Thank goodness for Buddy(s).......

I had a bad day at work the other night (somehow it didn't even have anything to do with patient care, which I actually think makes it worse, since I think bureaucracy is the dumbest reason to cry about work). Thank goodness I have one of these to make it all better....
That's a self portrait of my boy by the way, I have at least 20 more just like it. Anyway, I've been mad/sad, etc... and going over the whole situation over and over in my mind, then I ran across this quote on Pinterest (thank goodness for pinterest too I guess)..."You can be excellent in every way. You can be first class. There is no need for you to be a scrub. Respect yourself. Do not feel sorry for yourself. Do not dwell on unkind things others may say about you. Polish and refine whatever talents the Lord has given you. Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart."
Someone had compiled a bunch of President Hinckley's quotes and it was just what I needed! Anyway, I decided to add it here since I have no where else to put it, you're totally welcome! In other news, Buddy is doing a social studies project where he has to show an artifact and explain how it relates to our family. My parents were kind enough to send us a bunch of pictures of "antiques" so Buddy could pick something, although I'll just have to put it out there that he was quite disappointed that there wasn't a grenade/tank/bomb (insert insanely awesome yet dangerous military object here) just sitting around in the family vault to be passed down through the generations! Anyway, he saw my dad's slide ruler and immediately fell in love (which is a good thing for this project). Buddy is planning on putting pictures of my dad on the display and my dad was nice enough to comply and provide us with quite a few from his military days. Once again, Buddy was soooooo stinkin' excited that after I printed off the pictures, Buddy decided he should make copies, more copies, and then some more copies. Errrr, well, at least he's well versed on the copy function of our printer! So all in all a super fantastic, loving my boy, day!

A swing built for two?

Buddy had a play mate come for a few hours today. They played and played and played, unfortunately Buddy is an only child, so they had to share a few things....
I think everything worked out though, because before his friend left Buddy turned on a video game to zap some brain cells....
From the looks of the picture I think the zapping is almost complete!  Errrr, I'm thinking if all the computers just disappeared no one would notice, right?????? So all in all a super fantastic, playing and sharing, day!

Land Ho.....

After Buddy's soccer game this morning we high tailed it to a Pirate's Birthday Party which was held at the coolest place.....the beach. We'll call it some serious pirate awesomeness....
Now Buddy has a friend over and they're shooting airsoft guns! Could this be more of a macho day? I think I'm even growing hair on my chest from it all (errrr, was that out loud?). So all in all a super fantastic, testosterone filled, day!

Reunions....

Buddy's BFF is back from an extended vacation! I told Buddy that Tyler(the aforementioned BFF) was coming over after school today on our way out the door to school. Errrrr, probably not the best thing to do to his teacher since Buddy immediately became a excited bundle of energy. Now the balls of energy are harnessing their energy for powers of good......at least good reading, since the newest Captain Underpants arrived at our house today via the good ole' trusty USPS! We love any super hero that runs around in their underwear, but maybe that's just us! So all in all a super fantastic, sleep over, day!

Dead as a toenail?

Buddy had a scooter accident on his way to school today. I didn't see it, I was about 20 feet in front of him on my bike, but I heard it. It's hard to miss when a little body slams into a lava rock wall at 10 mph...of course the crying is what actually got my attention. Buddy's OK, and more importantly actually still made it to school on time (much to his chagrin)! Of course he had to sacrifice a little bit of his left toe and toenail for his war story....
Of course when you make a noble sacrifice, people are bound to notice.....
So all in all a super fantastic, that's what I get for starting to let little piggies go to the market when he was a baby (give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile)......

day!

The day Buddy got stuck in the closet....

Today I had my first Faith in God meeting (think cub scouts for girls 8-11). We did these....
Well, actually I made mine in 10 minutes and I'm not sure what the girls did for their hour????? All I really do know is that Buddy refused to go to cub scouts tonight because he would  "be away from me", errrrrm, nice heartwarming excuse, but seriously, when I find him doing this in his "man cave".....
(He's playing a shoot'em up video game in there on the lap top) I'm  pretty positive I just got the wool pulled over my eyes!  My boy is no mamma's boy, he's a gamer, just like dad (who happened to be hiding in his room on the other laptop playing the same game)! Jimminey! Well, at least everyone had fun, or something like that. So all in all a super fantastic, hanging in the closet, day!

Made this way....

So today, I saved a few lives ,not to brag about being a big deal, but my blood is streamlined straight to the newborns (I'd like to take credit, but my mommy and daddy made me this way).....
(Is it wrong of me to be posting this picture solely for the opportunity to make my husband sick to his stomach.....nah, he should really toughen up!)
Buddy, with all of his awesome big dealiness,  decided to reenact an episode of the Three Stooges (just the way HIS Mommy made him)....

Yes, they really are bonking each other on the heads.....boys, I'm pretty certain that I will never understand them! So all in all a super fantastic, making our way through, day!
