Nervous Nellie?

Dear mom,
This post is for you. Today, we went kayaking. I tried to rent a double kayak so all three of us could have a seat, but they said the currents were too rough and that they weren't renting them today. Well, Kevin went out for 4 whole minutes (I'm thinking not so much a water fan), then I took Buddy out for a spin to the entrance of the bay. When we got to shore, he decided he hadn't had enough of his turn, so he went for about 30 minutes more. I wanted to show you a picture of him all alone in the middle of the very large bay, just tootling around in our kayak. Unfortunately, I have a bit of your Nervous Nellie genetics and instead of wheeling a camera, I was standing in the ocean neck deep ready to swim out and catch my boy if he got swept up by a strong current. Never fear, he is fantastic and although my mama instincts were screaming loudly that 6 year old's probably shouldn't be in the middle of the ocean by themselves, I let him go. That just reconfirms that on our 10th birthday (OK, Buddy's, mine was 8 years ago!) we will become the newest members of the Waikoloa Canoe Club! Yep, he is just that awesome!

I'm so glad I finally found a water sport that he likes (insert sarcastic voice here)!

Poor guy, just seems to have such a miserable time in the ocean!
So all in all a super fantastic, paddling through, day!

Political Aspirations....

So with new candidates coming out of the woodwork lately for the upcoming 2012 Presidential Election, I would like to make an important announcement....Buddy will be running for Governor of Hawaii in approximately 2034. Yep, he made his official announcement while in a conference with his mother, body surfing in Kua Bay. The primary agenda of his governorship will be "to make every day 4th of July so we can set off fireworks". Well, at least he has a goal in mind. I think he'll do quite well, he looks pretty official...

I know I'll be voting for him, now to decide whether to post these pictures now, or wait for them to mysteriously appear as blackmail when the mud slinging campaign hits? Eh, I'll do it now, I think they only help his party's agenda...

He's definitely got my vote!
So all in all a super fantastic, backing Buddy, day!
Remember, a vote for Buddy is a vote for fun!

Hippy or hippie?

Today we went to hike the Malma Trail and hang out at Hololholokai Beach Park. It was only after that I realized that one of us was a little "hippie"....

Tomorrow maybe we'll aim to be a little army?
So all in all a super fantastic, modeling day!

Everything coming out Rainbows?

For Kevin's first official day here, we took him back to Kaumana Caves for some exploring. I felt very prepared, lots of flashlights, lots of batteries lots of food, lots of goof balling...

I'm pretty sure I wasn't prepared to get lost in one of the numerous offshoots of the cave and start crying with the fear of being lost in a cave forever. Nope wasn't me. When we finally made our way out, Buddy remarked that I could get sad really quick (seriously, I have a few phobias...drowning, burning and getting lost in a cave never to resurface). Thankfully I had my 3 men with me to make fun of me, which of course made me feel better about my impending doom.
Afterwards, we decided to go to Rainbow Falls...

Unfortunately someone made a fence so you couldn't get close towards the bottom. Thankfully, they didn't make a fence around the top....

Yes, those are my boys at the top of Rainbow Falls, and here is my boy, the ever crowd pleaser pretending to fall off of Rainbow Falls just for your viewing pleasure...

Here is my crowd pleaser in the river running to the falls...

By the way, flip flops are not the best hiking shoes to wear in, on, or around a 100 foot drop off waterfall, but maybe that's just me!
So all in all a super fantastic, making our way, day!

Apprehensive?...

We picked up Kevin today, since Buddy likes being a little brother so much, he was taking a test drive with being an older brother....

Let's just say it went smashingly. I mean wouldn't you want this kid to be your older brother?...

So Independence Day was a blast and we are so lucky to live in the Land of the Free!
All in all a super fantastic, God bless the USA, day!

Caught in the act...

This morning I caught Buddy playing in the gloop....

I mean, I really caught him playing in the gloop....

Then I caught him making a midnight snack ( I was actually excited about this one, someone has become lazy around this house and I think it might be me)...

Then I caught him doing this right in front of my face right after I laid down to go to sleep tonight...

After he showed me his tooth, I asked him if he was going to leave it under the pillow for the tooth fairy. The mature boy he is, he laughed then told me that there was no tooth fairy and that I was more than welcome (more or less told) to leave the obligatory letter and toy (both have been done by the way). Hmmmmph, seems like someone's growing up way too fast!
So all in all a super fantastic, mature, day!

Growning up and the trip to Maui...

Here's Buddy with his fancy pink float this morning, all smiles, ready for some action...

Unfortunately, I think we saw a little too much action. Our tube drifted quickly away and I like to believe it has landed safely on the beach in Maui for another kid to play with. Maybe we could do a community share with Maui for all of our beach toys?
Anyway, Buddy was sad, thankfully nothing a little burying wouldn't cure...

Of course when you bury something you have to water it to make it grow, I grew me one of these...

Must be all that good Hawaii sunshine!
So all in all a super fantastic, playing and loving it, day!
