Run, run, as fast as you can....

Buddy and I have been running every night for a month. When I say running, I really mean more of a walk with bursts of walking faster. Last night we actually ran for two miles straight without slowing. According to Buddy, it's because we finally remembered to bring our MP3 players with us so we didn't have to listen to the other person breathing heavy and we could concentrate!!!! And here I thought the actual exercise was the distraction! So all in all a super fantastic, concentrating, day!

Buddy is the best kid in the universe (well, my universe anyway)! I worked Saturday night and then had to teach a lesson at church Sunday morning....which meant no sleep for 30 + hours for me. I woke up Buddy and asked him to go to church with me to keep me awake. He popped right up, got dressed and hopped in the car....I would say that was a minor miracle (he usually cries and grumps and complains about church, begging to stay home with his dad)! Buddy even came to my Relief Society lesson (although he always comes to Relief Society with me because apparently he has a vendetta against sharing time). When I was done, Buddy lauded my efforts and told me I taught a great lesson! How's that for being a huge ole' kissup???? Like I said....BEST KID EVER...at least on Sunday, Monday is a whole different story, including taking 5 eternal hours to complete 2 pages of homework and insisting that he gets cuddles every two seconds.....errrrr, I think I just actually complained about my tweenager asking for cuddles!!!! My tweenager also invited me to lunch to school today (he's only asked one other time and that was a coordinated effort for me to bring him cookies)...of course when I was walking away he told me "after lunch you can check me out of school early"!!!! Stinker!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, living with the best stinker in the universe, day!

What is it with boys?  No matter where we go....

No matter how goofy it gets.....

And no matter how green the surroundings are....

It never fails that my boy will pick up a stick and insist on turning it into a gun!!!!

And thus ends his sweet bout of innocence! So all in all a super fantastic, stick guns at every turn....

Instruction manuals....

I took the kids to a brand new playground today....

And they didn't even have to look at the instruction manuals!!!

So all in all a super fantastic, love the new playground....but wondering why it's in the middle of nowhere, day!

Cats and dogs....

It rained cats and dogs here yesterday! Well, actually, it didn't rain any cats or any dogs, what a disappointment. Buddy and I  did high tail it to the skate park during the rain storm......

because skate parks + rain = awesomeness....

Trust me!!!Unfortunately the rain stopped way too soon for our likes....possibly not the neighboring towns though, because they flooded so they were probably good with the stoppage of rain. Maybe we'll go to the neighboring town's skate park next time,  because I can only imagine how awesome a flooded skate park/pool would be!!! So all in all a super fantastic, come again rain, day!

Hotter than a donkey!!!

Holy Hannahs, it's hotter than a donkey around these parts!!!! I should be napping before working a night shift tonight, but like I said, it's hotter than a donkey, so no napping for me. At least we have the pool....

And at least we have tons of like minded friends that are smart to escape their own "hotter than a donkey" houses and jump in with us! So all in all a super fantastic, ready for winter (even if it is only 5 degrees difference), day!

Give me a break!!!!

Buddy has a day off of school today...I'm not exactly sure why, but we have learned to never look a gift horse in the mouth. Anyway, a day off of school of course means play dates with friends! Buddy had a slumber party last night, they all of course chose the room with the bunk beds to sleep in, although sleep is not a word I would choose to describe the chaos going on last night!!!! I'm not sure what kind of Nerf wars they were having, but more than half of the bullet heads were torn off......perhaps a gentle war, or would it be a rough war? Anyway, in other news, Buddy finally asked me to go to lunch with him. Well, he invited me to bring some deep fried Oreos to a potluck they were having....

 He just suggested that if I brought them around lunch time they'd be fresher....Hey, you can't blame a girl for trying! In other, other news, Buddy's piano teacher moved so now Buddy isn't taking piano lessons anymore, which we are both sad about. Thankfully, the gecko is making good use of the piano now.....

On the bright side though, the 5th grade curriculum gets ukulele lessons once a week....I've been trying to get Buddy jazzed about taking ukulele lessons for a couple of years now (they offer them after school), he's been extremely resistant....that is until his entire class got in  on the lesson. Learning how to play the ukulele instead of something boring and lame like handwriting or some gibberish like that all of a sudden became a lot more awesome! Buddy is super excited about the ukulele and I am super excited that I can show him off like a freak show with his portable ukulele! This momma bragging is about to get real! In other, other, other news, Shane ordered a new game for the whole family...

 It's called exploding kittens, and you die when your kitten explodes! To say Buddy loved it would be a huge understatement! Nothing like an exploding kitten to get a tweenager to express his love! Not sure what I have to do to get on that list-just kidding, Buddy is extremely vocal about his love for us....just not within hearing distance of anyone else (which is just fine to me)! So all in all a super fantastic, taking a break, day!

Wait, I said friendly, not creepy.....Let's get back to what I was saying, sometimes all you need is one friendly face.....even if it has to be your own.....

In other news the bunk beds we ordered for our vacation rental arrived.....

Buddy kept telling me how he'd always wanted bunk beds! He also kept telling me that he was SOOOOO excited to sleep in the top bunk!!!! Now that is a bunch of bunk!!!! We've had 3 nights of sleeping in the bunk bed and zero nights of Buddy sleeping by himself in the top bunk! Oh well, at least we make pretty handstands together!

So all in all a super fantastic, bunking...but not really, day!

Great Expectations.....

Buddy is working on his fitness merit badge for Boy Scouts. I'm not sure what all when down at the troop meeting where they discussed all the requirements to attain the aforementioned badge, but I did catch the tail end of the conversation where all the boys were mentioning what they do for exercise (mostly rugby, soccer and swimming). When it was Buddy's turn to answer, I'll be honest, I held my breath and prayed that he would mention swimming (I mean we live on an island for goodness sake, swimming is basically a requirement)...instead he shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't know, I guess I walk to school". Unfortunately, everyone knows his walk to school is no 5 mile hike both ways up a hill to school, Buddy's walk includes walking past 4 houses and crossing a street". So now Buddy and I have embarked on an exercise journey so that when he retests in 30 days we can blow everyone's mind with our awesomeness.....or more likely, I won't cringe that my beloved boy isn't getting regular exercise (trust me, I know I'm a terrible mom, but we get out and do lots of stuff...I just don't think it registers in his mind as exercise). We've been running every night, which has actually been really awesome and Buddy looks forward to it-mostly so he can make fun of my beet red face when we're done! The other day my thighs were screaming so I thought we should have a calmer exercise regime and we opted for yoga....

If you have ever done yoga, you will immediately notice the error of my ways for assuming this would be "calmer" for my screaming thighs!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH! So all in all a super fantastic, getting our exercise in, day!

Dads rule!!!!

Last night Buddy told me he needed to take a CD to school to share. I asked him which one he wanted to take, thinking he would answer with his go to music of the Beach Boys. Instead he told me he wanted to take his dad's CD. More specifically, his dad's CD from when his dad played drums for a band that actually went on tours! I stayed up half the night listening to the CD to make sure it was age appropriate (let's just say the lead singer had a penchant for screaming and the f# word). I finally found the perfect song...and the original case that happens to have a picture of Shane....and a dedication to me (Okay, there are 25 other names in that dedication, but let a girl feel special for a second, sheesh)! Buddy proudly walked his CD to school and while waiting in line, of course told every single person in hearing distance that his dad is awesome and was in a band!

 I'll have to totally agree on this one! The music is fantastic, I'm just sad the band broke up years ago...and that we only had one copy. Thankfully, someone was selling one on Ebay, so we will soon be the owners of two Vaddict CD's! This house is about to get even more awesome!

In other news, I found this afloat in the pool yesterday! Weirdest turds ever!

When I was snuggling with Buddy at bedtime tonight, he told me that he loves me.....and that he is awesome! Daily affirmations never had it so good!

Genius at work....

Buddy has been occupying his time like any other normal genius....

Well, if normal geniuses are obsessed with building large babies that pee out lava and poop out a roller coaster ride on Minecraft! I'm pretty certain this is all normal....well, let's be honest, nothing in the above statement is normal....which is normal, which just means it's all good! So all in all a super fantastic, possibly spending too much time on Minecraft, day!
