Appleade?

So I know that when life hands you lemons you're suppose to make lemonade....but what the heck do you do when life hands you apples? Thank goodness one of us here knows the answers to life's unsolved mysteries...

Yeah, I'll just pretend I'm totally awesome, and not let you in on the secret of what snack we were trying to make. Let's just say culinary skills are not my foray, but Buddy still loves me which I'll take any day over mad kitchen skills!
In other news, I volunteered at Buddy's school for the book fair. Hmmmm, a book fair on an island without any book stores (I'm not lying) had me right in the middle of my own little heaven. Now that we are the owners of the complete series of "Captain Underpants" Buddy is in heaven too!

Now a word from my sponsor...

Please support my boy and his pack for all the fantastic things that they do! Even though we live in Hawaii you can order online to have the treat mailed right to your doorstep and the proceeds still go to the Aloha Pack 4120!
OK, now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Lately we've gotten into light writing. We're pretty awesome, just sayin'...

Tonight we amped it up a bit and did some light writing with our bikes...
I would like to take full credit for the awesomeness, but really people if it looks cool and technology is involved, you can be rest assured that Shane is the mastermind behind it...

So all and all a super fantastic, lighting it up, day!

Condensation and the attack of the Third Eye...

Yesterday Buddy and I had plans for a jam packed day!!! I'm assuming that he was just trying to help me space things out a bit when he woke me up at 6am to get ready for school. First up was a field trip to Kalopa State Park where I got to be a chaperon. When his teacher asked him who he wanted to be in his group, half of the class ended up standing in my line. Thank goodness there were 4 other parents to divvy the kids out to because my 3 were already a handful. Even in the rain, we walked the trail at a snails pace so we could check out every...single...thing on the ground. Ummmm, yeah, there's a lot of ground...

Here's the group of rebel rousers... don't miss the girl with her arm around the Budster (she's the one he said was his BFF, also she made it on Buddy's top 2 list)...

Next up in our jam packed day was heading up to Honaka'a for some fantastic camping. We had a campfire, roasted marshmellows, hung out with other kids, and then headed into our tent to get some zzzzzz's. Then the heavens opened up and it rained and rained and rained and....well you get the point. Buddy was snoring nicely and slept until 5:30, while I was, of course, up all night and frequently checking that we were still keeping dry on the inside (we did although not many others faired so well). When he woke up, he asked if he could go out of the tent and play with the other kids. Somehow that kid missed that it was raining cats and dogs outside our thin protective layer, or maybe he just didn't care, oh wait, I think I know the answer to that one. Last night, they did a skit at the campfire. Buddy was the only Tiger cub to go on the campout, and when it was their turn to do the skit, Buddy said he was nervous and didn't want to go. At least he was refusing until 2 of the older boys offered to hold his hand and let him stand between them. Yay those boys...

They're good stuff!
Afterwards we seperated into new dens depending on our age and decided to have some good ole' fashioned fun...

One bee sting, 4 aching feet and 5 loads of laundry (seriously I don't know how that happened, really it was just overnight), we have returned home. Now if we could get rid of this thing that's been lurking around trying to scare everyone!

So all in all a super fantastically fun day!

Show stopping....

Due to my amazing mama skills, or lack thereof, and my pure desire to escape getting wrangled into Buddy's newest episode of play that involves the usual gang of cowboys, legos, military personnel and dive bombers, we decided to make movies with a few glow sticks that we bought for the camp out on Friday...

Yep, they work, good thing we're such awesome people to check out the glow sticks for the cubs! They'll be thanking us later I'm sure!
So all in all a super fantastic, can't wait till Friday, day!

LOL...

Today Buddy started filling out his invitations for his birthday party. Yes, we are inviting way too many kids and yes I'm already slightly freaked out! But Buddy's really excited so I'll just go with it. Anyway, while he was putting the names of his classmates on his envelopes, he gave me and Shane a rundown on the kid's personality and whether they were a good kid or not...plus a little bit more if the answer was not (you do not want me to get started on who is a tattler and who kicks under the desk when the teacher isn't looking). When Buddy got to a girl named Jasmine, he smiled and said, "she's my BFF". Ummm, since when did my kid start talking in text lingo? Last I heard he was in first grade!
In other news, Buddy and I are gearing up for our campout with the Cub Scouts on Friday, which entails making sure our tent is in working condition. Seems to be working and has two kids already installed, what a bonus...

So all in all a super fantastic, OMG LOL ROFL (mom if you need translation call me), day!

Last Day Off...

I think we had a pretty good last day off. Of course it wouldn't be complete without our "social hour" aka Cub Scouts tonight. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the social hour, which I have to admit kinda rocked. I'm sure Buddy is more than excited to go back to school...Ummm, yea...
So all in all a super fantastic playing day!

Sightseeing...

Buddy got a new haircut , or should I say shave cut. It got us quite a few looks while we were strolling around a resort today. It even earned us a seat right next to some dolphins. At first I thought the lady that gave up her seat was just giving it to Buddy cause he's a cute kid (look at him, I'd give him my seat)...

A few stares into it though, I realized that she thought my son was suffering from a terminal illness. Oh well, at least we saw some dolphins, and compliments of this thing...

Buddy saw a little bit more (or a lot bit more, seems he got a little more interested in the hotel patrons than the ocean).
So all in all a super fantastic, seeing, day!

The Weather Man with a case of the hairballs...

This morning the boy woke up wanting to do "experiments". Well actually he said spearmint, but I'm pretty sure he didn't mean he wanted to eat a bunch of gum to freshen his breath, or, maybe he did and we wasted the day by making tons of different prototype paratroopers...

Thank goodness Buddy is well on his way to becoming a meteorologist, who knew his finger was so fancy (Let me assure you I did)!

This picture is just a bonus to show you the nice blue sky and lack of snow on the ground (I'm only laughing about the snow in Utah on the inside)...

After our "spearmint"ing with the paratroopers, we discovered that you could blow bubbles with flubber...

Who said surfing the web was a big waste of time?
After all our awesome fun, Buddy disappeared for a while with Shane. When he reappeared he had a lovely present for me...

If you think it looks like a disgusting hairball, you would be absolutely right!
Ahhh, the things we do to get our kids to cut their hair...

Of course, once again I'll interject that it were up to me, Buddy would grow out long locks in a cute little surfer do. But that's just me and my imagination, truly his horrid cowlicks (compliments of me) would make him just look silly, and that just wouldn't do!
So all in all a super fantastic, cutting it, day!
