a "food celebration" in his 'Ike Hawai'i class. The students were asked to bring in something from their cultural background made in or associated to Hawaii. Since according to our 23 and me results, that would mean we are bringing in our 0% Hawaiian treat. Instead, Buddy is celebrating his heritage.

Buddy is celebrating his 1% Eastern European roots (which according to 23 and me is 100% Shane's fault). In celebration of his newfound Russian roots, he made Halva...by himself, and from scratch!

Don't know what Halva is? Yeah, I didn't either, but thank goodness Buddy has his newfound Russian obsession and got the recipe. Sunflower seeds, sugar and water....who knew. Buddy made it all. Now it's "curing" per Buddy's orders. Hope it tastes good, it actually smells good, so at least there's that!!!!  So all in all a super fantastic, can we be done with school yet, day!

My baby.....

 Buddy moves up moves up to high school next week. That means I only have four more years with my baby......Good thing he still acts like a baby.....

 Too bad he doesn't fit like one....

 In other news, we decided to really show our southern roots today.....

Yes, that's Shane blow torching from the comfort of  his lounge chair, and Buddy shooting cans from the comfort of the garage. Why wouldn't you honestly? In other news, I found a stud today...

What do you know, he was already under my nose! So all in all a super fantastic, don't grow so fast Buddy, day!

The Russians are coming....

 Buddy has a weird obsession with Russia lately. He's been wearing his "Russian" hat for years, but a few months ago he started taking Russian language lessons online, a few days ago I overheard him talking to his friend with a fake Russian accent, today he had his guitar teacher teach him the Soviet National Anthem and yesterday he made me "Russian Potato Salad". The boys made sure to make the salad wearing their official hats!!!! 

The salad was pretty good, especially since it has liverwurst in it, which has to be one of the foulest ingredients on the planet!!! But hey, any day that I don't have to cook is a serious win for me! Buddy is currently looking up his next great concoction to make for us.....I'm pretty stoked about it honestly! In other news, the boy and I went picketing today at my old job....

Yeah, we're pretty awesome....also, our sign's say Safe Staffing Matters because when you won't hire more nurses because you are a hospital and you want to make more  money instead of actually caring for patients, you are an idiot!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, hoping steak tartare isn't on the menu, day!

"Ruff" Life....

Buddy has just been kicking back and collecting his paycheck.....

Can you believe he's actually making money for playing with a dog??? Hello dream job!!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, not complaining, day!

Gigs....

Buddy has his first paying job from a non-friend or family member. That's right, this boy got a paying gig from just word of mouth of his awesomeness!!!!

 When we took the dog for a walk earlier, Shane, the non-dog lover kept asking us if we still wanted a dog since we kept having to pick up poop!!! YEP!!!! This one is awesome! Pretty positive Buddy would totally be in to play and walk this one for free....but we won't tell the owners that!

In other news, phase one of our summer vacation is coming to fruition....

So all in all a super fantastic, ready for a road trip....maybe Buddy will pay for it, day!
