Cultured?

I'm watching a French subtitled movie with Buddy right now. Who knew he was so cultured? Of course the movie is claymation and is hilarious, even if you don't read the subtitles....Seriously a piano playing horse and a house packed full of pigs...fantastic! Actually, more importantly,  who know the French were so funny? In other news of our newly cultured ways, the boys and I went to go explore around our neck of the woods and found this....

It looks like there was a big fire there once upon a time and quite a few buildings were burnt down and never rebuilt. According to my extremely cultured son, someone is a "Dumbo" for making the fire. Believe me he didn't want to pose with a happy face to make a statement to all you blog readers so that you know he wasn't happy about the "Dumbos". So there you have it, Smokey Bear is officially out of a job  and Buddy will be the new spokesman to make sure that we know only "Dumbos" make fires!   I just hate to tell my boy that Mother Nature could perhaps be the biggest Dumbo of them all! So all in all a super fantastic, not a Dumbo, day!

You're so vain...

While we were in Utah I let Buddy grow out his lovely golden locks......which really ended up looking like a Shaggy Doo! Anyway, once we got home Shane (who has a case of hair envy) immediately insisted upon a haircut! Buddy was very anxious that we would cut "his favorite spot of hair" and would only consent to a haircut if we assured that "spot"s safety. Hmmmm, who knew he had a favorite spot of hair? Not me, although I'm pretty sure if you asked Shane or my dad their favorite spot would be their entire head! His favorite spot is right along the cowlick on his left side so he can twirl it! Then today while we were at a restaurant he took my iPhone and began taking pictures of his beloved locks....

He took about 20 pictures of his hair, perhaps he's knows his genetic predisposition to loose it all in about 17 years so he's making lasting memories? Truly I wonder about this boy sometimes....
and then I wonder why boys think it's funny to take a picture to see how fat they can look?
So all in all a super fantastic, hair today, day!

The entertaining of Buddy.....

Buddy woke up this morning and started watching TV. Not our finest moment(s), I'd like to tell you how long I let him stare aimlessly at Johnny Test episode after episode, after episode, but I'm afraid of being judged (mostly by myself). Thank goodness Buddy has a  man (really boy) made obstacle course in the front yard....

Is it odd that I'd rather him break an arm than watch TV, and actually told him so? Nah, I think it's just a good mothering skills, after all, I have to get him in condition for competing in the Olympics of 2020. Did I mention our Olympic sized swimming pool on the lanai?
Just kidding, the Olympics wished they had a swimming pool as awesome as ours (the giraffe blows water out of its nose)! So all in all a super fantastic, entertaining,  day!

Hitchin' a ride....

I think Buddy was sadly missing Utah today, he even tried to recreate his own rodeo....

Who knew that Utah had cooler rides than Hawaii.....Errrr, wait a minute, I totally take that back.....
Hawaii wins hands down......as if it were really a competition! In other news, it appears Buddy may have forgotten how to boogie board, thank goodness there was a spare guy at the beach to just pull him. I guess we'll have to be forced to go to the beach more this summer (what a downer) to refresh his memory. So all in all a super fantastic, kinda missing the peeps in Utah but not the state, day!

The big hurrah.....

Buddy and I are heading home bright and early in the morning (well, OK our flight leaves at noon, but it's still bright), so we had to get one last hurrah in. A hurrah of talking Papaw into whipping out the ladder for an unsupervised roof top visit...
Then of course our final hurrah with some of the cousins....
Not that this was today, but it's a cute picture, and it's cousins....so I think it belongs...
Hurrah! I believe Buddy has had the best summer of the universe and has not uttered the words "I'm bored" once since we arrived! I'm afraid when we arrive home, Hawaii won't be so cool and exciting anymore, and that'll be just plain weird! Perhaps we'll have to have a few cousins shipped express mail to us? I think that's a fine plan!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, not quite ready to go, day!

The responsible one....

Today I asked Buddy if he wanted to go to Lagoon (think rinky dink amusement park). His answer was a resounding yes..... that is after he finished mowing the grass...

He loves cutting grass almost as  much as cutting the cheese, perhaps I should rent him out.....for the grass part, pretty sure no one will pay for his farting abilities! Buddy is now tall enough to ride most of the scary rides, somehow this ride was the one he kept wanting to go on....
Not sure what the draw is to that one, other than you're in it without an adult and there are so many trees that you're not supervised for most of the ride. Oh.....now I know why he hopped in with that cute girl instead of waiting for his own wheels. I'm thinking the teenage years are quickly approaching. On our way out we had to stop and get some amusement park treats....
Now Buddy is laying in the bed and bellyaching that he has a bellyache from too much candy! Seriously, someone really needs to give his mom a stern talking to....and perhaps some pamphlets on childhood obesity! So all in all a super fantastic, well, until the tummy ache, day!

Active....

Today we went with Buddy's Seattle cousins to Seven Peaks for 7 fun filled hours. Seriously who knew that an inflatable tube could be so exciting?
As if standing in long lines wasn't exciting enough, Seven Peaks even has slides! Imagine that! At one point the grown ups were so tired, we sent the kids into the lazy river by themselves for a while. Errrrm, let me rephrase that, we were helping our children expand their growing values of independence (that sounds way better doesn't it). So all in all a super fantastic, slipping and sliding, day!
