We resolutely resolve to resolve our resolutions! How's that for you! Today we hung out at my parents house. Seriously, why not, Shane is working his last week in the Grand Canyon, I'm working a bit in between, it's snowing, and I never say no to free food! Buddy has expanded his horizons and is now declaring he will not only be an engineer, but also a boat captain. Today was filled with making as many boats as possible from our supply of Lego's and test them in the water. Of course no simple water would do, only shark infested (or should I say goldfish infested) waters sufficed. So since it's New Years Eve I'll reflect on the past year. Buddy has grown like a weed and reading well and doing phenomenally in math. He's getting funnier every day, but then again looks aren't everything. Work for me is still work and there is nothing I would love more than to be a stay at home mom, but I absolutely think I work with the most amazing people ever (by the way, we totally save lives and rock at it)! So since I haven't got my camera to commemorate the occasion with a goofball picture of my boy, I scanned my iPhone for old pictures. I wanted to use the picture of Buddy's tookas with a red ring around his derriere from sitting way too long on the toilet, but my mother was mortified. I'll save the mortification for a later date, so I'll include this picture that has a couple of cute guys to ring in the new year!
All in all a very super fantastic year, looking forward to the next one being very warm!

Pictorial..
Every once in a while you find a picture that captures the essence of pure love and beauty. Let me assure you, this is not it!
Well, at least it's good for a laugh (or maybe it's just me)!
However we have had a swell time with one of the cousins, doing something that has become more and more of a family past time!
Ever since Christmas we have been playing with our guns non-stop. Hmmm, who knew Santa condones violence. Makes you wonder about the working conditions at the elves workshop!
All in all a super fantastic, playing the "poor only child" card to talk cousins into coming over to play, day!

Ruldolph (and the pirates) save Christmas...
Merry Christmas everyone! Buddy finally went to sleep at 2 am this morning and then woke up at 0638(yep, I looked) to see if Santa had arrived. Unfortunately, Santa had, so Shane and I begrudgingly got out of bed to open presents. Thankfully Santa knew Buddy had been good this year and gave him everything he wanted, which thankfully bought us a few more hours of sleep while he played by himself(a first in Buddy's history of life). I must have been especially good since I actually got presents this year instead of the usual pregnancy test(s). It was that, or Santa didn't want me to cry-I'll go with the good part! We are so blessed to have Buddy in our lives, he definitely brings joy to my world, maybe not peace, but lots and lots of joy!
So all in all, a very super fantastically joyful day!

The Magic of Christmas....
I bet you didn't know that Buddy assisted with the Magic of Christmas this year. Let's just put it plainly, he is the ham in my ham and cheese sandwich! Today while we were having a Breeding party (my maiden name, not a twisted x-rated, pervy thing) he received quite the present. I do believe he loved it, since he immediately began playing with it and now has only stopped because it's bedtime and Santa is watching him!
(This ball evidently turns into a ball, powerful magic I say!)
Yes, he can even pull a rabbit out of his hat. If you ask nicely, or even if you don't want him to, he will show you his tricks over and over and over (you get the point) again!
All in all a super fantastically magical day!

Island Style...
We are starting to work on getting into the island way of thinking and helping Buddy have a smoother transition for our impending move to Hawaii...
Thank goodness Shane and I have already experienced island living so we won't have to suffer through the "chillaxin" stage too much. We are very excited to move, Buddy already has placed his order for an ocean kayak and a surf board. Of course when we told him that Jerry couldn't come with us he decided that maybe we shouldn't move after all. Makes me rethink the whole resuscitation of the rat that we did the other day! Oh well, maybe we'll send her over on the inflatable raft from the garage that Buddy insists we take for a mode of transportation when we live on the island (if you saw the raft you would be think Buddy is full of silly talk, besides we took it out for a spin on the lake next to our house and sprung a leak when we were playing bumper boats with a metal boat(moral of the story don't play bumper boats with metal when you are made of plastic)). So here is the update, Shane has been based in Hilo, Hawaii. He starts January 24th, Buddy and I will hang in Utah for a little bit while Shane gets things settled and then Buddy and I will be Hawaiians (just that simple). We had a few choices for which island we were going to be placed, Buddy got his pick-he wanted to live next to a volcano (of course, he's a boy and not a mom)!

Stealing the show...
Today was Buddy's Christmas program for school. I laughed, I cried and then I laughed and cried some more. I know I'm biased, but that kid is a hoot! He did a fantastic job in his class skit as Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (this version, the abominable snow man just had a tooth ache and is actually really nice)...
There was lots of singing...
But that's not all! 3 days ago when I was picking Buddy up from school his teacher told me that while they were practicing their program he began dancing to another class's song. That class liked his choreography so much he was asked to be their "backup" dancer. Seriously, could he not be more hilarious. I felt bad for the kids in that class because the audience loved his performance (at least that was my perspective, once again, I'm totally not biased). I laughed so hard I cried, and when I took my eyes off him for a second to look around, everyone else was doing the same thing, it was utterly fantastic! Enjoy a tiny snippet of his slick moves (yep that's him on the far right)...
So all in all a very super, too bad we're so shy, fantastic day!!!

Mechanics...
Buddy put some work in on our family owned Lamborghini. Yes, we are quite fancy at the Beeder household, thank you for noticing!
After he put his time in at the shop, I had him take a peek at our hot air balloons that just wouldn't get off the ground. Thank goodness Buddy is quite the thinker and quickly relieved that problem...
So all in all a super fantastic, using our noggins, day!

Is it bulges or barges?....
Along with pirates, and Sonic the Hedgehog, Buddy has now added boats to go along with his new found obsessions. When I went to the library this week, I asked him what he wanted to learn about (it's a thing we do, he tells me his interest for the week and I use my Dewey decimal skills!) This week it's boats, every night he's been asking me to read not the light-hearted kids books about boats, no that wouldn't do, for Buddy it's one of the 5 encyclopedias with everything you would ever want to know (or not know) about boats, submarines or submersibles. I, of course am a bad mom and refuse to read it for a bedtime story, opting for one of the shorter "kiddie" books. Of course when we leave his room he hops right up and reads the encyclopedia ones (we actually watched him on a hidden camera last night doing just that, thank you iPhone I love you more and more every day). One of the books actually had some experiments, and if you know us, we love experiments, so using some recycled supplies (and my mom's hot glue gun), voila, a submarine, a ferry boat and a jet ski...
In a pinch, the submarine makes a fantastic shower...
And the jet ski is a real head popper...
Really...
So all in all a super fantastic, boaty kind of day!
By the way, I need to make an addendum to my previous post about Buddy being the lead in the play, I thought they were just doing songs, nope full on play and he has 18 lines (yep, I counted). We won't tell Buddy about my downplaying him starring in a play (he even called his cousins, including the one he says he doesn't like because he says he's sloppy(someone's OCD is showing) to invite him to sit in the front row)!

Shiny noses...
Guess who has the lead in the school play(I'm using this term loosely, his teachers say he leads the classes in and starts some songs)? I'm sure you also can't guess which character he will be playing?
After school we went shopping to pick up some stuff for his costume. While we were at the store he gave the balloon he was playing with to a little girl. What a sweetheart, right? At least that's what I thought until he told me his plan was to give out one balloon a day until Christmas and then Santa was sure to know what a great boy he is! (Which of course would result in the mother load of presents!)
All in all a super fantastic, nose shining brightly, day!

Called off...
This morning I was placed on call for work, which I gladly accepted since I could spend the whole day with a certain someone special!
I believe the day was spent wisely, creatively crafting something near and dear to our hearts, poo shaped blobbers. Really you should have seen the elephant poo Buddy created, a true work of art!
All in all a super fantastic, pretending I'm a stay at home mom, day!

Shipwrecked...
Today Buddy and I were shipwrecked after our submarine sprang a leak...
Thank goodness we were prepared and swam safely to the couch. And thank goodness Buddy had enough presence of mind after that to call 911, and tell them that we were stranded on the couch and needed not only an airplane, but they should send a helicopter too! After our phone call, we took the rescue boat back to SLC (who knew you could reach it by boat?). Then we arrived at our tourist destination! The brochure said dress appropriately, I think we're spot on!
All in all a calling 911, but thankfully not getting to hit send before the phone gets turned off, super fantastically fun day!

Togetherness...
The following pictures need a warning. Possibly a warning that maybe Shane and I aren't doing the bang up job bringing up Buddy we thought we were, or perhaps he was taking the bang up job too literally? Buddy did this during school today, and yes, I am very embarrassed. But that's why you have kids, right, to make sure you're always on your toes and slightly afraid to look the teacher in the eye the next day?
Yep, that's right, my sweet innocent boy associates our family fun time with shooting. Wow, my deep south roots are showing!
Now to show some togetherness not based on violence...
All in all a super fantastic, not shooting, day!

Protection!
You can never wear enough protection!
Happy Thanksgiving! Buddy put up my parents Christmas decorations while I was at work today. To end the day, he played outside in the freezing cold with a wooden sled he found (shhh, don't tell my mom), now he has dawned on his sledding helmet and is trying on all of my mother's jewelry. He looks quite fetching I must say. So now I will bore you with my thankful list.
1. Buddy, cause he's the coolest kid I know
2. Shane, cause seriously I don't know that many husbands that will go out at 2am in the freezing cold to grab a box of tampons for such a cranky wife.
3. My parents, cause they rock!
4. My sister and her enormous family, without them we'd be bored!
5. My job, as much as I hate to be away from my family it has fed us, sheltered us and paid for someone to learn to fly!
OK, there is tons more, but there is a six year old needing accessorizing!
All in all a super fantastic, thankful, day!

Blizzard....
It's difficult to look cute when wind and snow is whipping you all over the place, yet you insist on playing in a blizzard! In other news I finished putting up the rest of the Christmas stuff today (OK, there wasn't much to put up since my tree has been up since October, but I'm not telling anyone that)! So all day long Buddy keeps sticking his hands down his stocking, just in case Santa is on an installment plan this year I guess?
All in all a super fantastic, I am so glad I didn't have to work and drive in that snow, day!

Snow days....
So what do you do after the first huge snowfall of the season? Well, if you're me, you curse the skies and wonder why you still live in Utah! If you're Buddy you whip out your birthday present and go for a ride, or a hundred, or until your mother gets carpal tunnel from the repetitive pulling of the coolest sleigh ever up the mountainside!
Buddy even talked an entire family next to us to race him, not just once but continually for an hour (he's definitely got some people skills)! We are proud to announce that not only is his sled sleek and shiny, it's fast too, he won all the races but one when he crashed overboard! My boy, destined for speed!
All in all a super fantastic, hanging with my boy, day.

Bullseye....
Buddy needed a haircut today (according to Shane, I'm still living under false hopes that underneath the shaggy, calicked strands there is some lovely, golden, curly hair). When notified of his impending appointment for the cut, he requested a stylish do, namely this...
I do believe he is quite the trendsetter, just last week the mother of twin boys in his class told me they specifically requested from the barber "The Buddy Cut".
In other news Buddy told me he missed his old school. His old school was a nasty little dump that I put him in for a couple of hours every other day for socialization (it lasted 2 months before he came home with some fantastic manners, such as "I can see your yuck" when someone was chewing with their mouth open, and "I look fat", seriously!). He was quickly pulled from there and then we found our heavenly home at our Montessori. When I interrogated him (because I couldn't believe it, I stayed a couple of times and it was truly a cow herding program), he relented and told me that he just missed the rice table. So today we converted our 10 pound bag of rice that has been sitting around for a ridiculously long time into a wonderful world of play. Buddy is quite happy and I am happy that hopefully we will never need to mention the former school of shame!
So for now a very super fantastic, trend setting, day!

Walking the plank...
Someone has been wearing his pirate hat and eye patch nonstop since we went to Pirate Island on Friday. That certain someone has also been known to have lately taken up riding the front of the grocery cart, in said outfit, with sword raised and pirate talk escaping his lips. To feed this new obsession, some one's mother found the perfect sweater to complete the ensemble...
I know all you "landlubbers" are totally jealous, don't be too much, some one's mom is making him swab the poop deck tomorrow after school!
All in all a super fantastic, Argh me hearty's, day!

Gun slingers....
There seems to be a theme in the Beeder family...
I'm not sure if I should be proud or slightly afraid that Buddy had a 99% accuracy with his gun toteing skills. In other news Shane and I had a hot date night planned for my birthday since I had to work on the actual day of. Somehow the date night turned into a slumber party with two kids and a hotel with a hot tub in the room and an aquarium for the bathroom. Seriously, every time I went to the loo, I had little visions of this...
spying on me. Not very comforting. Afterwards we sparred with some pirates for dinner. Captain Buddy fought and won against this scallywag...
Thank goodness he's such a fine swordsman or we would have had to walk the plank instead of having supper!
All in all a super fantastic, gun slinging, sword fighting, book reading day!

The throwing of tantrums...
I signed Buddy up for a hip hop class. I was excited, he loves to dance and he's constantly shaking his groove thing. Buddy was excited and kept preparing for his "hopscotch" class. I believe he may have done better at with a hopscotch class. He kept running to the side away from his class to come tell me how miserable he was. According to him, he "just likes to dance, not learn how other people dance". My boy, wise beyond his years. Here's a picture from the most recent tantrum which began after he declared that he would not go to bed until he had played "enough", of course with him, there is never enough playing...

Hallmark moments...
Today is my 38th birthday, I'm still not sure if I'm sad about it or not (other than the fact that my eggs are rotting, and every day I feel that I'm just getting one step closer to menopause). Unfortunately I had to work, fortunately I work with a bunch of super fantastic people! When I returned home I had a little something waiting on the table for me...
I do believe that private school tuition is totally paying off, seriously, Hallmark will be wanting to patent this card any second now!
Awww, my boy, such a poet at heart, don't ya think?
All in all a super fantastic, poopy?, day!

Hogging the stage...
Buddy came home with a mustache from school! He told me they put on a contest of impromptu plays with teams of 3 using the mustache as a prop (the winner got money to use in the school store). I'm sure you can't guess who won, and I'm sure you can't guess who had all the lines in the play except for introducing themselves (Buddy at least was gentlemanly enough to let the girls say their names- but only their first)! His play was about a mustache that turns into a fish, just what I needed to hear after a very draining day at work!
All in all a super fantastic, go donate blood and save a life, day!

Eat it...
So after baby sitting my sister's 7 kids last night I was feeling a little maternal and decided to make cookies...
Hmmm, however I guess I don't quite cut the maternal grade since Buddy and I decided that we should make this....
and then make Shane eat it! No worries, I used my maternal instincts and delivered it with milk!
All in all a super fantastic, motherly day!
