Painting 101...

The first step to a great painting is having a great partner (you didn't know that all the famous artists always worked in pairs did you? There was Pi and Casso, there was Mo and Net and my personal favorites Van and Gough)...

Unfortunately, sometimes during the creative process, the canvas you were provided with isn't turning out to be as awesome as you are...

Seriously, who is this kid's mother, and why is she just sitting around taking pictures of the shenanigans?

Speaking of shenanigans, remember when Buddy learned this...

It appears that he's starting a new fad...

It's definitely not the first time he started a craze. Just last year he started loving Sonic the Hedgehog and I had to find vintage stuff from EBay? Now Sonic is everywhere!!! I mean everywhere, I'd like to think it was due to my boy's seriously awesome trendsetting ways. Also, I'm still waiting for our thank you card to arrive from the Sonic the Hedgehog industry. It is the polite thing to do after all!
So all in all a super fantastic, painting our way out of a paper bag, day!

Up, up and away...

Are you humming the Fifth Dimension's song about a beautiful balloon, cause unfortunately I am, and now it's stuck...GREAT! The other day, Buddy (the hoarder) and I went through his toy box to get rid of "baby toys"(that'd be you Elmo) and broken toys. I'll pretend the whole process went smoothly and didn't include a little someone pulling out EVERY SINGLE ITEM and declaring it his "favorite". Anyway, while we were sifting through we hit the jackpot, or the jackpot hit us...

Yep, that would be a balloon helicopter from Christmas 3 years ago (I'm not impressed that we still have it mind you, I do live with 2 hoarders, I'm impressed it actually still works). In other news, Buddy and the neighbor boy started playing sweetly with paper airplanes. It started with just a distance competition and progressively got dirtier and more destructive, ending with piling a bunch of dirt and rocks in a crumpled up paper ball and throwing it across the street. Hmmm, boys, it's an art form to be able to turn even the simplest games into such mass destruction!!!
Maybe tomorrow we'll do it all again!
So all in all a super fantastic, flying high, day!

Education....

My boy, he's no dummy, he really knows to enjoy this island living....

I was jealous I didn't have a button down shirt on so I could do that too, just kidding...kind of! I tried to actually take his shirt off so he could cool down even more on our walk home from school, but I was told he was in his regulation uniform and the outfit could not be separated. (I told you it was Cub Scout craziness around my house... I'm sure there is an author of rule books out there somewhere smiling at Buddy's tenacity for uniform regulations!) Anyway, we had our socializing hour...I mean cub scout meeting tonight and we found out about a jiu-jitsu class that may be right up Buddy's alley (our should I say up his alley, down the block and around the neighborhood), heck I'm even excited for Thursday to check it out!
So all in all a super fantastic, following the rules, day!

Half Nelson

We've been making sure that Buddy has lots of exposure to all the careers out there...you know, it's never too early to start. Lately, Buddy and I have been practicing our wrestling maneuvers. Let me rephrase that, Buddy has been practicing his wrestling maneuvers...

Yep, I definitely see a future! Although, I think I have discovered why so many wrestlers wear those silly little masks...to cover up the fact that they are laughing their heads off (how can you take a career seriously when you're laughing all the time, right)! So here's to my boy and the move we erroneously named the half nelson (it sounded right at the time, and it's fun to say)!
So all in all a super fantastic, I think I need thicker pillows, day!

Plethora...

Ever since Buddy joined the cub scouts, it seems like beyond the daily choice of always wanting to wear his cub scout uniform (we have it now settled to one day a week), it's raining cub scout paraphernalia around here....

I would say it's getting kinda ridiculous, but Santa is encouraging the shenanigans (and who am I to argue with Santa)....unfortunately Santa forgot to tell Shane the plans for the package that came in the mail today!
So all in all a super fantastic, everything's coming out Cub Scouts, day!

Extremes...

It seems my kid just want to take his modeling to a whole new level as evidenced by this...

and this...

In other news, we put up our Christmas tree yesterday. What can I say, Buddy asked and I didn't have a reason not to (cause seriously the fact that Christmas is still a month and a half away didn't really seem like a good reason). So today we pulled out our regular crew of cowboys (that would be Daisy Mae, Billy Bob and Mr. HairyButts) to admire our handywork...

Let's just say that they thought we were amazing. At least until Mr. HairyButts started having bowel problems that threw someone into a fit of giggles and our praises somehow got lost in the shuffle, or should I say... explosive kerfuffle.
Since today is Veteran's Day I need to give a shout out to Buddy's favorite people...the military. I can't even imagine a tenth of a sacrifice that the men and women of the armed forces give to protect and serve our country, not just them, but their families. I appreciate all that they do for this great country of ours (which might get a little greater if everyone else votes for Huntsman next year, but that's just me). I'm proud I'm related to so many servicemen...Not to brag or anything, but did you know my dad served in the AirForce and served in the Bay of Pigs...well if you consider it serving when you go on a plane ride and that plane U-turns back to home somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean (Oh, wait, was I suppose to be bragging? Just kidding, I'm very glad that story ends this way, instead of something else).
So all in all a super fantastic, thanking our Veteran's, day!

Impressive?

So what do you do before school to impress the girls? Why you show off your awesome hanging skills, and then take turns from your perch spitting into the mud pit below...

I knew you'd be impressed! In other news, for the three day weekend I'm taking the boy camping at a beach, should be awesome!!!!
So all in all a super fantastic, hanging around, day!
