Buddy is trying his hardest to be one of the elite Blue Men in the Blue Man Group....
Eccentric goofy behavior...check! Fantastic rhythm.....check! Still waiting to see how many lollipops we have to lick till his skin turns blue! In other news, I sent my boy to the beach to pick up some sand for my Primary lesson this morning....
(it was about the wise man and the foolish man) When I was done with the lesson all the boys wanted a replica of the houses and tools that I had made for them. I promised them I'd get them all their own little copies next week and then they told me they couldn't do the experiment because they didn't have rocks or sand......Errrrm, is it just me, or did they forget they live on an island surrounded by sand and rocks? Those boys, always keeping me on my toes! So all in all a super fantastic, heading to work, day!

Vampires...
Buddy spent the night at his friend's house last night so I could celebrate my anniversary in style.....Errr, I have nothing else to add to that statement. Buddy told me he stayed awake ALL NIGHT! Since he decided to stay awake all night, I decided we should celebrate his new found vampireness and watch a movie this afternoon about something he could relate to. Of course with people he can relate with....
Those are the same cohorts to the staying awake shenanigans from last night. Of course the cohorts actually slept last night and then in the car on the way home they fell asleep again! Maybe I should call Robert Pattinson to see if he can roll with us and our apparent insomnia! In other news, Buddy was afraid to take his picture behind that zombie. It took a few girls to show him how it's done before he realized he wasn't going to be attacked. But then again, us girls are pretty awesome with showing boys how it's really done! So all in all a super fantastic, go to sleep, day!

Big spender.....
Shane took me to Hawaii for our tenth anniversary today! What a guy, he even sweet talked to me some more, and told me he'd take me to Hawaii for all my anniversaries, as long as we lived here. Like I said, he's a guy! So now time for some fantastic reminiscing....although not sure who it's fantastic for, me or you?
Ahhhh, 10 years, Shane had at least 20 more hairs on his head, and I had 20 pounds less on my body....let's pretend that's an even trade. Anyway, despite our differences, you gotta love a guy that will do this pose....
Just because you said so. Not only is Shane the best husband I've ever had (just a technicality that he's the only one too), but the best father that Buddy's ever had....
Not to brag, but I have the best husband ever....oh wait, that was a total brag, but it's my anniversary so I get a freebie day! So all in all a super fantastic.....
10th anniversary, day!

Early Riser....
This morning Buddy woke up way too early and decided it was time to finish constructing this....
The catapults are so awesome, that I even have one so we can have a war, which is exactly what we did as soon as he got home from school! Homework, shomework. Who needs to study in a classroom, after all, isn't the world suppose to be your classroom? Better yet, isn't the art of warring with your mother the top requirement to get into an Ivy League school? I thought so.... time well spent. So all in all a super fantastic, if every morning were this easy life would be grand, day!

Lessons....
Buddy officially started taking semi-private tennis lessons. He also went to school, went to cub scouts and built a catapult....pretty impressive for a 7 year old I think! I just won't tell him his mama dresses him funny (let's keep it our little secret)! So all in all a super fantastic, professionally awesome, day!

Like mother like son?
Today at soccer practice, the boys were scrimmaging and one of the boys got the wind knocked out of him. The boy sat on the sidelines and started to cry, I tried to comfort him since his mom wasn't there. Then, when practice was over and they were doing their huddle, Buddy scooted right up next to him and did this....
Which was the exact same back rub/consoling maneuver I was practicing just minutes before. Hmmmm, gee, I wonder where Buddy learned it? In other news, Buddy has two new friends, one was part of a science experiment and must have put the disguise on to sneak out of more experimentation at the hands of 25 mad scientists parading around as second graders...
The other, hopefully, will be consumed at lunch tomorrow, even if he is disguised as Sponge Bob Square Pants!
It's amazing how a few markers can give you a case of the giggles! So all in all a super fantastic, friendly, day!

Special?
For a long time I've regarding Buddy as being a "special spirit", I believe this picture may just prove it....
In other news, his "Annoying Orange" returned home in his lunch box with cracks in it from all the kids throwing it around. You would think I would have learned my lesson from last week where I decorated bananas for the whole week and every single one returned home battered and bruised....but with a fantastic story. I guess I'm just special too. Today we also went across the street while the neighbors were gone to pretend like we owned a dog for a while....
Buddy sat loving on Max while I tried to impress Buddy with my awesome bike tricks (he wasn't very impressed). Then we came home and played with Buddy's favorite playmates...
Buddy used to play with this band of ruffians pretty frequently, now he's growing up and playing with them less and less. Today he even locked his dad out of his room while we were playing, saying that he was embarrassed! Seriously, you can never be embarrassed by a group of hooligans that have awesome names like Grandpa Grumpy Pants, Mr Harry Butts and southern twangers Daisy Mae and Billy Bob, or can you? Next thing you know, Buddy will stick them all in a Lego house to die from toxic poisoning complements of Mr. Harry Butts explosive diarrhea problem!
Whoops, too late, thank goodness Buddy is fully certified to resuscitate plastic dolls! I'm so proud of my boy. So all in all a super fantastic, celebrating our awesomely special sides, day!

Television brain suckers.....
After a week of me decorating Buddy's school lunch bananas in anything funny I could think of, he had a special request from his classmates....
That's Annoying Orange, he has his own cartoon show (at least I think he does, that's what the Internet says anyway). It seems like the kids are watching too much TV these days because when I started teaching my Primary class today, they couldn't stop talking about how much I look like the mom from "Good Luck Charlie"...
She happens to be a nurse too(on TV which isn't as awesome as real life, but that's just me), the kids were convinced I'm leading a double life! In other news, my Primary class has never been more attentive. So all in all a super fantastic, needing to unplug, day!

Corporal punishment...
I sent Buddy to his room to go make his bed this morning, after a few minutes I heard some giggling and a "mom come see this"....
I asked him what was going through that crazy little brain of his and he told me that it was a reenactment of me and my sister "getting spanked by Papaw". I giggled and then told him if he wanted his reenactment to be correct, the dolls should have been touching their toes. Trust me, if you didn't want your spankings again, the hands always stayed on the toes! I'm glad Buddy has a warped sense of humor at my expense! I've probably told him the story about a patient farting in my face while placing a difficult catheter a thousand times, he still gets a kick out of it like he's never heard it before and then asks me to tell that story(and more) when his friends are gathered round. Sick kid, glad I have such a good influence over him! So all in all a super fantastic, touch your toes, day!

Fine....
I do believe I'm doing a bang up job of mothering today. Buddy joined me with exercising while watching an episode of "The Biggest Loser", then I told him he could stay up and watch a show about military weapons if he'd let me take a picture of him wearing this....
He was more than willing to comply and then proceeded to tell me I could take all the pictures I wanted. Hmmmm, I think I settled my deal too low....stinkin' kid! In other news, our house has had an explosion of Halloween awesomeness, I'm just not sure why it took us so long to bust the decorations, but it's all about the quantity not quality.....errrrrm! Now if our costumes that I preordered back in July would get here we'd be set (don't judge me, Halloween is the highlight of our year)! So all in all a super fantastic, maybe I'll do better tomorrow, day!

The Golden (slide) Rule.....
Today was Buddy's Family History Presentation at school. To say he was excited would be quite the understatement. As soon as he got out of bed he put on his "presentable presentation outfit"....
When I told him he should put on something presentable, I really did just mean a shirt that fit (hopefully, without stains on it), but he took it to a whole new level of AWESOME! Anyway, the kids were patiently waiting in the classroom for all the parents to come and walk through and visit them at their booth. I don't mean to brag, but I totally will, Buddy's was awesome, and most of the parents came to tell me how great they thought he did and how knowledgeable he was about his topic.....but then again when your project is on the topic of AWESOME, it's bound to be good! So here are some pictures from the "museum"....
That's his awesome slide ruler....just in case you didn't know, according to Buddy it's awesome because it can double things (I'm sure the mathematicians of the world would agree that's the most awesome feature of a slide ruler.....snicker, snicker)
Buddy explaining to a parent about the slide ruler, I tried to overhear him, but he's becoming a big boy and a teenager too quickly and was slightly frustrated at my hovering.....just wait till his first (and perhaps all ) date(s), then I'll show him hovering!
See it's so good, Buddy had to look at his own project again, he even got accolades and head rubs from his classmates!
It's always good to share your awesome feelings with your friend, well as long as your friend doesn't mind you smooshing them to death!
So all in all a super fantastic, fantastic feeling....

Presentations are for monkey's....
Buddy has a family history project due tomorrow. He has been VERY EXCITED about this project because it includes papaw, the military, airplanes and a slide ruler, seriously, you can't go wrong with any of those! On Thursday the class is hosting a museum for the parents to walk through and get taught by the kids at each booth, so I'll leave some of the pictures until then, but I will show you my absolute favorite part of the display.....cause it's hilarious and came straight from my little evil genius' mind....
Perhaps a little too much comic book reading is going on at night?
Ummm, never mind, I think the perhaps the drawing/writing inappropriate goofy things may be hereditary! Besides, I really think banana man enjoyed the presentation and is also looking into leaving the military 3 months early to continue his higher education...
Seriously, I haven't met a banana yet that didn't love solving complex mathematical equations using a slide ruler, but then again, maybe that's just me. So all in all a super fantastic, presentable presentation, day!

Beggars and choosers.....
I worked last night, so the boys were on "mommy duty" and served me dinner in bed. According to Shane they slaved for a while over the "house specialty"....
Actually, they worked so hard they broke my blender, but then again, perhaps burritos weren't made to be blended (but maybe that's just me). Errrrm, dinner wasn't as disgusting as you might think, and the boys loved eating in bed with me pretending they didn't have any teeth (what can I say, we're cheap entertainment). In other news, I just started using Buddy's computer addiction for powers of good and found an awesome site that you plug in spelling words and Buddy reaps the rewards of playing games while spelling the aforementioned words....
Serious win-win, he came home today excited that he got 14 out of 15 on his spelling test Friday.....which is a MAJOR improvement. Yay for finding something that works!!!! So all in all a super fantastic, using our teeth , day!

The Tennis Pro....
A while ago the mom of one of Buddy's friends invited him to join him and another classmate with semi-private tennis lessons. Buddy declined at the time, which was surprising, since he never turns down an opportunity to play with friends, but then again, sometimes when you're anti-sports you can't help but say no. Well, that is, until you go to a lesson with your friend after a sleepover and you decide that tennis lessons (and the opportunity to play with two friends) is AWESOME....
Wimbledon here we come (at least I'm hoping that Wimbledon is the appropriate joke to insert here, cause I am definitely not a tennis officianado....but Buddy will soon be)! So all in all a super fantastic, professional, day!

The worlds collided....
So today Buddy had his BFF from school and BFF from church over to play while I hosted a baby shower at the house. I'm not a boy, but from the looks of Buddy's room after the shower was over, I'm betting they had a great time. Now the boys are slumbering in their room of choice.....
I don't need to be a boy to know that they are having a great time....of course me telling them to go to bed multiple times clued me in too! In other news, Buddy slept with my dad's slide ruler last night, perhaps he's becoming a math genius through osmosis, that or he just fell asleep while playing with the slide part. I'll pretend he's a budding genius, that's way cooler than a slide player! So all in all a super fantastic, camping out, day!

Tired....
I worked last night after no napping, complements of this kid. Good thing he's so stinkin' lovable......no really, I'd give up all naps for this kid! Of course no one deserves to see me at my grumpy worst, so maybe for the sake of all mankind I'll keep taking naps before a night shift.....you are welcome once again world! So all in all a super fantastic, bedtime, day!

The Birthday Boy.....
His bike is now way better than mine or Shane's (well, definitely mine since mine has perma popped tires and I'm always riding Shanes). Unfortunately, I think all the other mothers wait until a birthday to buy the bike.....which resulted in all the staff at the bike shop singing Happy Birthday to You multiple times. Hmmmm, too bad we didn't get a free cake with our song! Anyway, Buddy loves his bike, seriously, what kid wouldn't! He's already proven his manhood and "looked under the hood" so to speak!
So all in all in all a super fantastic, too bad I'm working tonight, day!
