So how do you get your 6 year old to go to school the very first day in a whole new area, where he doesn't know a soul and is crying about being scared? Well, since I'm a Mother of the Year nominee, let me tell you! You bribe him and reassure him that everyone is scared and nervous on their first day and then bribe him some more that he's going to have a fantastic present waiting for him when he gets home. Maybe before you do the bribing you should check out the one store within a 40 mile radius, or you may end up with this....
Am I proud? Not at all. Is he happy? Completely! Of course he did fantastic and said he had a good day. One kid came up to tell us that Buddy was a model of good behavior today (yeah, just wait till tomorrow kid). Several kids were rubbing his newly polished head while they were heading out the door. It's a win-win, especially when your father is in the NRA, oh, actually that's not a joke, oh well! So tomorrow we can rinse and repeat, except now we're going to start walking to school because someone wants to do the walk all on their own like a big boy! Of course someone's mother is having a heart attack by that request and will now be placing a homing device on their child before he heads out the door in the morning (as well as holding his hand for as long as he will possibly let me-I'm hoping I have at least 5 more years on that one).
So all in all a very super fantastic, first day(kinda) of school day!
