The pedal to the metal....

So Buddy decided that since I'm pretty much done (hopefully forever) with using the sewing machine that's been occupying out kitchen counter for over a week now, that he should have a turn "driving it"....
Jeepers, if I had known that the gas pedal was so exciting, I would have had him help me and finished my project 6 days earlier! Now I mustache' you a question...
Is it just me, or is everything a million times funnier with a mustache?
No, seriously! In other news, it's Mother's Day, yay, I have the best mom in the universe!!!
I'm just not sure about the "bald headed geek" (inside family joke) that keeps appearing in all my pictures of her! Having me was the best decision you ever had mom, and I don't regret it a second, now my brother John on the other hand (just kidding)! Thanks mom for giving me life, a sense of compassion (no really I'm compassionate , at least when I'm at work and getting paid to be), making me a good listener....possibly by default since you like to talk so much, and making me feel like I was your favorite (no worries mom, I'll keep it a secret between you and me that I really am the favorite, who could blame you?)! So all in all, a super fantastic mom's day!

Greetings...

I was going to blog about Buddy having a fantastic play date today, that included some "manly" hammering...
Or perhaps tell you how much I think Andrew (far left), must have really enjoyed his drink...
But then I thought, what fun would there be in all that when I can do this....
and embarrass my son and spouse in one fail swoop? They were good sports about it all though, all I had to do was tell Buddy I always wanted a daughter so he complied for about 3.2miliseconds for the picture and Shane, well he forgot about Mother's Day, so he's humoring me (not that I wasn't making 5 of those aprons specifically for Mother's Day for the past week, and he's been watching me or anything). So all in all, it's good to have a camera ready for blackmail purposes, day!

There's an ocean out there you know....

I think there is something wrong with this picture....
Nope, it's not the fact that Buddy has a friend over and they aren't even playing together in the picture...
It's the fact that even though we live 5 miles away from the ocean, Buddy feels the need to fish in his fishbowl with his own concocted fishing pole. Boys! They're kind of silly. So all in all a super fantastic, slumber party, day!

Bring back that lovin' feeling....

Today we went out to a restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day (don't judge us, it's less crowded, cheaper and it's a possibility that Shane or I will be working). Anyway, while we were there, there were some kids playing on the green of the nearby golf course. One of the kids playing happened to be a little girl that Buddy has played with once before. Let's just say that that experience was a less than pleasant one and if he sees her at school he tries to high tail it out of there before she spots him. Well, today he, being the playing kind of kid he is, braved the storm and went to go ask her if he could play. Not only was the answer yes, but they played and played and played and then when it was time to go home she gave him this....
He told me he wasn't going to throw it away, even if it did have pink, because she is "kinda cute". Of course when I reminded him of Jasmine, he said he loved Jasmine more. Then when I reminded him of Utah Hemi he said " I still love her, but it's been so long that I don't remember our kiss anymore". That must have been some kiss to have lasted thus far! When I told him that I already talked to Hemi's mom and we were going to be seeing her when we go to Utah next month, he said he was excited to "get back that lovin' feeling". Hmmmm, perhaps he'll grow up to be a songwriter with lines like that! So all in all a super fantastic, giving love a second chance, day!

Sitting, and not at the dock of the bay...

Today Buddy did a lot of sitting around. First he had some friends come over and they sat around and made a movie that included some Lego men zip lining...
Then another friend came over and Buddy sat around some more, playing in hot lava...
Well, at least that's what they were pretending it was! The same friend brought over some fish and shared with Buddy....
So now Buddy can sit and stare at them all day! OK, only in my exhausted dreams will that really happen, but Buddy is super excited about them and keeps sneaking out of bed at this very moment with a list of things to put in the fish bowl to decorate it! But I have to admit, one of the best sitting things from today was this...
Yep, that's the cute neighbor kid. I think everyone is a little baby hungry around here, Shane even played with her for a bit. I also have a sneaking suspicion that Buddy always skips Primary to go to my classes so he can hang out and "babysit" (that's what he calls it, annoy is probably what their mother's would call it) the kids crawling around the classroom! So all in all a sitting around, and loving it, day!

Why you should never trust a husband (or at least mine).....

This morning I asked Shane to take a quick picture of the shark treats I made for Buddy's snack day at school and this is what I got....
(Seriously I spent a long time on them, and they were cute and you can't even tell from this picture!) The other day I asked him to help dry the kids off after our stent at the pool, and this was his idea of helping...
(I could have done that!) Then I asked him to go and pick up the kids and give them a ride home from school...
(Ummmm, I have no words) To end it all off, I asked him for a little bit of his chocolate pastry....
Lesson learned I guess. So all in all a super fantastically, not trusting my husband, day!

Strategies...

Buddy has some friends over to spend the night tonight. When I met up with him at lunchtime, he told me he was planning a water balloon fight for when they got there. He even planned that eventually he was going end up with the garden hose and win. Hmmmm, why can't everything be so well planned? I guess they could be with Buddy at the helm. In other news, we've created our "End of school year Party" invitations...
I would like to pretend I'm creative with that picture, but I totally stole the idea from my nemesis Pintrest! Dang Pintrest giving me party ideas, visiting teaching ideas, books to read,etc...Jeepers, that site is good for nothing but taking away all the free time I had just sitting around idly and staring at the wall waiting for Buddy to come home from school (this is actually a joke, although Shane frequently wonders what I do all day....he thinks we have a cleaning genie that does his dishes and laundry). Anyway, the party ought to be an easy blast, we've decided on a whole bunch of sidewalk chalk, followed by a whole bunch of water balloons, of course mixed in with a bunch of lemonade and popsicles, perhaps with a few other games here and there! So all in all a super fantastic, planning it out, day!
