Mirror, mirror...

It's totally normal that Buddy insisted that he do his own makeup, right? Today at school, after lunch, they got to put on their costumes, a certain little someone was taking so long that his teacher had to go and check on him. She said she hadn't had that good of a laugh in a long time, there he was just applying his makeup (wait should I man up the terminology to face paint?)in the mirror.

I think effect achieved, at least if the effect was dirty army guy with goofy face!
I'll mark this Halloween as a total success (and not to rub it in or anything, but totally warm too, note someone even took off his shirt during the festivities).

Next year we're thinking Captain Underpants may be more fitting our environment (hopefully someone will still think Captain Underpants is awesome a year from now cause he has underwear...cha ching, costume done!)
So all in all, a super fantastic, smell my feet, day!

Not just another pretty face....

It's amazing what a girl can get away with in the world of Buddy..

Of course, in return she has to deal with this part of the world of Buddy...

Not sure which one of them got the short end of the stick on that one!
So all in all, a super fantastic, lovin' it, day!

Birthday Bash, did you hear that crash?

When you turn 7 there are several important things to remember. First, always stretch before your guests arrive to celebrate...

(You definitely want to be limber)
Next, you want to run as fast as you can, bonus points if you can get lift-off with Dumbo ears...

Sometimes taking some time out with a friend, can really make the day special...

Of course, you always want to remember to take time out for yourself, cause parties are really exhausting...

Although you don't want to discredit yourself from the big job of coaching from your resting spot...

It's almost as important as making sure your mother didn't buy those silly little relighting candles...

Like I said, silly mothers!

A lot of people forget the important jobs of licking the frosting of the cake decorations, and without completing that job, the trash can just might be a little bit heavier...

Lastly is the dreaded job of opening presents, it's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it...

After you've completed all your chores for the day, if you put on some face paint, you may just blend into this little boy heaven...

And that my friends is quite applause worthy...

So all in all a super fantastic, growing too fast, day!

Feet in a can...

I didn't even know I was serving canned feet for dinner.
So all in all a super fantastic, birthday bash of the universe in T-12 hours, day!

Dress Rehersal...

Ever wonder how to turn a bucket and pipe into a Tank (come on, you know you've googled it!)

Wonder no more...

I'm just wondering if those flip flops are standard issue?

So all in all a super fantastic, hup..2...3..4, day!

Sponsorship...

I think Buddy may have a new sponsor (at least you would think so with his new frequent love of posing with his newly made items emblazoned with the Lowe's logo)...

He would work for peanuts, but pirate ships are so much cooler!
So all in all a super fantastic, workin' it, day!

Fine....

Yesterday the boy and I had a parent-teacher conference, which I think would really make it a parent-teacher-student conference, but who am I to judge grammatics? Anyway, Buddy is at the top of the charts for everything except.....handwriting. The poor boy has been doomed from the get-go...Is this the part where I embarrassingly admit that when I worked for AirMed I was told by my nurse manager that I needed to print my name after my signature because it was that illegible? Nah, I'll just blame his father like I do for everything else! Anyway, back to the story, so the teacher was coming up with ways to improve his fine motor skills and suggested Lego's. Ummmm, seriously, we play with those everyday. If that's suppose to help, I think Buddy and I will shortly be accepting awards for most improved penmanship!
Today Buddy was sick so I kept him home with me so he wouldn't spread his cooties to everyone else, plus he has to rest up for his awesome birthday bash on Saturday! So while he was home we tried to work on our fine motor skills to make his teacher proud...

Well, at least we worked on skills, they just happened to be our goofy skills which I believe have been honed perfectly! Tomorrow we're working on our skills of tricking out our car to look like a tank for the Trunk O'Treat this weekend cause we're that awesome (and slightly obsessed with all things military).
So all in all a super fantastic, coughing it up, day!

Window Washer...

Do you see all the dirt on this cute kid's mug?

Side note, you really should have seen his feet! I guess there is downside to always wearing flip flops! Too bad I didn't snap a picture as Shane was running the boy to the bathroom for a shower after Buddy "watered our jungle" err....something like that!
So all in all a super fantastically clean (it is Sunday after all), day!

First time for everything...

Today was Buddy's first day ever of being babysat (do you still call it that when your kid is about to hit manhood any second?) by someone other than family. I think it went fantastically well. To reward him for his awesomeness, I asked him to lay out a bed of nails...

Tomorrow is another first, well for me, so I know not as exciting, I'm teaching a RS Lesson (how I survived 21 years of RS without doing one before is a mystery). I tried it out on Buddy and the neighbor girl, she's 5. They're a tough crowd, they told me they were bored right after I told them what the lesson was about. Hmmmm, hopefully tomorrow will fair better. Although, I wouldn't mind telling everyone they can go play with Legos.
So all in all a super fantastic day!

Thankful...

We haven't felt any more earthquakes today, and today Buddy is touting the awesomeness of the earthquake. It's amazing what you say when friends are around isn't it? I won't mention to his buds that he was curled in my arms for 30 minutes crying and afraid to go back in the house yesterday. Nope, today he is a man (at least until the next one hits).
So all in all a super fantastic, not feeling it day!

Perspective...

Today I was escorted into Buddy's classroom with several little hands over my eyes and on my legs, pushing me into the right direction. I believe this was the direction I was going to...

After school Buddy was doing school work in his room and I was doing mommy work in the living room (OK, I confess I was watching "Friends") when a huge earthquake hit. It's really hard to gauge how big it was, seeing how our house is on stilts I'm going to guess that most everything feels pretty big. The ceiling was shaking and it was actually hard to walk, once Buddy and I finally got outside, someone broke down and cried for a really long time. To cheer him up we went to a talent show at church and Buddy showed off his mad dance skills, it worked like a charm. We have been hit by 24 earthquakes now, patiently waiting for Mauna Kea to start erupting. No worries mom, we haven't really felt any since that first one and the lava should be so hot it should be a slow trickle instead of a ka-boom, although I will admit I hope it aims to the east when it blows, just sayin'.
So all in all a super fantastic, shaky, day!

Appleade?

So I know that when life hands you lemons you're suppose to make lemonade....but what the heck do you do when life hands you apples? Thank goodness one of us here knows the answers to life's unsolved mysteries...

Yeah, I'll just pretend I'm totally awesome, and not let you in on the secret of what snack we were trying to make. Let's just say culinary skills are not my foray, but Buddy still loves me which I'll take any day over mad kitchen skills!
In other news, I volunteered at Buddy's school for the book fair. Hmmmm, a book fair on an island without any book stores (I'm not lying) had me right in the middle of my own little heaven. Now that we are the owners of the complete series of "Captain Underpants" Buddy is in heaven too!

Now a word from my sponsor...
http://www.trails-end/estore/scouts/email_referral.jsp?id=17266040

Please support my boy and his pack for all the fantastic things that they do! Even though we live in Hawaii you can order online to have the treat mailed right to your doorstep and the proceeds still go to the Aloha Pack 4120!
OK, now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Lately we've gotten into light writing. We're pretty awesome, just sayin'...

Tonight we amped it up a bit and did some light writing with our bikes...
I would like to take full credit for the awesomeness, but really people if it looks cool and technology is involved, you can be rest assured that Shane is the mastermind behind it...

So all and all a super fantastic, lighting it up, day!

Condensation and the attack of the Third Eye...

Yesterday Buddy and I had plans for a jam packed day!!! I'm assuming that he was just trying to help me space things out a bit when he woke me up at 6am to get ready for school. First up was a field trip to Kalopa State Park where I got to be a chaperon. When his teacher asked him who he wanted to be in his group, half of the class ended up standing in my line. Thank goodness there were 4 other parents to divvy the kids out to because my 3 were already a handful. Even in the rain, we walked the trail at a snails pace so we could check out every...single...thing on the ground. Ummmm, yeah, there's a lot of ground...

Here's the group of rebel rousers... don't miss the girl with her arm around the Budster (she's the one he said was his BFF, also she made it on Buddy's top 2 list)...

Next up in our jam packed day was heading up to Honaka'a for some fantastic camping. We had a campfire, roasted marshmellows, hung out with other kids, and then headed into our tent to get some zzzzzz's. Then the heavens opened up and it rained and rained and rained and....well you get the point. Buddy was snoring nicely and slept until 5:30, while I was, of course, up all night and frequently checking that we were still keeping dry on the inside (we did although not many others faired so well). When he woke up, he asked if he could go out of the tent and play with the other kids. Somehow that kid missed that it was raining cats and dogs outside our thin protective layer, or maybe he just didn't care, oh wait, I think I know the answer to that one. Last night, they did a skit at the campfire. Buddy was the only Tiger cub to go on the campout, and when it was their turn to do the skit, Buddy said he was nervous and didn't want to go. At least he was refusing until 2 of the older boys offered to hold his hand and let him stand between them. Yay those boys...

They're good stuff!
Afterwards we seperated into new dens depending on our age and decided to have some good ole' fashioned fun...

One bee sting, 4 aching feet and 5 loads of laundry (seriously I don't know how that happened, really it was just overnight), we have returned home. Now if we could get rid of this thing that's been lurking around trying to scare everyone!

So all in all a super fantastically fun day!
